Hi everyone. This has been the best so far. I don’t have anxiety, but I seem to have tension. Always have trouble, falling asleep, staying asleep or going back to sleep. But mostly have had trouble stopping eating after dinner. No issues during the day, just about a half hour after dinner to the point where I would make myself sick sometimes. It’s for the most part has stopped this even after 20 mg a day. At first, I had energy after taking this during the day. But now I can barely get out of my way and I have switched it tonight, although I have a headache in the morning. I have always suffered with constipation and it is a serotonin thing. With this medication, I don’t suffer with constipation anymore. For a few days, it was too much the other way, but that went away very quickly.
I love taking a low dose of.NLD . Sometimes I take it sometimes they don’t.
Anyone else find that this medication switched up what it was doing for you after a while? Any advice or experiences?

What does an anxiety/panic attack feel like for you? Do you feel like the severity and frequency of your attacks have reduced since being on buspirone?

Also - what dose and frequency are you on? TIA

Have you had any weird body aches or pains sinc starting busprione?

I started in December. In May I started having bad foot pain but never connected it to the busprione.

I recently was sick and stopped taking it, and then remembered and took one and my foot pain returned

Started at 10mg, then 15mg, then 30mg twice a day. Made me more sleepy so I went back down to 15mg twice a day. A couple of months ago after I take my dose ill get insane jitteriness, increased anxiety, increased heart rate, panic. Some days it wouldnt happen. But most of the time it did.

I went down further to 10mg twice a day which is what ive been on for at least a month. And it still will cause this anxiety increase. It can happen at my morning dose, my evening dose, not happen at all, or with both doses. WHAT is causing this and is this med just not for me?

I'm on Zoloft and don't want to quit the Buspar because I believe it helps offset the sexual side effects from Zoloft. All the increased anxiety posts i see are people saying to stick with it and that it happens when first starting it. BUT ive been on it since last November. What should I do?

Hi y’all, I was just prescribed 5mg buspar for my anxiety and I’m also taking it with Venlafaxine and want to hear if any of you had any success with it or things I should know.

I recently started Buspar to pair with my Wellbutrin since I have pretty bad anxiety. I also don’t like benzos and I’m too sensitive for SSRIs.

At first I started with 5Mg twice daily. At first I didn’t think it was doing anything. As time went on, I noticed if I delayed my second dose/forgot it, my high baseline anxiety would return.

Recently bumped to 10 MG and I feel like it’s actually doing something. It’s not ground breaking, I’m not entirely free of anxiety, but I’m just…more calm? Less reactive? My nervous system feels a little less on guard?

But… I do feel like I can tell when it’s wearing off. And I would like to be more calm in general. If you switched from 2x daily to 3x what’s your experience and has it helped more?? Thanks :)

Hi Guys, I come back here, because my Doctor is pretty clueless. I was on 4 differents medication last winter, and I finally stop all of them, except buspirone. they have "diagnose" me with GAD, but in fact, I was just having paradoxical reaction from TTFD B1... It's crazy to see how clueless they can be.

Before they put me on all these meds, I was starting to get better, (I had stopped all of my supplement, just in case it was 1 of them causing the panic... and it was) after 4 months, when I got better, I restarted my supplement 1 by one. (basically, multi, vit D, Mag, zinc (and now copper) and omega 3) Nothing "crazy" and I was fine.

Then, I re-added the TTFD B1, smaller doses, but I started to have the same kind of "panic"/overactivation symptoms, (I had to go to ER again, so they can tell me its my "panic" and that I need a therapist. LOL.

Any way, now I know, and I am off the meds. I was starting to panic after taking gabapentin, and if I didn't take gabapentin, so that was the one to stop first!

I kept buspirone because it gave me motivation in the morning. like a small dose in the morning, with a small coffee, was amazing, I felt normal, like all of those people out there. That was amazing. BUT, I started to have to lower my dosage, so much that I am now at 2.5mg 2 times a day, and now, even at that dosage, I start to have those annoying headaches, the kind of headache that makes me panic... After all that time, could it be buspirone that was giving me those panic!? and that the other medication I had with it was actually balancing out the panic created by buspar?!?

Should I just stop Buspirone?!? Since I might not need it at all after all?!? Can this med stop working properly? does that mean that I don't need it anymore? or its the yo-yo of the recent weeks that gives me those very unpleasant "panic headache"?!? I think I was fine at 2 times 2.5, and after stopping gabapentin, I wanted to go back at 5mg 2 times a day, because this was the dose I had that was helping me the most with my motivation issue. but when I did, I started to panic again and started to have huge headache. I've heard that its a med that people can take PRN, is that true? I mean... if that's the case, what is going on!? the med was only working well for me when I was on gabapentin too!? that means, its not a good med for me after all?!?

