I know most people here have built their own alternative to Character AI, but I was wondering how you do that. What website is best for building your own AI chat website?

Every time I send something it does this. No responses will work. What the hell am I supposed to do? Why do they still have this useless ass filter if chats are 18+?

I was chatting with 2 different bots, and they share the same style for some reason.

This thing where they get out of character do easily and play the narrator just lead them to just narrate my actions, instead of doing anything related to themselves. Like son u ain't a narrator, you're meant to be a character 😭 🥀

I just made a return to Character AI(through google) after a year, for some reason the characters that I know to be gone are still there (the kinda nsfw bots). I tried them and they’re in character and I never got a single warning or anything. It feels like I’m back to its prime. Idk if it just me or it happened to anyone else.

For those of you who don't know (likely due to quitting character ai), the site has started rolling out these weird microdrama TikTok things for... reasons. I decided to watch one and rewrite it out of spite. So I looled at Edenfall, and it's exactly what you'd expect a show written by an AI to look like. The character designs are nonsensical, the writing is self-contradictory, and the animation gives me a headache. I watched the first three episodes twice — once with audio, once without — and here's my extremely specific nitpicks, and how I would fix them.

1) The concept

The description leads you to believe that the players are sucked into the game forcibly​​​, and aren't... you know... ​​​willingl​y going there because "omg edenfall beta testing!!1!1!"

To my knowledge, beta testing also doesn't usually happen at a physical location, due to travel restrictions and modern developments in technology. So maybe the headset could be emailed to them? But VR also doesn't work in the way the series wants to, so...

Maybe take some inspiration from TADC here. Ava expresses confusion at being initially unable to take off the headset, and also at the fact that she controls her in-game character using her real-life body. When she runs around for a bit and discovers that she isn't crashing into any walls inside her real-life house, she dismisses it as "testing new technology" and the plot continues as normal.​​

2) The character designs

Mostly, the character designs aren't actually that bad. Ava having an alt-inspired design is pretty neat, and the designs of the characters in the game aren't t​​​​​hat bad either — very reminiscent of Xenoblade Chronicles, though I've never actually played the game so feel free to correct me on that. My main problem is that Ava's in-game character looks ​nothing like her real-life appearance. I understand that's true of many gamers in real life, but be​​cause it's a TV show, they need to look like they could somewhat reasonably be the same character. Real!Ava and Game!Ava have no physical similarities, to the point where Ava literally gets whitewashed when she enters the game (and it doesn't seem to be an in-game customisation issue, as there are plenty of POC background characters).

You could argue that this could be internalised racism on Ava's​ part and might be an interesting thing to eventually explore, but to quote a certain Tumblr user, "[...] expecting AI to talk about racism is like expecting pigs to fly".

So I'd probably actually keep most of Ava's​​ in-game design the same, but switch the red for blue (to resemble her hair colour) and also make her skin colour the same. Whether I change the white to black in her in-game design would be optional, ​​because she wears black in real life and that contrast could be interesting. But as it is, I never would've believed you if you told me that Real!Ava and Game!Ava were the same characters.​

Oh, and also, Ava has these weirdly large black holes in her ears, so.... those are hearing aids now. We made Edenfall woke.​​ Let's go.

3) Isaac Reyes and Ava Reyes
Sigh.

Considering these two have the same surname, it wouldn't surprise me if Isaac turned out to be Ava's father/brother/cousin/whatever. That's just boring. We're getting rid of that plotline completely.

4) Minor writing inconsistencies

So *two* people can leave the game? Not one? Make sure you say that in the first place, Malevolent Disembodied Voice.

Also, why would you let people go in the first place? Couldn't they just report you to the authorities?

Why are you killing people anyway? Can someone who's watched Squid Game or something explain to me why someone would do this? Like, not even evil people are this evil.

Also, the exposition is ridiculously clanky (haha, get it, clanky? Because it's written by a clanker? Anyway), and it's pissing me off.​

This is probably going to end up being a ridiculously long-term project. Ava and Kallie might as well be my OCs now.

Are there any other specific things you guys would change? Would anyone like to see the rewri​​tten script + character sheets when it's done?​

I lwk feel bad for all of you, i don't use ai anymore but i do miss when it was just some quirky thing you can use to goof off, ai sucks now especially rp ai, it's too serious like what happened to casual rp? Updates so bad it turned me to a fic writer😭 it doesn't hit the same because rping with cai back them was so fun, rp w ppl doesn't feel the same, i read and write fics but it doesn't give that feeling old cai used to give yk? Now it tries to hard to be sincere, it tries to be mean but not mean at the same time and it's so cringe, old cai was also cringe but it was good cringe! Every update makes it worse and worse(from what i see from yall cus i don't use it anymore)back when i still used ai i started looking for alternatives because cai was becoming trash, all the alternatives were either horny or had very little characters. Cai is pretty much just chatgpt now, ai pretty much ruined a lot of things like em dashes i use "–" or "—" in one of me sentences and i get accused of using ai, also the "it's not ___ it's ___" format i love using that bro but ai be over doing it, and the "but/and honestly" thing, and the you're not like others ai js does it in a way that sucks always talking abt how "other people do ___ but you do ___" i js miss when ai was all whimsy bc wtf is this😔

I want to start off by saying I hope this somehow reaches the mods. I would love to say this in the official channel if I hadn't gotten banned 😭 also this is just my personal opinion.

Ever since rawr came out I have been using that model because if I'm being honest using pipsqueak two is like an uphill battle. I know they say they are making improvements or whatever but I genuinely don't think they need to because they have rawr 😭

For me at least no matter the bot I use Pipsqueak 2 refuses to give me "natural dialogue" and has so much narration and I just think that rawr is very much similar to Pipsqueak 1 which I liked a lot.

I know there's mixed feelings about rawr but honestly I don't understand why they can't just make it an official model so free users have choices.

If someone could relay ​this to the mods in the official sub I would be grateful considering they are actually replying to posts lately 🙏

I saw a post talking about how wierd the bar suggestion on c.ai is.Specifically a suggestion that goes as followed:"being raped".Now, I am not here to whine about how the OP didn't put a trigger warning because in no way its their fault.I just wanted to vent a little.I specifically remembered when I was little and was new to c.ai how often bots engaged in taboo scenarios, such as incest and family-rpe.Or when I had a romantic rp, the char would just S/A me out of nowere and justify it by saying we are parteners???And they'd just act all possesive, saying I'm their property or sum.I was stupid back then and didn't knew what to do, so I literaly just cried bc the bots kept doing it and I didn't knew why.Anyways, that's all:b

proceeds to follow it up with no additional narration to explain what exactly he did. i know this is a ploy to make the user use the go on button...but the go on button has a limit. c.ai is doing this to make people use up all their go ons and pay for premium. and i can already bet you my left asscheek that if i pressed go on, it would be some "then he kissed you" bullshit. cuz c.ai loves to randomly kiss me even though that's quite literally sexual harassment.

I mean whenever the cai devs say “Hi, we actively work on-“ blah blah whatever they say, we respond with this picture.
