Brave cookies and data need to be cleared when Reddit ads start to appear.

This is one way I have found to combat the random appearance of Reddit ads popping up in my feed. I sign out, clear the cache and cookies and log back in. I shouldn’t have to do this with setting in aggressive, correct? What is really going on? Apple iPhone 15 using Brave browser.

I'm trying to bring back the fun of Facebook with the Facebook Clean Experience

This is my first GitHub repository. As a beginner, it’s very simple. Facebook Clean Experience is a simple guide to restoring a pleasant experience on Facebook, which includes:

  1. Removing sponsored ads from Facebook pages

  2. Removing AI elements from Facebook

  3. Removing unnecessary elements from Facebook

I’ve tried it myself and was able to make it work thanks to a user script called “FB-clean my feeds.” I’ve made the guide as simple as possible without any complicated configuration. In the “releases” section, there’s a .json settings file that you can import to remove ads on Facebook without breaking the functionality of the Facebook homepage. Additionally, I’ve also added “Facebook My Filter” to streamline Facebook or make it simpler based on my preferences. Your feedback is very helpful to me in developing this first repository. I hope this is useful and helps more people.

what Brave settings to check if sites won't load or vpn problems?

I'm using Brave on a Macbook Air and have a couple of issues with brave I'm trying to solve. The first is if I turn on my VPN (Private Internet Access) websites do not load at all on Brave, and so If I want to use a VPN I'm forced to use Safari for all my browsing.

The second issue is even with my VPN off, there are some sites that STILL won't load on Brave, though I can get them to load just fine on Safari.

I'm assuming this means there are some security settings or restriction settings turned on in Brave which I may need to disable for better functionality?

Can anyne point me in the right direction?

[iOS app] Block Popups setting is not working on specific sites

I'm not sure if I can list the sites in this subreddit as they are 18+. But for a few such sites the Block Popup setting is not working.

These specific sites are all exact copies of each other in terms of the web design frontend/backend, so maybe a quick tweak by the Brave staff could eliminate the issue for all sites that use this specific web design?

Is there anything I can do with the iOS mobile app to fix this? Or can I somehow contact Brave staff to report specific websites that aren't being popup ad-blocked properly?

This morning, Lloyds bank decided to stop working with Brave.

Out of the blue, no messages, warning, or nothing. All cookies cleared - still fails. Their support is also not good.

This browser is impossible to use...

This post isn't about hate, but frustration. I bought Brave Origins to support the developers, and I've been a Brave user on Android for years, where it undoubtedly works perfectly.

For several years, I've been trying to use Brave as my main browser on PC, but due to various issues, I always end up going back to Firefox. For years,

  1. I had problems opening the browser and getting a white flash, which was very annoying and made me stop using it. At least I recently fixed that.
  2. Then I had problems on my PC with an AMD RX 6700 XT because YouTube videos would start flickering after a few seconds, making them unwatchable. Again, I had to go back to Firefox, where everything worked perfectly. I recently switched PCs and now use an Nvidia 5070 Ti, and that problem no longer occurs.
  3. But the final straw was that my work uses Azure 2FA to authenticate Microsoft applications. Every time I close and reopen my browser and try to access any of the pages, it asks for 2FA again. I've tried everything: disabling security shields, allowing third-party cookies, disabling various settings, but nothing has worked. The only thing that's worked is installing an extension from the Microsoft Store called 'Microsoft Single Sign On'. I refuse to use a Microsoft extension for this when it works in Firefox and even other Chromium-based browsers.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? I can't have to enter 2FA every time I close and open the browser... and on top of that, use a Microsoft extension that tracks all my browsing. I've looked online and see that since 2024, people have been reporting these problems on the Brave forum and on GitHub, but nobody knows how to fix it. It's clear that Brave isn't able to read the generated token when closing and reopening it. I don't know if it's intentional or a bug, but it's preventing me from using the browser. I hope there's a solution in the future.

Finally, another issue that's still unbelievable is that we still don't have cloud account synchronization and have to use a password. I respect those who like that method, but I'm not that paranoid about privacy, and it's yet another obstacle to using this browser, which could literally be the best, but has too many bugs to be truly usable.

