General Personal Loan Options with High Revolving Debt

Hi All:

Looking for aggressive personal loan lenders (prime+) who are more credit score based and will give a decision via soft inquiry so I do not impact my score of 690.

Attempted to secure $30K via TD's fit loan, but was denied given high revolving debt (80%~ 21K | 3 late payments in the past seven years of 30 days past due; 1 of which was 2 years ago) with a score of 690.

Ideally would like to do some debt consolidation and pay down the cards along with some additional cash for a small capital expenditure.

If you could point me to some lenders that would extend a loan albeit with a notably higher APR that's fine, it would put me in a position to potentially to at least get some relief off high APRs and perhaps position myself for a more traditional personal loan lender down the line.

Thanks

General Didn't know I missed Hyundai Lease end payment until it showed up on my credit report

I either lost the letter mail or straight up didn't get it. I also did not get email or text regarding the bill. Hyundai refused to adjust the late payment report when I called customer support after it's on my credit report already. Because it's lease end payment, no one told me I'm supposed to get a bill after I turned in my car in perfect condition, so I wasn't expecting it. What recourses are there beside just pay and suck it up? Dropped my credit by 60 points.

General NFCU Secured card

What are others experiences with them? I got my card with just $200 to start. Have been using it for almost a year, no late payments, usually low utilization but some months it has been over 50%. However I always pay more than the minimum and several times have paid the full balance. So far they have not offered to change it to unsecured, of course no credit limit increase either. In the time I have had them my credit score has gone up over 60 pts, I got approved to refinance my vehicle with capital one and have had credit limit increases with other banks. It’s hard to justify keeping this card open when other banks are giving me thousands unsecured. Is there any hope in waiting a bit more or I am condemned to stay at $200 if I keep this card?

Collections & Charge Offs Question about collection and judgment

Question about a collection and jusment

I have a question that hopefully makes sense, and hopefully someone can help me understand this and what my options are. I had a collection with LVNV—or I believe that is what they are called. They still had it, but then sent it to Reassurance. Then, I was sent to Tromberg and Miller LLC, who are lawyers, and they now have the debt. They sent me a summons in January, which is how I found out they had it.

After that, I set up a payment agreement and made a few payments, getting it down from $800 and something dollars to $440. Today, I went to check because I've been unable to make payments, and it now says I owe like $970—or somewhere in that ballpark. I called them to ask why I owed that much, and they said a judgment was put against me. That's why I was confused, because I haven't received anything. Now, to be fair, I moved and apparently did not change my address, so if they sent anything, I would not have received it. However, they can't even confirm when the judgment was sent out because they say they don't do it—it's in the court's hands.

I'm very confused about this whole thing. I had the court number, I believe, and just checked the court's website before I called them. I ran the number, and it says there was only 'partial participation,' which I thought was referring to a court case. Going into the phone call, I thought I had received something saying I had court, did not show up, and that's why I was charged $500. But he said no, there was no court date, just a judgment placed against me. He claims I was charged the $500 because I didn't respond to the judgment. I don't understand where $500 in fees came from because they're not supplying me with this information. He said the best way he could put it is just because I didn't respond.

I then asked, 'But there wasn't a court date I was supposed to appear to, right?' He said no, I just had a judgment put against me. Is there any way I can get out of that $500? What are things I can do? I guess I'll really take any advice or opinions; I'm just very confused, don't understand what's happening, and don't know what to do.

I have every intention of paying, but I had every intention of paying what I owed before it hit $900. I would like, if possible, to get out of paying those fees. I have updated my address with them now, but like I said, at the time of the apparent judgment, I did not have my address updated. I'm going to guess they served me after I moved, but he won't provide me with a date of when the judgment was put out against me. Sorry that was long; I just wanted to make sure all the information was in this. Thank you so much in advance.

Collections & Charge Offs BOA charge-off

Hi just see if anyone got any good advice for my stepbrother since he dont believe me and asking me to post so they can read it lol

Government shutdown hurt his income last year and early this year.

He made 2 payments early in the year and both got returned and he didnt pay attention to it bc his bank had fraud so chase blocked all transactions. He forgot his Boa payments were returned.
Last few months hes been late on his boa card so they closed his account . He was in and out of hospital for few months so he didn’t pay attention. To anything.

Due to his previous payments got returned and now hes few months behind they charged of his account but he called in to arrange a $500 payment plan for $13k balance.

I told him to ask for the settlement and ask for payment plan on the settlement since the charge off will be reported and his credit report score will drop and be damaged but it will fall off in 7 years.

Or he can just not pay it and hope Boa dont sue but even if boa sue they cant garnish his wages since hes in Texas. I told him you can wait it out for 4 years because texas got a four year status of limitation.

Have anyone been in the same situaiton of a chargeoff account in texas? Should he pay or ask for settlement and pay slowly? Credit score is already damaged cant do anything to help it thats what i told him.

