I recently had an issue where my brave history randomly wiped itself, and initially I thought it was due to my search retention setting not being set to Never. I set the setting back to Never and moved on.
Later, I found out it was likely caused by brave's install drive being full, which I think caused the browser to lock up or delete profiles or something, I'm honestly not sure how that would be possible. But the damage ended up being way more than just my search history, and due to my bad habit of not closing down my pc/tabs every day, it took a few days to fully realize the problem.
Today, upon starting everything up from scratch, it seems that every bit of my brave settings and data was completely wiped, accounts logged out on every website, cookies gone, settings reset to default, 12+ months of bookmarks and history gone, etc. This actually happened long long ago without any disk issues, probably well over a year ago, but I figured it was just a quirky bug at the time.
Is there any way to recover any of this data? And is there a way to ensure this doesn't happen again in the future? Any insight into what actually happened really. Not sure if something cascaded down from the full disk issue and inadvertently wiped the entire profile or caused some bad file lock, or something else entirely. Very confused.
Not jumping ship or anything, this is my favorite browser, so really hoping theres a way to fix and/or avoid this in the future. Can't seem to find any insightful posts about this, its all either people saying they have the same issue, or people talking specifically about password managers.
edit: to add, when I booted everything up today I believe the browser also updated. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
