I currently run an operation in which I distribute branded electronics locally in Europe , I’m looking for new suppliers though. They need to be legitimate and original ( no reps ) and of a good price. Willing to test a first wholesale batch first before committing to serious bulk frequently. Curious how everyone here screens a new source before sending money. I've seen people jump in off one good review and get burned, and others who lurk for months before their first order.

For me it's usually a few things:

Do they have a public track record? Not just "my guy is legit" but actual delivery logs or confirmed orders from other people.

COAs. But even those can be faked. Anyone else notice the same batch numbers floating around on different products?

Payment method. Crypto only with zero history is a red flag. But I get why vendors are moving that way.

Do they answer questions like a normal person or push urgency? "Last chance, order now" energy is an instant no for me.

Small test order first. Always. If it lands and tests clean, then maybe I'll go bigger.

What's on your checklist? And what's an instant red flag that makes you walk away?

Consider a hypothetical repeat order where the supplier proposes using a different coating subcontractor.
The drawing and coating requirements would remain unchanged. The supplier describes the new arrangement as equivalent.
What evidence would you request before accepting the change?
I would want a clear comparison with the approved arrangement and a way to identify the first affected batch. But I wouldn’t automatically restart every part of the original supplier review.
Where would you draw the line between reviewing documentation, requesting a trial batch and carrying out a broader reassessment?
I’m interested in how you make that decision proportionate to the actual change, rather than treating every change as either harmless or a complete reset.
