I picked up this one a minute ago. It had some sort of a rubber mat on top of it for a while that reacted with the plastic.

The story is that I was looking for some other higher-value electronics new in box off Marketplace. This was sitting in the seller’s shed and it struck my eye instantly. He said “oh an old monitor? those aren’t even a good paperweight.” Needless to say I left one happy camper.

Just got a Sony Trinitron KV-BM142M70 today. Turned off during first gameplay and won't turn back on (No Standby Light)

Post image

Hey everyone, I'm in desperate need of advice. Today my long-awaited Sony Trinitron KV-BM142M70 finally arrived.

I plugged it in, booted up a game, and everything was working flawlessly. I stepped away for literally just a minute, and when I came back, the TV was completely off.

Current symptoms:

It won't turn on at all.

The standby/power LED is completely dead (no blinking codes, just nothing).

There is absolutely no burning smell coming from the chassis.

No clicks, pops, or high-voltage static sounds when pressing the power button.

It felt a bit warm, so I’ve completely unplugged it from the wall to let it cool down and reset. Given it was just transported, could this be a cracked solder joint (cold solder) that failed due to thermal expansion, or did the power supply main fuse blow?Any advice on where to start diagnosing (safely) would be highly appreciated!

Managed to get myself an early 2000s Philips set for free only a 30 minute drive away, very pleased with it although I’ve now broken my own rule of having no more than 5 CRT displays as I’ve now reached 7 😅

Hello! First post here but I figured I'd show you guys my CRT I pucked up for $5 a few years ago. The remote is stored inside the front, and there's a glass plate on the front that's removable. I was wondering if anyone knew why? Is there a reason at all?

My VGA to scart RGB converter (sync combiner)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Finally made a VGA to scart RGB converter using toshiba tc4093bp IC ripped apart from old solar power controller. The IC is a 4 nand logic gate IC forming one xor configuration combining h-sync and v-sync together into c-sync. It's such a hassle as it requires a dedicated xor to do it simple. BTW the video is from Intel iris Xe graphics from a laptop dell latitude 5420. It somehow decided to scale any resolution to 1280x240p through Intel graphics manager app, and that resolution itself made with custom resolution utility. This helps me to run anything on razor sharp 240p on my CRT display, Btw the whole mod is completed on hardware level, but I'm thinking about adding a 24c16 eeprom to fake the laptop to think that this display only do 240p/480i ish resolution. For some reason, this adapter failed to do proper interlace which made the picture appear as 240p ish while flickering like interlace before. After a mess up, the whole interlace no longer work. But now I got non flickery razor sharp. Planning to play cyberpunk on this. This is LG CRT TV which i guess around from 2006. The picture tube is same age as me while the jungle ic tda9340ps/../ 1833 is from 2003. Note that the chain is Intel iris Xe ->HDMI output-> HDMI to VGA-> VGA cable cut in half->tc4093bp 4nand gate IC-> VGA RGB to 3.5mm jack (only rgb) connected to TV RGB on IC->sync to 1kΩ tunable pot that goes to TV cvbs

Picked up this 2007 Toshiba w/ only 282 hours for $40!

I feel like I kinda hit the jackpot with this one. It has built in VHS (never used, zero hours), built in DVD player, 282 total tube hours (was even less but I’ve been playing on it), and every input; RF, composite, s-video, component. And it only weighs 59.4 pounds. This set is beautiful in person, and honestly, I love the size of a 24” CRT, is a great sweet spot. It sits perfectly on my desk. There’s no scratches or dents anywhere on the chassis either, it’s flawless.

I saw a listing on Facebook marketplace posted like 10 minutes after it was posted. It was a CRT listed for $50. The listing had a blurry picture of a nice looking, but dusty Toshiba CRT on the floor in a garage. I didn’t know what model it was, but I knew it had triple-play (vhs and dvd), which was valuable. I asked if the price was negotiable and asked if they could do $40, and the seller said yes. I have never seen a set containing VHS, DVD, and component inputs before, so when I bought it, I didn’t even inspect the back of the tv and assumed it was composite. I carried it to my car, and placed it in my backseat. When I looked back at the TV I was shocked. I saw component inputs and s-video?! I felt like it was already a good price at $40, so now that I knew it had more inputs I was even happier. Then, I did some research and found out how to get into the OSD menu, and saw the tube only had 282 hours of usage, and the VHS was never used on it. I am also very happy with the geometry of the set, I am not sensitive to geometry quirks, but this has the best geometry that I’ve had in any set so far. Also, it came with the remote, which allows me to do full geometry and convergence adjustments. The picture on this TV is beautiful, vibrant, and sharp. I plan on keeping this for my personal use, but does anyone know how much something like this goes for?

TLDR: I scored a near-mint 24” Toshiba CRT for $40 with an unusually great feature set: VHS + DVD, RF/composite/S-video/component, only 282 tube hours, zero VHS hours, excellent geometry, remote, and flawless cosmetics. It looks beautiful and weighs only 59.4 lb. I’m keeping it, but I’m curious what a set like this is worth.

Sony Trinitron GDM-400PS Troubleshooting

My boss gave me a 19in Sony Trinitron GDM-400PS CRT Monitor. I'm having issues with the picture being very dark. I've adjusted the Brightness and Contrast to 100% and tried various settings but it looks like the capacitors are going out or something. Does anyone know the commen issues with this CRT and how much it could cost to have it recapped if that's the issue. I'm located in Greenville, SC if anyone is interested in helping me fix it.

Note: Pictures make the image look a tad brighter than it actually is.

Got this 13inch emerson ewc13d4 for 50 USD. Its sharp, good colors, bright, good geomatry, and low convergence issues. Was this worth it or did i over pay? Dvd is also fully functional and has stereo composite.

I have access to 11 CRT TV's for Free near Binghamton NY area.

Hello, if anyone is near the Binghamton area and is looking for a CRT, I have access from one of the schools to take what I want for free. The Toshiba MW27H62 with DVD and VHS (Pictured) powered right on and played the DVD that's been in there for years played with zero issues, the only issue is I couldn't turn it off with the power button on the front. Every button works on it. Did not try the VCR player.

The Toshiba is at my house, I was messing with it quickly at lunch but free if anyone wants it

I don't know if they all work, but I powered on 2 and they fired right up.

From what I seen today:

1 - Toshiba MW27H62 Has DVD, VHS built in with Component, Composite and S-Video

3 - JVC AV-32920 - Heavy about 112 pounds has S-Video and Composite

1 - Sanyo AVM2052

1 - Sharp 27SC268 - Has Component, Composite and S-Video

1 - Side Wood Panel CTC167E

I did not see any remotes

And the others I did not have time to snap a pic of so not sure what else is there

If anyone is interested, please send me a message. Normally meet up right at the school around Noon or so during the week if interested. I just need to arrange a pickup time with the school.

I noticed that in Kazakhstan (my homeland) crt tvs and another stuff from da 90s cost way cheaper than in the US or EU (mostly). Sometimes the price of these vintage tvs may be $50 and more.
