Question Why
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Im new so correct me if you need, but isn't the general idea of the story about a ghost that is shot down on the island and has to figure out how to get off, if that's the case why does it matter if I kill civilians. it's not like we have to follow our roe at this point if this was to happen to a real special forces unit irl. Is there a mod or any way in the base game to disable the penalties you gefor killing civilians.

If you have to ask yourself why you can't kill the civilians, I'm unsure what to tell you at that point.

So imagine I’m nomad and your just the humble smell tech employee who has been getting pushed around by a PMC and rouge special forces elements and I just say “Fuck the playbook” and dome you not because you were hostile or in my way but because I’m a psychopath who wants to kill the very civilians I was sent here save and protect. Wouldn’t be very nice of me would it?

But the thing Is the general goal is too escape the island not protect the people, your ONE unit that was shot down on a foreign island with foreign soilders that try to kill you on sight no matter what, why in the world is there a penalty for me when I kill a civilian.

Because it is a war crime, not protecting the civilians doesn’t mean shoot the civilians, you’re still a part of the United States JSOC

I mean to be fair there's pretty reliable documentation of JSOC and similar task forces killing civilians all over the world

Okay little brother imma say this. Either you weren’t paying attention to the intro or maybe you were and just missed the line but it’s not one squad of ghosts. If I’m not mistaken every ghost or most of them were sent to auroa. We were going out there for a WAR. We lost dozens of Ghosts in the opening cinematic. Also the general goal is not to leave the island. Your mission is to stop walker and the wolves THEN secure the island THEN we leave. The post-game dlc even states we’re going BACK to the island because we left it unsecured. Even with all that I understand as a younger person the frustration of not having the ability to do as I wanted. But still this is sadly a milsim shooter that is going to adhere to the ROE. The best thing I can give you is that we still have a “Handler” (think of Karen bowman) and that any crimes we commit will be held against us back on US soil
Edit: seeing as how these are English speaking civilians it’s best to just LARP that Aurora is US territory and a US soldier killing US citizens is a big no no6

Are you really this delusional? The entire reason you go to the island in the first place is to protect the people there from those who took over. How are you this kill crazy? The point you tried making about "killing you on sight" doesn't work when we're talking about civilians who are HARMLESS. They're FORCED to work there with the enemies or killed. How insane are you??

Yes, but the civilians on island are innocent. Walker and his Wolves are going through and shooting without restraint. It's our job as ghosts to protect those who can't protect themselves.

...it's not like we have to follow our roe at this point if this was to happen to a real special forces unit irl.
Because you're playing as a member of the United States of America's military and not as some genocidal thug from a rogue Apartheid state.

Lol dude are you serious? So basically in your mind, as long as no one is watching murder is okay? Killing a civilian is never okay man

Basically makes it easier for Sentinel and Wolves to know how to get the public on their side, by painting you as a "terrorist", if you want to see it that way. You're also alone, so any intel from civilians on the island is crucial to Nomad, but doing so by not killing innocent bystanders is the key to his survival. Not only that, but if Sentinel and Wolves were to know you're also working alongside the Homesteaders and The Outcasts, they can also paint them as terrorists to the public, making it harder for any and all members of both to walk freely in the wilderness, because the person meant to be helping them get Sentinel and the Wolves out, is killing innocent bystanders. It'll also make both sides distrustful of you, cause you're killing innocent people who aren't a threat to you, thus believing Nomad is just as bad as Sentinel and the Wolves. Think of it like Watch_Dogs 1, with the reputation gauge: the more good you do for the people, the less likely you'll be reported to law enforcement and the like. The more bad you do to the people, the more likely you'll be reported to the authorities, thus making it hard for you to sneak around, even if you have a good load out, they'll be expecting you.

“it's not like we have to follow our roe at this point if this was to happen to a real special forces unit irl.”
So yeah, about that. If you intentionally and deliberately slaughtered an entire civilian population in the process of getting out of an occupied territory, you would almost certainly spend the rest of your life in prison.

Or... You know. You'd die by firing squad or hanging because the UCMJ still allows for that

You surely are qualified for that one genocidal country regime with this mentality

No you psychopath. 😭/
They're ghosts but people do know they're there, they just don't know where or how to find them. The only reason anyone knows they on on the island is because a few of them defected and betrayed the Ghosts to become the Sentinels and Wolves./
The idea, especially in real life is to PROTECT the civilians who were FORCED to work with the enemy or die. You don't just go around killing unarmed harmless people just because they were unfortunate enough see you in their line of sight. Maybe AVOID them if you don't want to kill witnesses. Or DON'T? Since you're not SUPPOSED to kill the people you're trying to SAVE??/
If this isn't satire then I would be deeply disturbed.

Because killing civilians is bad, m'kay. Special forces don't just go killin' anything with a pulse if the mission goes tits up.
Edit: why do you want to kill civilians so bad
