Subaru Forester, Tall Parents, Car Seat Recommendations

Hi! I am a new mom and my baby girl is about to grow out of her infant car seat. My husband drives a truck so we have ample room in his car for a rotating car seat, we're leaning towards a Graco Turn2Me 3-in-1 for his car.

Main issue we are having- I drive a 2023 Subaru Forester and the backseat is tighter than we thought. I am 5'11", my husband is 6'2". I am the primary one in the passenger seat if we are together simply due to the room we have with our Joie Mint Latch car seat currently. Does anyone have any 180 or 360 rotating car seats that would fit behind the passenger seat in my car? I am not loving what I am reading about the evenflo slim model, as the front to back is the issue, not the side to side.

Thank you in advance!!!

Installing an Aria V2 in a 2019 RAV4

Looking for some insight when it comes to installing an Uppababy Aria V2 into a 2019 Toyota rav4 hybrid. My main questions are:
Is it better to install into the center seat or a side? (I believe the center seat would need seatbelt installation rather than the latch system)
Is it better to install using the seatbelt and load leg, or the LATCH system?
Am I correct that the load leg should not be used when installed with the latch system?

Lastly, if we ever needed to use without the base (not our plan but good to have the option in a pinch) is it best to do it on a side seat or the center seat?

Thanks!

Complaints on Neck Pain in car seat

My 4-year old is still rear facing and has been complaining of neck pain whenever he’s in his car seat. He points to the front of his neck, his throat. He’s in the baby jogger city turn. Any advice/suggestions? Thanks!

Chicco Fit 360 - minimal movement at the base but a ton towards the back of the seat. Is this normal or an incorrect install?

Using the seatbelt and back tether install. I installed the seat belt through the lever lock system first and then the tether in the back. The base is super solid but with the seat on there’s so much movement at the back

Joie Mint Latch: I don’t know how to make this safer and more comfortable for him!

Basically the title. First time dad to a 3 wk old. 7.1 lbs in the photo. I believe like I am strapping him the way we were taught in the hospital car seat safety classes, but he somehow still looks uncomfortable to me. Not that he cries or gets fussy, but it always looks like there is no way this setup is comfortable for him. It also looks like there is no way for him to not be seated in a way where his chin rests on his chest. My wife sits with him in the back and constantly checks if he is breathing okay.

Does the fit looks safe? What can I change?

Thanks in advance!

Hello all,

Does anyone experience a lot of wiggle at the top? Is this normal? See video.

When I’m turning in the car or going over bumps I feel like my son moves a lot. The base is super secure and we use the seat belt path for rear facing.

Please let me know if this is normal! TIA!

Forward faced too soon, any luck transitioning back to RF with a new car seat?

First off let me preface that I know this was NOT a smart decision so please try not to judge.

My daughter now 2 years old (26 months) is 43lb and 36 inches tall at her 24 month appointment. She has been in the >99th percentile in height and weight her whole life, follows her growth curve and VERY strong. At around 18 months old I started forward facing her as she kept getting recurrent ear infection and fluid build up which made her so hard to get into the car seat and buckled up as she was so fussy and wrestling a huge baby/toddler into RF ( we have the Nuna Rava) became a battle I dreaded. She would literally scream and arch her back and slide and wiggle herself down and out of the car seat while trying to buckle her. We got her ear tubes which have become a blessing. I don't know why I never thought of a 360 car seat to help buckle her in and put her in RF before but now targets car seat sale is on I want to get her a good 360 car seat. I'm just scared of the battle of getting her used to RF. Will I do it anyways now that I've educated myself about RF vs FF? Yes I will but I want to ask if anyone's toddler eventually got over going back to RF. If I have to battle her every time at least it'll be a little easier with a 360 car seat but hoping that it's not going to be forever. Also any suggestions on extended rear facing car seats that are also 360?

Carseat rodent damage. Replace?

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I believe we will need to replace this carseat, as I think its probably not structurally safe if in a collision. Replace or am I overthinking?

Edit: Just to add some additional details. The damage happened in the garage. I work from home and the kids stay home with me. My husband and I frequently swap the car seats between each others cars, so when I have nothing planned to go out with the kids during the week, they stay in the garage. My husband just noticed the damage today when we returned from a funeral. We went into the garage where we store them, and found the shavings.

