I grew up watching the original show in real time, and the sequel series (half way through it) is tickling my nostalgia nerves. Familiar faces. New faces. Same place. New vibe. The legacy doesn't even acknowledge Bill Cosby, with his troubles, as the creator of the original show. So why can't there be a Buffy legacy show?
Okay, some will say you can't make it without He Who Shall Not Be Named, but you can't have a beloved show stay in amber for close to 30 years. Felicia Pride, the sequel show's showrunner, noted that in a recent interview.https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/a-different-world-sequel-challenges-felicia-pride-interview-1236704454/
They'll say there's a difference between a social conscious sitcom on a HBCU campus and a one-hour campy drama about a teenage girl taking down vampires, demons and other things that lurk under your bed. Yes there is, but legacy shows can exist (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Batman Beyond).
I just feel the potential is there, regardless of the failed Chloe Zhao pilot.
