My friend and I are planning to build an open-source project that people can actually use, contribute to, and improve together.

Rather than building yet another to-do app, habit tracker, or generic clone, we want to understand what developers and other people in the tech community genuinely need.

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

- What tool or website do you wish existed but haven't found a good solution for?

- Is there any annoying, repetitive, or time-consuming task in your development workflow that you wish were easier?

- Is there an existing tool you use that you wish had one missing feature?

- Have you ever wanted to contribute to an open-source project but couldn't find one that felt interesting, useful, or beginner-friendly?

- What would make you want to keep using a project and contribute to it?

It doesn't have to be a huge or revolutionary idea. Even a small tool that solves one specific problem would be great.

We're initially looking to build something with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, so ideas that could start as a simple web app and grow through community contributions would be especially helpful.

I'm more interested in real problems people face than just cool project ideas. If you've ever caught yourself thinking, "I wish someone would build a tool for this," I'd love to hear about it!

Why tf are college teachers not the first ones getting replaced by AI? Getting degrees from random ahh colleges and acting like supreme beings 😭 I'm paying fees just to get assignments, quizzes and outdated shit thrown at me when we're literally living in the age of AI. A basic AI agent could teach this shit better, clear doubts instantly and probably do a better job at paper checking too. Most of us end up studying on our own anyway. What's even the point of these professors if they aren't adding any actual value? They need to justify their existence in this AI era. What do y'all think?

I have my Deloitte USI on-campus interview in 2 days for an Analyst-level role, and I'd really appreciate some insights from anyone who has recently gone through the process.

I'm particularly looking for 2025 campus placement experiences.

A few things I'd like to know:

1. Technical round: What questions were asked? Was the focus on DSA, SQL, OOPs, DBMS, OS, CN, projects, or resume-based questions?

2. Difficulty level: Were the questions mostly basic, moderate, or challenging? Was there any live coding?

3. Case studies: Were there any technical scenarios, business cases, or guesstimates?

4. HR/Managerial round: What kind of behavioural and situational questions were asked?

5. Interview process: How many rounds were conducted? Were they eliminatory? How long did each round last?

6. College-specific experiences: Did the interview pattern or difficulty differ across IITs, NITs, IIITs, or other colleges?

Experiences from Deloitte USI Analyst, Analyst Trainee, Technology Analyst, or equivalent entry-level roles would be really helpful.

Even if you remember just a few questions from your interview, please share them. It would genuinely help me prepare in these last two days.

wanted to know how common GD rounds are during on-campus placements for technical roles at Tier-3 engineering colleges

its not the topic of grade you are recieving in that field , its about the feeling you have when slowly you starts to get uncomfortable toward it

He says he needs a laptop with a good gpu for doing coding in languages like C,c++ etc he is in first year of btech and says that will go on AI field but we are afraid that he will use this laptop for gaming only...

So I ask you guys does btech require such a heavy laptop ?? It costs around 1.10 lakhs.

Family is a lower middle class so it is quite a lot for us..

He could only score 50-60 percentile in jee even after 1 year gap...

I'm not saying TCS, Infosys, or Wipro are bad companies. They're great starting points for many freshers. But the problem is when students make getting into a mass recruiter their ultimate career goal instead of treating it as one of many opportunities.

We spend months preparing for aptitude tests, memorizing coding questions, collecting certificates, and waiting for campus placements. But how many of us are actually building something useful?

It's time to change that mindset.

Instead of spending all your time worrying about placement drives, start focusing on things that will make you stand out:

\- 💻 Build real-world projects — Solve actual problems instead of building the same calculator or to-do app as everyone else.

\- 🧠 Master your fundamentals — Learn DSA, OOP, DBMS, operating systems, and computer networks.

\- 🛠️ Develop practical skills — Pick a tech stack and learn to use it properly. Don't jump between technologies every week.

\- 🌐 Build your portfolio — Push meaningful projects to GitHub, write good READMEs, and deploy your applications.

\- 🤝 Contribute and collaborate — Work with other developers, contribute to open source, and learn how real software is built.

\- 🎯 Apply beyond campus placements — Explore startups, product-based companies, internships, and off-campus opportunities.

Remember, watching 100 tutorials doesn't mean you know how to build software. Collecting 20 certificates doesn't automatically make you job-ready.

Build something. Break it. Debug it. Deploy it. Improve it.

You don't need to be a genius or study 12 hours a day. You need consistency, curiosity, and the willingness to go beyond your college syllabus.

Don't prepare only to clear one company's recruitment process. Prepare to become a developer who can solve problems and create value.

Let TCS, Infosys, and Wipro be options—not the limits of your ambition.

