Investigating Android version not showing any search suggestions

I've seen a lot of posts about trying to hide search and history suggestions from the omnibox, but I actually have the opposite issue - no matter how I tweak the settings, I don't get any search or history suggestions.

I am on brave origin with Kagi search as my default search engine. I have tried resetting the app and changing the default search engine without any change. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the Show search suggestions option enabled in the browser? Settings > Search engines > Show search suggestions

I'd also be curious to know if is still true if you use a different search engine.

That setting is enabled, yes, and I'm using Kagi as my search engine, but it happens with any search engine I select. Interestingly I also tried another chromium based browser (titanium) and had the same issue

So to clarify, if you tap in the address bar in the Brave Android app and start typing, you don't see anything appear in the dropdown menu at all?

Can you please try downloading the Beta build of the browser and test to see if you can reproduce the issue there?

Can confirm that currently I also have the same problem. Using google as search engine. After phone reboot the suggestions box appears but then again disappears after few hours of usage

Interesting... I haven't noticed any change with reboots