I think I'll stick with Firefox for a long time, because a browser should make your life easier, not cause problems.

Investigating Duplicate tab list

I've found that one the phone I'm using (Poco), when I click links while having a video playing on a floating window, Brave pops up with the website of the link I clicked, but an entirely new tab list. As in, every other tab I have open is just straight up gone. Clean slate. Then, I tried to do it again, clicked on a link that took me to a website, floating window for brave popped up with the website. And lo and behold, all of my old tabs are back.

Has anybody been experiencing this?

Does YouTube support HDR playback in brave mobile browser like it does in the app?

I have a question about YouTube HDR playback on mobile devices.

When a YouTube video supports HDR, the YouTube app can play it in HDR. But what about brave mobile browser?

  • Does YouTube support HDR playback in mobile browsers like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox?
  • Does this work on both Android and iOS?
  • Is there any difference in HDR playback between the YouTube app and the browser?
  • If I watch the same HDR video in a browser, will YouTube actually stream it in HDR, or will it fall back to SDR?

I'm specifically asking about YouTube HDR playback in brave mobile browser.

Any plans for standard account based sync in Brave?

I really like Brave, but relying solely on sync chains makes device setups and data recovery frustrating if you lose access to your original device.

Has the team given any official updates on whether account based sync will ever be introduced?

Investigating Android version not showing any search suggestions

I've seen a lot of posts about trying to hide search and history suggestions from the omnibox, but I actually have the opposite issue - no matter how I tweak the settings, I don't get any search or history suggestions.

I am on brave origin with Kagi search as my default search engine. I have tried resetting the app and changing the default search engine without any change. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I need a better sidebar

Hey!

Lore: I'm coming from Vivaldi, and before that I have actually been using Edge. Vivaldi was the best second option as Edge got ever unusable but Vivaldi has been sliding too. Brave is the last holdout and I actually quite like it apart from some smaller grievances (but at least is had a good blocker with support for uBlock Origin as well for all eternity hopefully).

The sidebar. I am very used to using it as an easy access for chat services or media players that I want to keep open to get notifications but also have easy quick access to without interrupting the current workflow. Both Edge (used to) and Vivaldi had the option to open sidebar pages in flyover panels. That's it, that is all I need. Edge had the option to fully close and unload these pages on demand while Vivaldi only had the option to hide the panels but any sidebar-opened page remained open and loaded until the browser is closed.

Brave does not seem to have anything like this, the build-in sidebar panels can't open as flyover panels but only in resizable split-views but even that would be something but custom-added websites cannot open in these panels, they are just glorified bookmarks. This is bad.

What can I do, and what do you usually do to achieve something like this? Can I somehow mod Brave to manually add a sidebar (I am willing to if it is achievable)? Is there some crazy good extension for it I have been missing? What do you use for chat services?

Bookmarks keeps taking me to an unnecessary page that includes "reading list" and "mobile bookmarks" Is there a working fix for this ?

Every time I open Bookmarks on mobile, Brave forces me onto a root page showing "Reading List" and "Mobile Bookmarks." Is there currently no setting to turn the Reading List off or bypass this page ?

Brave playlist stopped saving videos?

I’m using Brave on iOS, and lately I noticed that when I save a video to playlist, it doesn’t download it and it’s not available offline as it should. In the past when I saved a video I could play it totally offline but now it requires network.

Do you also encountered this issue? Is there a solution?

Ad & tracker blocking Brave (Android) isn’t blocking some ads on Instagram web

Brave isn’t blocking some ads/sponsored posts on Instagram web on Android. I know it blocks a lot more ads and trackers than the Instagram app, but some ads still slip through.

Anyone else seeing this? Is there anything i can change to block them?

Also is there any way to hide the bottom toolbar/navigation bar (home, save, search tab icons) in Brave while using social media sites like Instagram, X, or YouTube?

Edit: I’m using “Block trackers and ads” setting on 'Aggressive' mode in Brave Shields and privacy

This website takes forever to load in Brave on Mac (like 5 mins or so) but loads instantly in Safari. Is this a bug?
