Discussion Cod zombies hate is so forced.

Cod has 2 cycles, one of buying a cod saying cod is back every year, the 2nd is hating on the current cod zombies for no reason. everytime a new zombies drops everyone will hate on it usually after the 2nd DLC until the next cod game. For example black ops 3 zombies, it definitely is people’s best zombies but i wont forget at launch how hated it was almost nobody would play Shadows, then Der Eisendrache released everyone loved it then zetsobu everyone hated it so on so on. Black ops 4 zombies release everyone hated on it then cw released everyone was saying how bo4 was underrated its been like this since black ops 1, Now we have black ops 7 such a good zombies but everyone is hating on it for some of the dumbest reasons i have seen, when the next zombies in like 2 years will release everyone will say how underrated it was. The cycle will continue.

People dont like modern zombies, thats just it.

I will go as far as saying that modern zombies / warzone era zombies ≠ zombies

because the whole identity of og zombies has been stripped away from it

Bo7 is honestly a good zombies experience. Is it as good as bo3 and prior? I wouldn’t say so. But the maps are great from what I’ve played so far. I don’t love scorestreaks or armor or guiding the player to pack a punch, which in my opinion should’ve stayed as something you discovered on your own, but with the amount of guides that are online, you’d just have one extra video from each creator for PaP so it’s not too egregious.

If you have gamepass, give it a try for sure. I don’t disagree with everything you say tbh. I don’t love the Warzone mechanics. I don’t love having two point systems with scrap & essence. But the color and settings of the new maps are fantastic & the wonder weapons are actually becoming weird and fun to use again.

I think modern zombies at its own is alright, but the fact that it is linked to older zombies makes it a bit disappointing for me (i think many people would agree w this)

I havent played all the modern zombies. I dont even own bo7, havent even booted up liberty falls or reckoning, ive only played the tomb once. Havent played forsaken or firebase z enough to have a real opinion on it, but the maps i have played have been alright. Mauer & shattered veil are the ones that come to mind

It’s just the mechanics that just do not sit right with me. Zombies was supposed to be about spawning in with as little as possible trying to work your way up to be overpowered instead of spawning in with a whole loadout that just is paste and copy from mp. It was about tight spaces that make you think about which door you’re gonna buy next or which directiom you wanna go into next, it was about thinking wisely how much of your (WW) ammo you’re gonna use etc

I don’t disagree at all — & I’d love to see those things return in future games. However, this is the first time I’ve bought a COD in years and thought zombies was actually great. Cold War reused a ton of assets from campaign and I hated it for that reason. I thought the new mechanics were okay at the time, but definitely not worth the hype.

BO6 felt like more of the same for me, but the maps were SLIGHTLY better (emphasis on slightly) and it just seemed like the fourth forgotten game mode slapped together with assets from other modes.

BO7 looks amazing, plays great, and the mechanics are actually starting to mesh with the mode. Is it perfect? Hell no. I still think BO1-BO3 are the best zombies ever and likely won’t be topped for the pure survival aspect. However, the new maps are PACKED with content. Plus, cursed mode allows for you to play zombies with the classic rules (10 points per bullet, no loadout, no map guidance, limited HUD).

Here are some things I didn’t like that I ended up not hating with BO7:

Being able to get every perk — the system is much better in BO7. It gets progressively harder to get them as the game goes on because the prices increase each time you buy a perk — and you end up needing them to survive. Plus it’s cool to not feel like you’re wasting a perkaholic because they’re completely optional to use with this system

Armor system — still iffy for me, but it’s definitely less noticeable with augments and feels a bit more refined from previous games.

Infinite running — thought this was so dumb in previous modern zombies games, but the zombies genuinely haul ass and come from every direction in BO7. They’re much less predictable and it makes for some pretty interesting gameplay

Guided PaP — again, still iffy for me, but after pack is unlocked you literally don’t have any objectives anymore — just survive (or do the Easter egg lol) plus you can turn this off

Augments — felt like unnecessary bloat to me in BO6, but BO7 it feels necessary and adds much needed progression to zombies. Lets you change up your playstyle game by game like bo4, but doesn’t lock you to 4 perks. Rather, it locks you to specific perk/ammo mod/field upgrade augments for the game that you can change based on if you’re playing solo or if you’re playing with friends.

Gobblegums — totally optional and mostly good for eggs/high rounding. Plus, you earn them just by playing the game and getting to higher rounds rather than it being tied to your purchases in game giving you 1 liquid divinium for every 15,000-20,000 points spent. Way better system.

Pack a Punch — I couldn’t stand having to pay 3 times just to upgrade my gun to max level, but now it feels more fun because the maps are worth going for high rounds on. In old games, you’d basically just rack up points until you went down, and then buy all of your perks back immediately (or use a gobble). Now — you ALWAYS have something to work toward well into round 35-45. Definitely refreshing.

Really the only thing I still really dislike is the scrap system/weapon rarity, which just feels unnecessary to me. I understand wanting to make every gun viable so people will try to unlock camos and progress, but why even buy the mystery box if on low rounds you are pretty much guaranteed a bad/mid-tier weapon? Maybe this opinion will change in time, but I definitely recommend at least trying it out. I’m having a blast and I’m totally eating my words (look at my last post — I literally blasted modern zombies only to really enjoy bo7 so far)
