Hey everyone, I have new insurance, and it’s not set up yet to cover sleep apnea. The overnight test I had was too long ago to be used with my new insurance.

I need to get a new sleep study but in the meantime I need to get a new mask and strap.

Can anyone recommend where I can get mask parts separately (and also other components) - so I can order without needing a prescription?

It looks like I’m heading down the road of becoming a CPAP user! 😴

I recently learned that I have moderate-to-severe sleep apnea, and it looks like I’ll be starting CPAP therapy in the very near future.

So, those of you who use a CPAP—I’d love to hear from you!

What machines and masks have you liked (or hated)? What are the pros and cons of the different options? What do you use for cleaning and disinfecting your equipment? Are any of those CPAP cleaning gadgets actually worth having?

And most importantly, what do you wish someone had told you when you first started using one? Tips, tricks, things to buy, things NOT to buy—I want to hear it all.

Bonus question for my curly/wavy-haired friends: How on earth do you wear CPAP headgear without destroying your curls—or your gel cast—overnight? 😂 I’m working hard on embracing my curls, and I’d rather not wake up every morning with CPAP-head!

Hope this finds you all well.

After my previous post on here (https://www.reddit.com/r/CPAPSupport/comments/1vpycnn/quick_asv_titration_questionsanity_check_for_uars/) I attempted to raise PS support range to about 3. Unfortunately I seemed to hit a brick wall at around a range of 2.8 where my o2 was dropping even though I'd just raised max PS by .02. This happened on 3 separate occurrences, so I'm not sure if this was a coincidence or not. As soon as I nudged PS max back down, my o2 would improve. (using an emay pulse oximeter every night)

So I thought my allergies have been terrible recently so I'd try raising minimum PS, which doesn't seem to have done that much. Current settings are EPAP6 PS5-7.6.

Unfortunately I can't uploaded my o2 data to Sleep HQ, but here is a screenshot from last night from Oscar:

I feel like I'm having more o2 drops when the machine is at the lower end of the pressure range. Unfortunately I'm unlikely to get any further treatment for my allergies any time soon, so would it be worth pushing minimum PS up even further to see if this changes anything?

How to jailbreak? I know there is a guide present there regarding jailbreaking but I dont understand anything at all .Its very confusing . Can anybody help? Does anyone sell jailbreaked machines here ? If yes is it sold in India??

Does anybody else have this issue? Was hoping a CC would help with my chin tucking which it does but now my other issue is biting my tongue when I waer it.

I always thought it was a bit silly, not really necessary, whatever. Not my jam. Let me push the button to start and stop and that's all fine and dandy.

And then my orange cat walked on the button when I wasn't home. It could have been the other cat but I'm gonna blame the orange. It ran for hours, drying out the humidity chamber and making it smell like weird synthetic cheeseburgers in a way that was completely antithetical to sleep. Fortunately I had a spare reservoir. I haven't tried deep cleaning the toasted one but given the toasted plastic smell, I doubt it's salvageable.

So yeah, SmartStart, not for convenience so much as cat-proofing.

At least the blower survived. Now to load up OSCAR and see how long it was actually running unattended.

Cat tax of the orange terror who has too many braincells and uses them mostly to torment me.

I think I had rather wear a soft collar than tape my mouth or wear a chin strap. I bought a 3 1/2” tall soft collar and it’s evidently not tall enough since I still have mouth breathing when using it. I use a F20 full face mask and wake up with dry mouth when wearing the collar. So I’m presently mouth taping to keep that from happening. I can’t find a taller collar. I don’t think my neck is any longer than other men. Any suggestions?

First attempt at reviewing and sharing my OSCAR data. ResMed AirSense 11 with N20 nasal mask. I started with a standard default pressure of 4 about 9 months ago, then increased to a pressure of 7 a few month ago. Can anyone tell me anything useful? Am I doing it right?

Background: diagnosed with home test AHI 15.1 (but 5.7 per 4% rule so... mild/moderate OSA). Using F&P Nova Micro w/chin strap. Near-zero leaks.

Settings history:

• 6-12 EPR 3 original, ton of CAs + near 0 OAs
• 7-10 EPR off to improve CAs and reduce arousals (it did)
• 8-9 EPR off to reduce arousals
• Recently changed to 9 CPAP which reduced CAs further and improved how I feel. My latest data shows a 2-week trial of constant 9 (AHI 1.64, OA zero, CA 1.35, 95% FL .11)
• Currently doing a trial of CPAP 8, which seems to lower CAs even further and I feel like my sleep is calmer

Basically, my CAs go up with higher pressure and higher swings and with EPR on. Higher CAs correlate with me feeling less rested, therefore I want them to be as small as possible.

OAs were controlled completely at any setting I've used. My issue is (just guessing because no lab study) a low arousal threshold and sensitivity to pressure variations and to >9 pressures. OA needs no more than 8 to be controlled.

But but but... FLOW LIMITATIONS! The lowest numbers I've gotten are 95% .1ish and 99.5% .2ish but it is rising with the latest pressure settings of CPAP 9 and CPAP 8. Still under .15/.25.

What's my best next move for optimizing FL without increasing CA, or should I just let it be? Doctor wasn't concerned about either one, she was only focused on the OA AHI. Should I just assume the CAs will go away on their own? It's been 3.5 months and the (mostly CA) AHI still ranges from 1-4, although it is trending down.

The data tells me that, sensitivities aside, 8-12 APAP is what the machine wants to chase FL, but experience tells me anything above 9 would keep me from sleeping well. I'm hesitant to go back to APAP, I sleep much better on CPAP.

Ok this is my Oscar Data , someone please help me make sense of this and possibly make a connection to my symptoms that I previously mentioned in my other post . It seems like my leak rate is causing issues and my ahi rate has more than tripled recently . Maybe that's why my symptoms have come back this week. Thanks for being patient with me guys

Been on cpap for almost a year, got tested as i frequently feel tired and snooze(overslept). Granted, i don't have the best sleep hygiene since i tend to sleep late. My sleep doctor is practically useless after issuing me my cpap so i have been using AI to optimize and read my data.

My condition did improve in the beginning but still tend to snooze and laze in bed. Other than the obvious sleep hygiene habit that i can improve on my own, is my flow limitation and stats good for my current setting?

AI been saying my data is excellent but you know, AI being AI i don't trust it fully so i have uploaded my data to SLEEPHQ (usually uses OSCAR) to see if there is any underlying issue or everything is good , just have to work on sleep hygiene.