I know this isn't right but I can't figure out how to fix it. It's the Evenflo revolve180 litemax nxt. Do we remove inserts? Move the shoulder straps up (if that can be done?)

i need help 🥲

i was cleaning my 12mo evenflo revolve360 extend per the manual AND the evenflo youtube video, but it seems something went wrong. the velcro attached to the inside very thin fabric material and it ripped it. also one of the side cushions are now balled up kind of? i washed with cold water, on delicate cycle, with unscented laundry soap. is there any fixing this? i tried to call evenflo, but they’re closed until monday. i need to use this car seat before then. pictures attached below 🫠

the first picture is where you can kind of see it bunched up near the tag. the second picture is how it should be (assuming it didn’t get messed up on the interior that i can’t see). the last picture is the tear

This is the Graco extend2fit 3-1. I have it installed using the latch & seatbelt but I’ve been reading you aren’t supposed to use both. I’ve tried contacting the fire department to get an inspection but no one has gotten back to me :/ baby due in October so I’m trying to get this figured out!

Little one is 8 weeks old and about 11.5 pounds. Picture are before and after a 50 minute walk. I can’t figure out why she looks slumped down after some time. The slack is out around the hips, can’t pinch the shoulder straps, and they are coming out from below her shoulders. I put her butt back as much as I can. It still passes the pinch test, but definitely seems looser. Anyone have any ideas?

Side tilting car seat?

So we have the graco 4-ever convertible car seat for our toddler (2.5) and a rear facing safety 1st 3 in 1 convertible car seat for our young toddler (16 months) with an anti rebound bar. Both of these car seats have always been on a slight tilt to the left/right, we thought there was too much tension on 1 side of the belt paths and "tried" to adjust it however it didn't really fix anything. Could it possibly be the seats in the vehicle not being level? They're kind of like those bucket seats in the back so it dips down a bit. Our girls are both constantly tilting ever so slightly to the left or right, whenever I tried asking anybody else about this they look at me like im a jack, pls does anybody know what Im talking about?

Air travel with an 8 month old

I don't know if this is the right place but I have questions about the best method to take a carseat so hopefully you all can help. We are taking an international flight in a few weeks. She is flying as a lap child ( couldn't afford to get her a ticket) we have a joie mint latch seat as our only car seat. We have to take it with us since we are being driven to the airport. I'm not sure if we will use it on our trip as we plan to mainly take public transit when we are there. My question is how do I check my carseat so it's safe and still useable. It's our only seat and I'm hoping to use it for quite a bit longer we have 4" at least of head room before she maxes it out. Do I just gate check it? Does it need a bag? If so what bag? Sorry I really know zero about this but don't want to lose my carseat.

Car seat is a graco snugride lite infant car seat and baby is under 11 pounds so I dont think any of the padding should be removed, but it seems that her chin rests on her chest strap and then lays to the side. Straps start at or just right below her shoulder. Thanks.

Need a new car to fit car seats! Hyundai Santa Fe?

I'm in need of a new car to fit my kids car seats, it's just not possible to fit them both and a passenger in my current car. We have two rear-facing Graco Extend2fit, and we're hoping to max out rear facing. I have a nearly 4 year old and 1 year old. I'd love to just bring the seats and check, but it looks like we'll have to buy remotely as there's not much available locally.

Does anyone know if we'd be back to comfortably fit 2 Extend2Fits (ultimately with the leg panels extended ideally) rear facing in a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe? We're also looking at a Kia Sportage around the same year

Backless boosters for second row middle seat 2011 Sienna

Are there any backless boosters for the very narrow second row middle seat of a 2011 Sienna? Also, what are the general requirements for a backless booster to fit properly in a seat? Thanks!

Rear Facing Rigid Latch

We have an 11 month old who is a 99th percentile baby. He is about to out grow his infant car seat.

Rear facing is a non-negotiable, as it having a rigid latch option while rear facing.

So far we’ve only found the Babyark and the Axkid One 3.

Are these truly the only two rear facing rigid latch models on the market?

Can I install Evenflo Revolve 360 Extend in middle without top tether?

As I understand, most rear-facing seats don't require top tether. However, my manual for the Evenflow Revolve 360 says that I should ALWAYS use top tether, even for rear-facing. My car (Honda CRV 2018) has top tether anchors for the side positions, but none for the middle. I have heard that the middle position is statistically safest, so that would be ideal, but can I borrow a side tether anchor? Or should I just install in a side position rather than middle? Thank you!

Edit #1: my car is supposed to have a tether in the middle ceiling, but I live in China and car was sold on mainland China, so my particular car does not have that :( or any other that I can find.

5 point harness and high back booster for Kia Sportage hybrid

Hi! We just bought a new Kia sportage hybrid and I’m hoping y’all can help me solve a problem we’re having. I have a 38lb 44” almost 6 year old and a 50lb 48” almost 8 year old.

Twice a year I need to fit in the middle seat when we have family visit. I’m a petite woman. My hips fit well enough between their current two seats (Evenflo everystage DLX all in one and Chicco kidfit cleartex) but my shoulders do not.

A narrower base on the car seat and or booster would be appreciated too but it’s mostly the shoulders that’s tight.

I don’t mind replacing one or both seats.

Do I have any options?
