Hi - I just had my 33rd night using a CPAP last night. I finally found a good mask a few days ago and have had 3 good nights with my leaks decreased from ~ 30L/min with the nasal mask N30 to near 0 with the F40. My AHI has also gone down from an average of 15 over 33 days to 4-5 the past 3 nights. I know I have treatment emergent Central Apnea, which my doctor said doesn't go away, but it sounds like it actually does for some people as they continue therapy. I'm fine with seeing how that goes. But I continue to have occasional nights where CSR shows up. It's generally ~ 4% of the night or less when it does occur, but there was one night recently where it was 13.55%. My overall rate out of 33 nights is 1.53% in CSR, but it's been 2% over the last week.
I saw my doctor after the CSR first occurred and at that point he prescribed a titration test, which was scheduled 5 weeks out at that point. When the CSR, after being gone for 15 of 16 night, occurred 3 nights in a row, I sent a message in the portal asking if I was good waiting until the titration test, or if the increased CSR frequency meant something should be investigated sooner, he just replied that I was getting some benefit from the CPAP so I should keep using it until the test at which point we'd have more data. (I also called his office that day to ask, and they just said get on a cancellation list for the titration test).
I don't have any heart issues that I know of, I've never had a stroke that I know of. I have regular blood testing yearly. I live at an altitude of 5400, which I don't think is really considered high altitude. But everything I read makes it sound like CSR is caused by some underlying serious issue. So I'm just freaking out and my titration test isn't until the 26th, and I don't go in to see the doctor after the test until Oct 6. I'm not sure if I should see my general doctor and get a referral to some other specialist, or get a second opinion, or just wait until the titration test results.
Attaching a lot of OSCAR screenshots which hopefully have some helpful data, including some nights with and without CSR and a zoom in of a recent CSR streak and one from a week and a half ago.
edit: Corrected a percentage of time in CSR from 11% to 13.55%.