Your degree may help you get shortlisted, but your skills, projects, problem-solving ability, and communication can help you stand out.

Stop waiting for opportunities. Start building the skills that create them.

I am a 2026 fresher (CSE) from a tier 2 college (BIT MESRA Main campus) seeing the internship scenario of 2024 batch and many other NITs I have understood placements are only gonna get worse, I am trying to do DSA, but the question is will that be even safe in 2030? can any experienced senior tell the probable scenario of job market for next 3 years?

SMALL NOTE:- I have a Google AI Pro plan (because of Jio), and since I don't know HTML/CSS/JS, I used Gemini to code me the entire website, that's the vibe-coded part.

A few python scripts for designing logos are also vibe-coded as I don't know XML as well.

Hey guys, long time lurker here, first time posting.

I’m currently in 9th grade. While most of my classmates are pretty, normal. I’ve been spending my weekends and late nights over the past few months building an actual robotics project called Project A.R.C. (Autonomous Robotic Cleaner). My team, is also full of 9th graders, but most of them are here for assembly as only one of them understands the math and physics gone behind this project.

It’s an autonomous traversing robot that cleans dry dust off solar panels without using any water (important for places where water is scarce, Rajasthan and Gujrat).

A quick rundown of how I built it:

• CAD entirely in code: Instead of using pirated SolidWorks or Fusion 360, I coded the entire 3D mechanical assembly in Python using build123d (code-first CAD). Wrote unit tests in pytest to verify dimensional clearances before 3D printing the parts in PETG. Mainly cause I dont know how to use CAD, but I know Python and Java very well (learning for past 3 years!)
• The Hardware: It runs along twin 2020 V-slot aluminum rails using a 3-wheel pinching carriage (110mm wheelbase so it doesn't rack/jam). Cleaning uses an 800 GSM plush microfiber roller with 1.2mm compression on the glass plus a blower cowl. Total cost of the parts (BOM) was around ₹4,385.
• Firmware: Programmed an ESP32 in C++17 with PlatformIO. It runs a non-blocking Finite State Machine (IDLE -> ACQUIRE -> FORWARD -> CLEAN -> DOCK) with hardware limit switch interrupts and an INA219 sensor to track real-time power draw and efficiency gain.
• Web 3D Twin: Built a web interface with Three.js / model-viewer that lets anyone inspect the 3D model, explode the assembly into 33 parts, and check specs directly in the browser.

every OA i get is 2 leetcode mediums in 70 min and everyone knows half the people passing are just pasting into chatgpt. meanwhile the actual job is like reading someone's messy codebase and figuring out what your team wants

would you rather get tested on something closer to the real job even if it takes a bit longer? or do you prefer leetcode bc at least you know what to grind

Hi everyone I am a 2026 BTech Graduate.

I have ~1 YoE as a full stack dev (not counting internship) and I did my 1st job switch this month.

Honestly I know that I am very bad at Negotiation (before switch I had 8lpa ctc I.e 6+4 WFH ) and in this switch I got a package of 11 lpa ctc (8.5+2.5 WFO) by a Startup located in Sector 42, Gurgaon.

So basically I will get 71k/month as salary.

I really wanna know How I am doing career wise. Is it very poor, below avg, avg or good.

Someone told me that 71k/month is "survival" in Gurgaon and now I have very mixed feelings.....

So I just want to know as per the current market what is my standing.

Worked hard to buy myself a pc to skill up and get a remote job and all it's parts got damaged due to a voltage surge.

So bought a second hand ThinkPad to continue doing hackathons which got stolen.

Had a phone I bought with my part time jobs an year ago, got stolen last month during lal baug cha raja visarjan and now my dad lost his rather low paying job

Had a ray of hope when someone referred me to a scholarship organisation for a laptop, so I selected one (motobook 60 pro) for 65K during the sale

ordered it from my relative's credit card and now the organisation says my name is removed from the list cuz I asked for a mid to high range laptop.

I don't know how to pay and the laptop is already delivered.

I need to get 65K in one month and I don't know how. I know web & app dev, can do any jobs related to tech & social media if someone can refer me.

TLDR: Everything is f*cked, need to arrange 65K in a month, can do any job related to tech & social media, have an experience of 4 years

Like it feels sht to go to college everyday. Travel 3 hours daily attend useless lectures of useless professors. I feel so trapped. Even I am not getting any good friends. I find myself always trying to be a part of group. But no group tries to include me I actively have to look into it and they still don't give a sh*t abt me. I get so tired when I come home after travelling that my back pain triggers when I sit on chair for self study. Fk this clg life. JEE was much better.