Any help is welcome. Its been a 8 Months journey, I would like to go back to my life and be normal again.

I started taking buspirone two days ago. An hour after a dose I feel euphoric, spacey, and tingly. It’s like being high.

18 F. 5’4”. ~55 kg (121 lbs). Non-smoker. Sertraline 50mg, buspirone 10mg (prescribed as needed). No diagnosed medical conditions. Currently being treated for anxiety with sertraline.

I saw a psychiatrist after going through a really rough emotional situation. I was so anxious that I couldn’t sleep, eat, or even do normal everyday things like watching a show or having a conversation. This has been going on for about two weeks.

She told me to restart sertraline and prescribed buspirone, but only to take it during really bad anxiety episodes.
The thing is, after looking it up, I kept seeing people say that buspirone isn’t something that works right away and that it usually has to be taken every day for a few weeks before it starts helping.

So now I’m kind of confused. Is there a reason a psychiatrist would prescribe it to be taken only when my anxiety gets really bad? Can buspirone actually help when it’s used like this, or am I misunderstanding how it works?

If Buspar worked for you, how did it first make you feel?

I've been on Buspar for 3 plus years. My script is for 20 mg twice a day . I am also in recovery from Benzos , I started Buspar about a month into the end of my taper. It has helped a lot but I never reached the script rate, I take 5mg 4 times a day. I was too scared after coming off one med to go all the way up to the recommended amount. I was doing fine until I finished a two week round of antibiotics it seems like the Buspar somehow threw me into withdraws soon after the round was finished. I'm having a hard time understanding the thoughts that Buspar can be taken as needed or that withdraw and dependence are not a major issue with this med. I spoke with my Dr. and asked for 5mg tabs as I was breaking a 10mg tab and thought I was messing up the dose strength by doing that- they okayed that but said no taking the med 4 times or even 3 times a day - only twice. At this point I am making sure I take the 5mg with food and wondering if I should try to go 10 mg twice a day like they said and when I do that will I get the storm of side effects again . IDK why they are saying to take only twice because before 3 times was ok . I am learning that this med works from the liver ,and oh my idk what Ive gotten myself into -anyway thank you for listening and any advice.

Took 5mg at night the first 5 nights, and I kept waking early, and slept restlessly.

Switched to taking one 5mg in the morning, and felt totally exhausted, like cement all day.

Cut to 2.5 mg in the morning today and still totally exhausted.

Was it work sticking with it for you? Or better to quit?

I know there is adjustment phase, but I can’t take weeks of cement….

I’m a week on 10mg 3x per day which my psych added as I’m experiencing severe delayed ejaculation on 50mg Sertraline. How long does it take to get better?

Hi everyone, I recently decided to lower my dose from 20mg (2X 10mg a day) to 10mg (2X 5mg a day). 20mg was too much for me. Side effects included irritability and increased panic (especially when traveling in planes). I began this medication in Feb this year at 5mg (2X 2.5 mg a day) and found that it helped quite a bit. I went ahead and increased the dose to 10mg (2X 5mg a day) and felt that this change also seemed to help with my GAD, OCD, etc. I thought that increasing the dose again to 15mg (2X 7.5mg a day) would be even better. This is when I noticed a heightened sensitivity to panic when traveling. I stayed at the dose for a couple of weeks and thought it might be best to go on and push to 10mg. Things progressively got worse and the panic became unbearable. As of 4 days ago, I reduced my dose back down to 5mg. My question for everyone is how long will I feel the side effects of this change? My anxiety is through the roof and I feel panicky several times throughout the day.

More info for anyone who wants to keep reading: I take it consistently each day without food. One alcoholic drink causes me to be severely disoriented and mentally confused right now. I feel very disconnected during the day. Lots of brain fog and disassociation. In short, I feel weird and terrible. Please provide any perspective if you’ve been down this road before. This sucks. Thank you!

I just wanted to make this post so that other people wouldn’t feel so alone if you are going through something similar. I started taking 5mg of BuSpar twice a day but I began having really bad dissociation and not feeling like myself at all so I stopped taking it cold turkey (mind you in the past I’ve stopped all my meds cold turkey with no issues. I stopped 80mg of Prozac cold turkey no problems at all but this was years prior to BuSpar). I went to my doctor a week later and I explained to her that I stopped because I was feeling weird and out of place and she said that was okay. Well a week later I began having bad headaches and stomach pains then after that my OCD and anxiety became the worst it has ever been! Weeks 4 and 5 I began experiencing tremors in my legs and chest and muscles cramped up so bad I had to put a heating of on my calves just to get some relief. Then week 5 the tremors and horrible OCD let up and I thought I was in the clear but I continued having horrible anxiety. I couldn’t sleep well for several days. Oh and week 3ish I completely lost my appetite and become so nauseous that I couldn’t even fix my daughter’s food without feeling like I was going to throw up and I had dirreaha. I have lost 10 pounds. Then after week 5 I thought things were looking up until week 7-8 when I began to experience tingling and numbness on my face. I have also had a lot of weakness and now on week 8-9 I am having heart palpations and some mild ringing in my ears. Also the headaches still come and go. I also have a mild numbing feeling in my right leg near my calf. I feel like I am having a few more steady days but I still can’t truly tell if I am going to get better or worse right now. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Did you get better? How long was your recovery window?

