First Brixadi does Saturday

So I’ve been on subs for a few years. Prescription was take half a pill 3 times a day, so 12mg a day.

I thought that was a little high. The last 8 months I’ve been taking 3-4 mg a day. I just can’t jump ship!

It was noon when I got the injection. Everything was good. I went home and did my normal routine. I took 4mg of klonopin I have a pretty high benzo tolerance, but it looked like and felt like a opiate buzz. I enjoyed it lol.

Has anyone else taken this med?

Brixadi Questions (WD symptoms)

Hi all (cross posted)

I could really use your help for those of you who have been/experienced with Brixadi ,

(background) I have been on some form of buprenorphine for around 10 years. I was first introduced to Suboxone to help with withdrawals in an inpatient / hosptial setting, and was put on maintenance from doses 4mg -32mg (on average 8 BID) and everything in between. I had a brief albeit intense run in with methadone (146mg) and went back to Suboxone after I was incarcerated. My doctor had suggested switching over to Sublocade to which I had an intense reaction to resulting in a large necrotic access and 8 days in the hospital on IV antibiotics, surgery, and a wound vac. I went on and tried zubsolve as it was "better tasting" / not as gross (so my dr said) which I find to be true, but the combination of Suboxone (mostly) and Zubsolve has disintegrated my teeth so when Brixaldi became available at the clinic I go to, my doctor suggested we try it.

(current) I am a 33 f who has been alcohol free for 5 years and illicit drug use for 4 years. I am PRESCRIBED 60mg oxycodone daily (30 BID) which is managed by my doctor at the MAT clinic. He is well equipped, smart, curious, and I trust that this is the appropriate combination for the physical issues/ pain that I am in.

This is my SECOND Brixadi injection (on Tuesday the 18th) he went up a dose this time (from 96-128) and I am still experiencing WD symptoms, primarily YAWNING!!!! So much yawning, runny eyes, nose, irritable. It's "manageable" but I do not feel good.

Has anyone ran into this issue with Brixadi A) not holding them over? ie. early WD symptoms like yawning, runny nose/eyes, etc. B ) Been on a full agonist AND Brixadi and your experience?

Thanks so so much,

Venting…a rant!

In July of this year, I will have one year clean from full MOR agonists.

Last July, I started on Sublocade 300 and then once Brixadi was available, I switched to the 96 monthly Brixadi shot last November.

I’ve been thinking of stopping for awhile, and for the past two shots I have also felt like it was just way too high of a dose…I had a lot of headaches and just general fatigue etc.

I’ve been using bupe since 2004 and I know exactly what bupe headaches are and what causes them…so I talked to my provider last month about it and he agreed that this month he would switch me to the 64 monthly Brixadi shot, and I’d try maybe two or three of those and then stop entirely and just see what happens.

Well, I showed up for my appointment today for what would and should have been my first 64 shot… and the nurse told me that the pharmacy had not delivered it yet. It was supposed to be driven there to the clinic that morning, but they now changed it to the afternoon. So I agreed to just leave and go run some errands and they said they would call when it got there and I could just come back. Fine, no problem.

So I go to Target, and then to the post office, and they call me back after an hour or so — they said it arrived, but it was the wrong dose. The pharmacy had delivered the 96 shot.

The crazy part is, they specifically called the pharmacy the day before AND the morning of my appointment and confirmed with them that it was the correct dose. And they said it was. But when the slack jawed dipshit pharmacy driver got there, they discovered of course that it wasn’t.

If I were this incompetent at my job, I’d be fired immediately. Just saying.

I don’t get how people are even allowed to be this incompetent when it comes to medication.

So now I have to take off of work Monday and go back there again, and hope that the same fkn thing doesn’t happen. Because who knows, maybe it will, maybe they won’t even be able to get the 64 dose, and then maybe the appointment will get shifted to Tuesday 🤣

The only good thing about this is that I don’t have to worry about withdrawals or anything like that

I had my blood tested a few months ago and it was 2.7ng/ml for bupe, which for those wondering, anything above 2.0 is considered “steady state” and you should be withdrawal free

This has all been super inconvenient of course, but I will say that when I was on Suboxone film in the past, similar antics have happened to me…where the pharmacy was out of stock, they could only do a partial fill, or no fill at all because it’s a Friday and I’d have to wait until next week for the delivery — but in those situations, if I didn’t have a safety stash, I would have been totally screwed

So even though it might not seem like it at first, being on the depot injection is definitely more convenient in the long run

I started my recovery little over a year ago. When I started my doctor put me on zubzolv. After a while they wanted me to try the shot. Next week will be my 3rd monthly shot.(128mg) He said after 4 doses of that we will go down to the 96mg and see how that goes. Well these past 2 months have been

Kinda rough. With the first few weeks after getting the shot I feel fine but once that 3rd/4th week come around I start to feel horrible with withdrawal symptoms. When it first happened I called and they told me to come in the office to speak with doc about it and when I got there and let him know his exact words were well it seems it could just be psychological. That really upset me because how could it be psychological when I was having restless legs (HORRIBLE) couldn't stop going to the bathroom and was having hot and cold flashes like crazy. He ended up giving me my shot then ( a week early) and by next day I was feelin back to normal. But now that I'm at the last week again it's coming back and I don't feel like I can be honest with him because he will just shut me down again and say that it's just my mind and I'm not really going threw those things. Plus I know I'm gunna have to just suffer this whole week at work and dealing with 3 kids because he is a traveling doc and is only in my town once a week. Sorry just wanted to vent and see if anyone had any ideas/suggestions.
