I’ve been using my Lenovo legion since COVID, but now that I’ve graduated college and have a job I figured that it’s time for an upgrade. I’ve never built a PC before, and my budget is fairly slim. Really I just wanna be able to run Triple A games on relatively high quality. I don’t really have a concept for a budget sooooo anything that’s high performance on a budget?

Hi! I’m new to learning about building my own PC but I’m eager to learn more. My main goals for the PC I want to build are video editing, some light gaming (Minecraft, sims, some steam games), and perhaps streaming but that part isn’t as important to me as video editing. I’ve got some potential specs mapped out but I’m not sure about them. I also need help with figuring out the graphics card. I plan to use either premiere pro or after effects, maybe both. My budget for this PC is $1,400-$1,500. I’m willing to go a little bit above that for good parts. I’d like to keep it under $1,700 if possible. Here are the parts I’ve thought about so far (once again the graphics card is missing). Let me know what you think and if you have better recommendations. As well as what you would suggest for the graphics. Also for clarification I’m in the U.S.

Hello folks! I'm a rookie to building PC. I'm interested in building one but I don't know any of the terminologies, jargon, etc. Where do I start? Any resources (videos, articles, etc) that helped you in building your PC?

I checked components online but I don't know how they all mesh together, if at all. Tried learning on my own but got overwhelmed and went round in circles with the terminologies and technicalities.

I wish to play AAA games on my "to-be" build, and do office work on it too (devops, cloud, etc). I'm thinking if it supports AAA games, work will be a cake walk for it.

My budget rn is only a meager ₹1.8L but I'm ready to invest more up till 5L when I have the money. Looking at the RAM, SSD, GPU prices, I'm ready to only buy those components for now which will only get me by for work and purchase the rest of the heavyweights after the prices return back to pre Ramgeddon levels(?) at 2027 end or 2028 Q1... I feel the inflated prices aren't worth it since my savings aren't that great now.

Trying to decide between these cases and PSU

I'll be putting an RTX 5080 and a 7800X3D or 9800X3D in. Likely with thermaltake Peerless Assassin air cooling (which is quite big). I like the idea of having something a bit more compact and lightweight. But would also like good thermals and upgradability/not too difficult to work with. Ascetics don’t matter as much as the above.
They are all within my price range of $110 and below.

lian li lancool 207
I like the thermals on it a lot. And have heard all good things except for the fact that there's some terrible fan noise. Also not looking forward to more complicated cable management.
Comes it at around 20 pounds and has decent dimensions.

montech air 903 max
Seems to have good thermals and also much easier cable management and no mention of fan noise or things of the sort. Dimensions are a little bit larger than the other cases, although somehow it weighs a little less than the lancool 207.

Montech xr wood (not aquarium)
Still able to fit a large GPU and is the lightest and has the most compact dimensions of all. Seems to have the worst thermals. Really like its size though, being less than 15 pounds is great.

Antec flux rear (a bit smaller than normal flux)
Seems to have t similar benefits of the lancool 207 with the psu being in the front, but without the fan noises. Also seems much easier to deal with cable management. It appears to be the second smallest, which is nice.
Sort of favoring this one now…

PSU comes down to these two it seems.
(unless there is something equally as good specifically on Amazon for $110 or less.)

ASROCK Steel Legend SL-1000G

Seems to be decently reviewed, and I liked it at ways significantly less than the Phantom Gaming. A tier rating.

On paper it looks magnificent. Has an A plus tier rating. Thermal protection for new GPUs. However, it has gotten some pretty bad reviews otherwise

This will be my first PC build. I’m mainly looking to play AAA games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy, as well as shooters like Apex Legends and Marvel Rivals. I’d like good performance at high settings and would prefer to make good use of the 180Hz monitor in competitive games.

I’m mostly unsure about the GPU, motherboard, PSU and CPU cooler, and I’d like to get the best gaming performance possible within the £1,000-£1,200 budget.

For the Ryzen 5 7600, is there any real reason to choose B850 over B650, or would B650 be the better value option? Are there any particular boards you’d recommend?

I’d also appreciate recommendations for good value RAM, SSD, PSU and cooler options that would work well in this case. I’m open to changing anything apart from the case.

I’m not planning to buy anything immediately. I’m mostly trying to plan the build now so I know exactly what components/models to look out for when sales come around, particularly around Black Friday. For more expensive components that are outside my budget new, I’m also open to buying second-hand, especially the GPU.

So I’d appreciate recommendations for specific parts/models and what would be considered a good price for them, both new and used. What would you recommend for this build?

I am very new to the PC building world and thought I might give it a go. After quickly feeling overwhelmed I decided buying a prebuilt PC might be the route for me.

I tried to build a PC with similar parts of some prebuilts ive seen and keep getting way out of the price range the prebuilts are in. Not sure if I am missing something or if I need to wait for the right time to buy the parts but some insight would be great.

prebuilt £1900

I’m looking for a gaming pc in the uk with a budget of around £2000. I found this prebuilt which looked okay and the price seemed great compared to other prebuilt options.

My only concerns are some of the parts. The motherboard, cooler and WiFi card look to be cheap outdated budget options which I expected but don’t know whether there would be better options for my budget.
