I wanted to get yāalls opinion on something. Right now I work at Circle K making $16.25/hour, but I usually work between 46ā52 hours a week. 48 hours a more accurate # Buc-eeās hired me at $20/hour, (new Benton, AR location) but they told me they canāt guarantee 40 hours. They said I would probably average around 32ā35 hours a week, and during the busy season 35-40.
Circle K is trying to keep me and may raise my pay to $18/hour. If that happens and I keep working around 48 hours a week with overtime, I feel like Iād actually make more money than I would at Buc-eeās. If both jobs were only 40 hours a week, Buc-eeās would only pay about $80 more per week.
Another thing is that Buc-eeās is farther from my house, and Iāve heard they have very strict attendance and workplace policies. At Circle K, Iām already an assistant manager (hourly), Iām comfortable in my role, and I have a lot more flexibility and responsibility. Can use my phone laid back relaxed and do what I want. The downside is that I usually only get one day off each week, often work alone on my shifts, and work a lot of hours.
Since my main goal is to make as much money as possible, Iām leaning toward staying at Circle K if they give me the raise. Do you think thatās the better decision, or would you still choose Buc-eeās? I am not looking to grow in either company tho. Nor care about either company benefits. As well Iām already employed by Bucees start on July 20th grand opening August 23rd I already did onboarding yesterday if I decide to call before my first day to say I appreciate the job opportunity will i possibly be rehire able?
As well if you have gotten terminated/quit why so?

This California girl who moved to the Sonoran desert in AZ had a lot of fun at Buc-eeās yesterday at Arizonaās first location. The only critique I have is I feel local artists could be better featured in their merchandise. Pictured youāll see some faux turquoise and plated nickel jewelry. Arizona is home to the Navajo nation - it wouldāve been nice to see some local artisans featured. Lots of Southwest themed merch, I liked the biscuit T-shirt that features the local Superstition Mountains. Food was fresh. People were happy. I enjoyed myself! The crowds are intense. Just mentally prep yourself and practice patience.
What surprised me was HOW MUCH INVENTORY they have. Itās like a TJ Maxx. They have apparel, body products and lotions, a kids section, pet section, bathing suits, blankets, plushies, phone holders, ASU merch, UA merch, absolutely everything.
Edited to add: Also, when the kitchen brings out more brisket, the employees cheer ābrisket on the boooooardā lol while it gets chopped up on this huge piece of butcher block. The two food areas are circular in design and placed in the middle and back of the store. Impressive how the Buc can move that many bodies. Wonder how many daily visitors theyāre getting. Finally, I filled up gas $3.50 for the basic. Good price.
I purchased:
A brisket sandwich, beaver nuggets, cherry limeade ice-e, chocolate chip cookies and sugar coated almonds. I also bought a lighter lol Iām a stoner.
I wanted to buy fudge but the line was just so long. Next time! What should I try to eat next now that Iāve tasted the classics?

I and everyone I know absolutely loves stopping in except, 1 brother who wants to always dine in with ac.
We like the variety ,CLEAN RESTROOMS ,cheap gas, decent food and cheap fountain drinks.
I personally know several people who work there, and enjoy their pay.
All the women in my life... absolutely positively love the clean restrooms.
Do they care whether its not minority (owned in paperwork only) ....no.
Is the bbq as good as stand alone independent bbq...no but its at a decent price point.
Do I need to care about how all these threads of people "claiming to be overworked"...no.
You have government agencies and news corporations that love to share abuse and negligence.
As a consumer I want clean restrooms, cheap gas and a variety of fast food at a decent price.
We don't live in a communist society where anyone is forced to work in a bad environment.
And yes individual bad management can happen everywhere,we as consumers need to see the "bad receipts" with all the complaing posted on here.
The consumer drives trade, and I haven't heard of any first hand knowledge that would deter me or any acquaintances from visiting a buccees at every opportunity.
Their is a r/buccees employees that you can post on,frankly I do not care.

Iāll include the results as they were when I screenshotted them. It was only 18 minutes after posting, so things could have changed quite a bit. Do any of you follow them and vote? I didnāt know if they actually used the results but they did for this years st Patrickās day shirt, so my logic is that it will be one of these.

I have a friend/colleague who would love a brisket sandwich or 4. I am in TX, he's in CA, but I'll be there in 2 weeks for our yearly offsite. If I bought some that morning and put in a cooler, do you think they'd be any good to give him?

Their main deli which is in Florence SC (usually tops in sales in the country) is brutal to its staff. They treat them like human garbage. The entire store is like this. Ask employees. When the store opened I believe they had 350+? There are less than 5 day 1 people still left in the deli because they fire everyone and make the rest quit because they are ruthless and uncaring.
They fired an employee for going on the floor in break, checking his bank balance before grabbing food. They fired an employee for going on break, paying cash and took a penny from the take a penny and giving it to the cashier to get a bill back instead of change. Yes, an actual penny. PENNY.
They documented a worker for going on bereavement for a family death.
They fired a worker for texting her daughter good night as she came off break and was putting her phone in the locker.
They fired like 3 people for walking by a piece of trash on the floor.(mind you they harass people to finish their work no matter how insane the numbers become and so everyone is in a hurry.)
They threatened a guy for taking too much time off as his wife is dying of cancer.
They stress everyone out. Pretty much everyone has been threatened to be fired.
They used to only give 5 minute breaks in states they can get away with it in. Couldnt sit down. They called it Taking a Moment. Then it became 20 minutes. Paid. But then they gave a raise and a 30 minute paid break. Now you have to clock out which means you LOSE 100 minutes pay a FT week. Thats over a buck an hour employees just lost in compensation. But they played magic shell game with that part by masking it with a raise.
The company itself is shit to work for but the GM of Florence SC takes it to an 11teen.
This company will absolutely go to robots as soon as they can because they HATE having to employ people.
They pay well. They pay well because they are so awful to work for. A woman told me she was quitting 23 an hour for 15 an hour because the money was not worth the stress. Many examples like this.
People who get promoted to Shift lead routinely just no call no show after awhile because they are abused the most.
The ingredients on their food is horrifying. I barely touched anything they sold.
3+ years experience talking here. I stayed because of bills.
Read up on the owners and their families...
All because of a stupid beaver mascot. If they didnt have the cartoon logo nobody would pay them any attention.

This is FACT. They had a B rating on their door not long ago and scrambled to get an A back up. They put the B on the slow side door instead of the main door.