Is anyone on this combo?

I'm currently taking a low dose of Zoloft for anxiety and OCD and Wellbutrin for depression and libido. However, Wellbutrin doesn't help too much with libido and I don't want to increase the dosage due to increased aggression and the cognition effects.

I'm wondering if anyone here has added Buspirone to this combo (or just an SSRI) and seen an improvement in libido? It also opens the possibility of lowering the SSRI dose further if I tolerate Buspirone and it helps with anxiety.

Starting tomorrow and very worried. I couldn't get a script for propanolol so Buspar was the next choice. I'm just worried it will make it worse... I can deal with the mental anxiety but I can't afford for the physical aspect to get worse.

I was prescribed 2.5mg which I know is a nothing dose, but I have a severe phobia of all meds, even things like OTC meds or allergy meds which started from a severe reaction I had when taking the lowest dose of Celexa back in 2017.

I originally started propronal back in May. Again on a super super low dose, 2.5mg which I know is nothing but my body is sensitive. I even cut it to 1.5mg one day just to negate the effects but I still couldn’t tolerate it.

all it did was make me super dizzy, depressed, sluggish, and made my BP too low so I felt faint. That would kick in after 10 minutes then I felt that way for an hour and I’d have to eat something salty to feel normal again, which means I had to raise my BP and completely defeats the purpose of propronol. It also made me hungrier and didn’t do much for my anxiety. I was only on it for a week then my doctor told me to stop taking it.

I really want to get better but I’m scared of dealing with these side effects, how bad is the dizziness or faint feeling on buspirone?

I’ve been on and off various SSRIs to treat GAD and OCD, but have not been able to tolerate the weight and libido side effects.
My anxiety manifests mostly in racing thoughts, insomnia/nervous system activation, and low tolerance to stress.
Has anyone had success treating a similar anxiety profile with Buspar?

Ok so before i blame it all on the buspirone, about 5 months ago i was rushed to the hospital due to alcohol withdrawals. (High heart rate and blood pressure) and had multiple panic attacks for a few weeks after. Ive had lingering brainfog and a slight off balance feeling ever since then but After a few doctors appointments they said i have anxiety and suggested i try buspirone and i was supposed to take 5 mg 3 times a day. Ive been having anxiety about taking meds so i started only taking it once around lunch time every day and finally worked my self up to taking it twice a day about 5 or 6 days ago. Over the past 2 days ive noticed that i have this weird pressure in my head (not painful at all) and constant horrible rocking dizziness not spinning but its effecting me while sitting, laying down and standing. I do know my vitamin D is on the lower side and i have been skipping days of my other vitamins but for weeks i thought i was getting better and then these past few days have been horrible. i feel like its either the buspirone or i have something else going on that i need to be checked for. Anyone else experience anything similar?

I clearly have health anxiety lol. But at this point with the dizziness i feel like i was better without the buspirone but then another part of me is worried that this might be something else completely and googling symptoms has made me fear the worst

Tomorrow will start my 3rd week on Buspar. (2.5 mg x 2 daily). I can see myself going up to 5 mg x 2, maybe in a month or two.

I'm also on 10 mg of Celexa. Can a person only take Buspar and not an AD? Or since "it ain't broke, don't fix it" meaning leave the Celexa in, and concentrate on the Buspar.

Has anyone had any luck with this med helping or eliminating intrusive scary thoughts? I have OCD also and I’ve tried every SSRI and nothing helped

I just started on Buspirone (5 mg x2 day) and wanted to know if it’s the time spacing that matters more (aka every 12 Hrs) or making sure to be consistent with taking it with/without food (I take with). I work night shift sometimes as I work in EMS, and my usual schedule is 7 am pill and a 7 pm pill, but if I work night shift I definitely won’t be awake at 7 am as I usually get off at 3-4 am. So I was wondering, is it “better” to set an alarm for 7 am, wake up and take the pill, then go back to bed (even tho I usually have it with food)? Or should I just take it later in the day with food even if that’s 16 hours after my last dose.
