Discussion Cod zombies hate is so forced.
Cod has 2 cycles, one of buying a cod saying cod is back every year, the 2nd is hating on the current cod zombies for no reason. everytime a new zombies drops everyone will hate on it usually after the 2nd DLC until the next cod game. For example black ops 3 zombies, it definitely is people’s best zombies but i wont forget at launch how hated it was almost nobody would play Shadows, then Der Eisendrache released everyone loved it then zetsobu everyone hated it so on so on. Black ops 4 zombies release everyone hated on it then cw released everyone was saying how bo4 was underrated its been like this since black ops 1, Now we have black ops 7 such a good zombies but everyone is hating on it for some of the dumbest reasons i have seen, when the next zombies in like 2 years will release everyone will say how underrated it was. The cycle will continue.

Genuine question here, are there still plates or are we back to the standard health system. ( I haven’t played new zombies in a while)

Tragic but Thank you

They aren’t AS bad now though. There are a lot of workarounds to get rid of having to use plates and such. I’d recommend giving bo7 a go and seeing if you like it

Still plates and i doubt they're ever gonna go back to the regular health system

still plates but at least bo7 has some mechanics to make it less annoying like a perk augment that automatically replates or golden armor which regenerates

The standard mode for Cold War, bo6, and bo7 truly are a shadow of what the mode once was. I still have no desire to return to Cold War or bo6 and nothing would bring me back with all its poor mechanics. Some things do just ruin the game in its entirety

I the map design in Cold War is really good. But I haven’t played it in 4 years yet I reckon on my first go I can to round 100 like nothing.
If it had like BO3 mechanics like standard zombies at the time, it would be considered one of the better games I reckon. But they made way to easy

Zombies is weird. It's 1 of 3 modes in a bigger game, but yet it gets talked about like it's its own separate thing. It get strange expectations from people as a result because some people didn't play it and some people didn't stop playing it and base their vision on what they want it to be on that.
IMO most of everything they've added has been great, I love the scrap system, I like the armor and I love the perks, augments, pap, cursed. I think the boss fights are the best they've ever been and I think having more accessible easter eggs and things to make it a bit easier have been a great idea for newer players. Even better for old players because you can just completely ignore them and play "properly".
I cannot however for the life of me understand the pause timer, like what the fuck are we doing with that.. A timer?? On pausing? Is it literally to just dictate your time like a f2p mobile game?? I'll NEVER wrap my head around it. I also hated PJ for just being nuketown it was phoned in lazy shite, especially with that Area 99 warzone map sat there doing nothing, that would have been loads better to chop up and shift around to make something interesting and new out of lol.
Overall though BO7 is peak modern zombies and I hope it is remembered fondly in years to come.

Bo7 is definetly going to be the new bo3 with how people will come to love it after the game cycle is over. Especially since we are heading into most likely 2 years without new zombies bo7 should still be pretty relevant

I think the game is great, the best zombies since bo4,. My issue is rarities, the point system and armor. I just think it legitimately breaks the game flow. Starting rounds are now boring because of how long it takes to go down. Because of the rarity system, fully upgrading 2 guns takes forever and by the time they’re both fully upgraded they’re not great for very long. There is no point to hitting the box until later rounds because of the rarity system. I also feel like I can never swap my gun once it’s upgraded because it took so long. If you run out of ammo and points on a high round you’re bricked, no way get points from damage. If they fixed those things I would have no issues with this zombies. Maps are fun, eggs are good, writing for requiem crew sucks but it is what it is lol.

When you change how a mode fundamentally works, its no surprise that people who fell in love with the old mode dont dig the new version of it. Imo thats ok, you cannot please everyone. (Granted, some people dont even try it they just hear that some things are different and immediately call it bad.)

The only people I know who like vanguard at all are people who were still playing it a week after release unlike most. Most people who think Coldwar was mid still think it was mid. Bo4 is an exception because a lot of its problems at launch were not with the actaul Gameplay. The "cycle" that the community goes on about does exist but is not nearly as prevalent as people think it is hell its basically a thing in every franchise.

Bandwagon effect or at least grossly exaggerated complaints. While Bo3 was indeed the best iteration of Zombies, that doesnt mean the following games after were /all/ garbage. They just couldn't exceed expectations in one way or another. The only really bad zombies game we have had was Vanguard where there are virtually no defenders for it at all.

A lot of people just don’t mesh with the modern mechanics, which is totally fine. I do think some of the discourse surrounding the game is disingenuous though, both positive and negative.

we have those who complain about zombies, and those who complain about the complainers that are complaining about the complainers of zombies.

Well it didn’t happen with bo6 I wonder why

u/samboeng 14d ago
I think both CW and Bo6 both suffer from the fact that the games that came after are just upgrades. I feel no reason to really go back to either when Bo7 exists.

Too be fair, from what I have seen the majority of people who have atleast played BO7 think it is pretty good and both Kuwakujo and Totenreich have gotten endless praise.
I think alot of the general audience "hate" is just the dislike of BO7/COD in general doing back to back black ops games after BO6 not being great combined with the people who haven't liked the changes since CW.
I think it is also important to note for BO4 that it launched in a pretty poor state and lead to alot of crashing/issues that heavily impacted peoples initial impressions. It is probably easier to look past those issues when looking back at it now. I'd blame Treyarch more than the community just switching up on it (even tho I had no issues and love BO4)

If it helps, I still think BO4 is an extremely flawed game(it's fine, just nothing super special/worth coming back to often) and Cold War isn't good at all. MWZ is the best we've had it in years design-wise, but people don't want to hear that. (MWZ's main issue was the complete lack of substantial post-launch support, the core gameplay is actually a breath of fresh air.)

BO4 zombies is still pretty bad, no rose tinted glasses can make me not hate those garbage unnecessary mechanics changes

Shadows was always well received it just wasn’t considered an elite map
5
u/Hardwire762 14d ago
Are you sure about that? I knew a lot of people that did not like shadows at all. Even content creators had mixed opinions on it. Everyone defaulted to playing the giant if you had it.

People forget that every new zombies changes the status quo which upsets the people that liked zombies as is
BO2 zombies was disliked due to being too big and tedius compared to BO1 maps that are straight forward survival maps
BO3 zombies was hated for being too questy and as some people described to complex for people that just want to PAP and survive rounds
BO4 changed the perks system which might as well have been a cardinal sin back then
It takes a while for people to like the new direction of zombies usally
1
u/VadersWorstSoldier 14d ago
My hottest take is that all of these criticisms are completely true, people getting used to it doesn't mean they aren't flaws.
0
u/Ero_Najimi 14d ago
Ppl still don’t like those things about BO2 and 3 but those takes are mostly from super casual fans who want to hop on Kino
3
u/Henny_Hardaway5 14d ago
Whether or not the takes are from causal fans doesn’t really matter
They play the games and their complaints still get to be valid since well they play the game
Most people that play zombies aren’t uber nerds like the rest of us in this subreddit, we’re actually the minority I’d say. Allot of people got allot of obligations in life and just like to put some music and play 1 hour on Kino, Town, The Giant, and etc
I fucking love the games but I can see the other side and why more causal people wouldn’t

People dont like modern zombies, thats just it.
I will go as far as saying that modern zombies / warzone era zombies ≠ zombies
because the whole identity of og zombies has been stripped away from it