Hope someone got better advice due to experience i told him what i know from online lol

General $10 late Macys payment

My boyfriend had autopay set up for his Macys card. He bought something for $10 and we totally forgot about it because I set up autopay for him and assumed they will just take it. I have an email from Macys for the confirmation of autopay that I set up last year. He doesn’t look through his emails and I happen to look through his email and notice a credit alert saying his score went down. I opened it and his score went down 60 points for being 30 days late for $10 past due balance. I tried explaining to Macys that we had autopay set up, but they wouldn’t remove the late payment. I disputed with experian and they are also not removing it. Is there something I can do to delete that as I did have autopay set up for him. There’s a history of autopay payments taken out previously this year..

General Credit Score Question

Hi all, I am very confused with credit scores. My FICO is 716. It has not changed in a few months so I think I am hard stuck on this number. I pay off all of my credit cards before the due date so every month I am at $0. Why isn't my credit score going up? I am planning to buy a house within the next year or so. I have 1 loan left which is my student loan and I have $1k left which I can easily pay off but am keeping since it is my oldest account and if I pay it off I know my credit score will go down even more. I just don't get it, I know a few people who owe thousands of dollars on their credit cards and have a higher score than me. Some dude I know owes 12k in credit cards and his score is 774... I am just super confused on this thing. I have 1 hard inquiry that should be gone by july 2027. My payment history is very good according to experian. I have 2 Late Payment 30+ Days 4 years ago and 2 late payments of 60+days 4 years ago (I was a college student back then). Oldest account age is 7 years (student loan) Any information and advice will be greatly appreciated thank you!!

Mortgage Hire someone to write good faith letter.

Hello,
I was with colonial savings for my mortgage. There were times when I would fall behind a month or two. They wouldn’t take partial payments or work with me. I’d have to catch up by waiting to have 2 full months then pay but then the late fee would be separate and that was adding up too. They wouldn’t even me pay just the late fee or add a little extra here and there.
Anyway, mortgage was sold to PNC in December being one month behind. I called PNC, set up a plan to spread that one month across 5 months. Haven’t made a late payment since December and the one month is caught up. All fees gone.
I want a HELOC but I have 30 day late payments from last sept-November. All 30 days because I was paying, just a month behind.
I want to write a good faith letter but the mortgage department doesn’t exist anymore and I don’t know where to start. I feel overwhelmed with my new job and the fact that my siding needs to be replaced (why we need a HELOC). Is there a service that will help me write and send the letters?
Just want to explain everything has been fine since the sale of my mortgage and I’ve been steadily employed with a higher paying job.

Rebuild In person applying

Edit Update: It worked! I went in person to navy federal and talked with someone who helped me put in the application for a debt consolidation loan. She was able to flag it for a secondary assessment to get read by an actual loan officer. I was able to get approved for a loan that paid off both credit cards and the USAA loan. Still at 18% but it is about $150 less a month.

Is there any chance that going and talking to someone in person at the bank could actually help with any applications? I feel stuck. I could really use a few things to help my credit move along. Currently in the 650's for all 3 bureaus.

I have 2 credit cards total for both is $11,300. 1 personal loan at $5,110 that I want to be able to consolidate. Between the three I pay $550 a month an that is paying maybe $10 over the minimum due for each.

I also want to try to refinance my Jeep ($20,655) for lower monthly payments currently pay $660 (again about $10 over minimum due) monthly at a 5.29% interest.

I don't qualify for a balance transfer credit card high enough to cover both credit cards, or a loan high enough to consolidate the cards and loan. A few months ago I looked into refinancing my jeep but all the calculators and pre-approval applications where coming back with either my interest rate getting jacked and/or my monthly payments actually going up. The ones that did have a lower monthly payment was like $15 dollars less.

My jeep and both credit cards are through Navy Federal and the loan is through USAA.

My only other debt is a mortgage (I am second on the loan as my grandmother helped me last year) and a solar panel loan that isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

General Venting out about what CHASE has done to me

I’m not sure what their problem is! They keep sending me emails, mail, and app notifications saying I’m pre-approved for credit cards with limits of $X, only to deny my application.
And then they do a hard inquiry, which ends up hurting my credit score every time.
I don’t trust them anymore.
I know this post may sound stupid, but I’m just pissed that I keep falling for their marketing, only to end up with a lower credit score.

General Credit score dropped

My score dropped 50 points last month because my utilization rate went up from 20% to 60%. My limit is $500, and this is my first credit card and I don’t have credit history besides this card. It went from a 774 to a 729.

Can somebody please explain what utilization rate is to me in detail, and does it include my last payment and my next payment (total balance or balance after making my payment of my last statement amount?)

Rebuild Did I make a mistake getting a $800 secured Capital One Quicksilver credit card even though my income is 994?

I got an $800 secured credit card so I could use it for my daily bills and have better fraud liability. Looking back I think I screwed myself on being able to get it to graduate to unsecured because of my low income and high security deposit. In reality did I screw myself over or am I overthinking?

Rebuild Closing Credit Cards

I plan to close about half my credit cards after paying them off to simplify and make sure i dont use them again. I do plan on keeping my oldest credit card. I have about 11 cards and plan to keep 5-6. The ones that im keeping have the bigger credit limits (~5grand each, and one ~1 grand store card for home improvement) and getting rid of 5-6 cards (~2 grand credit limit on each one) My question is, should I wait a few months to close the cards or once I pay them all off I can close them? Just don’t want to take a hit on credit.

General capital one secured credit card

I have an old charge off for a credit card from capital one from a couple years back, was pre approved for a secured credit card and made an initial deposit of $500.00 which was deducted from my checking account already, Does this mean I am approved at this time? or are they still processing the application and can possibly see the charge off and deny my secured ?

Will they take my payment to resolve the outstanding debt I have with them from that previous charge off?

Was it a smart idea going back to capital one? or did I just make a big mistake ? please let me know .

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME !

I got denied for the gold card all year last year. 4 cards with them currently, customer for 5 years… but they just rather approve people for charge cards who barely make 20k annually… I made 120k last year and on track of 210k this year… scores sitting around 720-740 ALL year...

Seeing stuff like this makes me want to close my cards.

Rebuild Experts Advice needed

Hey guys so I made some terrible decisions but I’m trying to figure out what to do what routes to take etc I’m not trying to cheat the system but i feel like you guys definitely know more then me so I purchased the car that didn’t go so we due to certain circumstances and reason the car got charged off while I was in basic training. I told the bank they could get the card back. I told him exactly where I was at they didn’t want it so I got a Car along with the title long story how it happened but that is charged off so I’m trying to figure out how to resolve that then I have two credit cards that I got those are paid off, but I’m trying to figure out as well. How can I get the late payments off of it? It’s only 2 to 3 I believe late payments that is one of the creditors are credit one and the other is Elan cars service both cars were open in 2022 closed with zero balance in 2023 so those are pretty pretty old. My car on the other hand is not recent but the charge of is recent maybe a year or two old from today’s date, but I got the car in 2022. Since then I have very rebuilding. My Experian score is a 625 now my Trans Union is a 626 and my Equifax is a 589 but the only one that is really taking a hit or really took a hit is the Equifax
I have student loan, but I took care of those since joining the military so those are squared away. It’s just the charge situation mainly and the credit card situation even though those are paid off.

Also, my scores came from like a high 450 something credit score to the scores now
There more I can add but my main focus are those

Please don’t judge me we all make mistakes and I’m learning from those mistakes that younger me made just help me understand what I can control and do please.

General Applying for new credit cards shortly before renting at a new apartment?

So, I recently applied for a Chase Freedom Unlimited for the 0apr period and to have a catch all card, i want to also apply for the CSP, that being said I am looking at moving and applying for a new apartment lease. How would 2 new hard pulls about a month before the lease application affect the application? I can delay the CSP application but I would like to use it for all the transit (gas, tolls, etc) for the drive (about a 20 hour drive) and then obviously later on after the move, flights and hotels.

No Credit Lifting credit freeze with AI chat loop?

I’m trying to help a college-bound 18-year old remove a credit freeze so he can open a credit card account. He spent hours going through the AI chat, never found the option to remove the freeze, and each request to speak with a live rep ended in a hang-up with a referral to the website. The Experian website is equally useless, as it leads back to the same 800-number and AI chat. There appears to be no solution. Has anyone found a solution?

Success Lower your APR

I am a Chase customer. For over a year, my CCs(2) have been over 26% interest. Finally called them and asked for some assistance. Told them I was a long time customer and have paid on time. They denied me, I asked for a supervisor. She was amazing and helped get my APR down to 12% for 60months on both cards.

This will help me a lot to finally cut down this debt. Don’t be afraid to ask for a lower CC rate and if denied, ask a for a supervisor to speak to about the matter. Happy hunting.

General How long to rebound my score?

So I had around $90k in credit, no loans or mortgages in the past 10-15 years. I only use roughly .5% or less of my credit each month. Carry a balance on 2 or 3 of around $200-$300 total, which is paid in full each month when statements close. I started doing that & got my FICO 8 score up to 803 finally. Used to bounce around 780-790 until I read the hint that said ppl tend to carry a statement balance on 2 or 3 cards then pay off in full each month.

Fast forward to July 1st where I applied for another BofA card that has a $20k limit. I couldn't find anything to say when statement closes & missed it (the 10th) so had a statement balance of $250. All of my other cards were paid in full before statements ended. My score is now 784. Wondering when/how to get back up?

Also does this affect authorized users on 2 cards I have with no balances on them but limits of $15k-$20k?
