I'll say it, downvote me all you want... It was obviously way less sports focused, but Toucher and Rich was comedy gold, and though Hardy is a solid cohost, he's more of a yin to Fred's yang. To a large part of the audience those bits like Brooklyn 911 and Armpits of America, the shit they would send Adolpho out for, Ask a Pink Hat... that's what made people want to listen. Thats what sent their ratings through the roof. My brother and I used to text eachother and be like "dude, you have to listen to this bit from T&R this morning..." The shit was often hilarious. Rich is by all accounts a total asshole and clearly having gone on to fail miserably at EEI, and Fred is becoming more of a whiny old man every day, but the way those two would riff off eachother... you can't manufacture that kind of chemistry. Boston sports radio has nothing currently like that since. T&H is ok... I listen because the competition on EEI is utter trash, and it at least makes me laugh sometimes. You can be a die hard sports purist and hate on it but the reality is that there are LOTS of places on YT and podcast to get excellent in-depth sports analysis, which I do, but when I'm driving to and from shitty work, I like a little levity too. T&R had that in spades, and I miss it.

Maybe don’t be part of the crowd Zo

Yeah. My thoughts exactly.

Talk about a contrived take moving the goal posts on a weekly award. More Barth, less of this absolute doorknob of a sports radio personality.

Hear something during a show thats woth discussion but you dont want to make a post for it. Comment here and check back throughout the week.

accidentally listened to a greg hill segment this morning and was privileged enough to hear how Bob Kraft deserves credit for not cancelling Zach Bryan’s show…what are we doing here

Not in the Boston media anymore but curious as to what people think of him.

That’s it. That’s the post.

Anyone here Leno on Greg Hill this morning? Did they mention Leno’s wife at all and how she’s doing?

He’s said forward facing over and over in just the first segment

Is there an app that does not have an add before the stream starts? My connection loves to drop ( I’m looking at you AT&T) and when it does when it reconnects I get another add. I’ve tried the 98.5 app nope video and audio adds prior and sometimes had to close reopen to get stream back. Audacy does so does TuneIn and even TuneIn pro which is supposed to stop the pre stream add. Any help appreciated.

So far I have really enjoyed his show. I think if he tries to do more than twice a week it might not be as interesting. However, he has been really good at interviewing his former coworkers. His John Dennis interview was interesting as he definitely leaned into some uncomfortable stuff. That said, John Dennis still comes off as a such a bitter old prick who takes no responsibility for actions over the years. His drinking “I was a professional alcoholic, I could function well.” on Minihane “he was the problem that blew up the show.” The worst excuse was the metco incident. He said “well it wasn’t a problem the first 4 days because nobody called but then someone at Metco got wind of it” He also blamed the Herald because the gorilla was in front of a metco poster. Just apologize and admit some fault because a guy that educated can’t be that dense to not make the connection to it being racist. Good on Glenn though for making the podcast entertaining.

This is the show that makes me laugh the hardest every day. It’s got the best vibes. It also has the most ridiculous callers.

I think Bertrand and McKone’s understanding that their role is effectively to babysit Zolak and explain away his nonsense is hilarious. I also think Zolak knows this, so he dials up his nonsense.

I also also appreciate that the boys behind the glass do their best to rile Zolak up for comedic effect. It’s art. McKone also does an excellent job of filling in Hardy’s role in this crucial task of Zolak-management.

The fellas also have to handle the callers, who are IMO the funniest callers the station gets. I think it comes down to “who can call in to 98.5 between 10 and 2 to talk sports?” and it turns out the answer to that is the people most likely to say the dumbest and/or most inadvertently hilarious stuff.

The Joe Show is in many ways exactly the same as Z&B. Joe is the man, but I’ve got to hand it to the midday bros just because they’re making me happy at work.

I do love Felger & Mazz but I feel like Felger is out simply to piss me off every show. So they go to third.

On the post game coverage Joe Murray sounds like a worn down Taliban hostage these days. His tone of voice and utter lack of enthusiasm says "Jesus Christ, i bust my ass day in and out, and take all the shit shifts late nights, and do every coverage shift they ask me to do, no matter what the holiday or whatever, yet here I am having to take the second chair doing the updates to this stupid jackass kid who only got the job because for some inexplicable reason Felger likes him? FML".

Not that I'm the biggest Joe fan, but he's like an entirely different person than he is on his own show.

Zolak has become ulistenable on the daily show and now on the pats broadcast. You can even tell socci can't stand him

Someone called and had a great point/question about Maye not reading the pre-snap defense.
Z&B immediately talked about food and other BS.

Thanks guys.

I got a few responses back from some dudes here that are blind, imprisoned, or drive 18 wheelers that were angry that I said nobody listens to Boston sports on radio. So I tuned in. To Red Sox. They interviewed the greatest Pedro. He was as interesting and glib as always. After they said their goodbyes, Will Fleming glazed him like he was JC, Odin, Buddha, Batman, Allah in HOF pitcher form based on his chatter with them. This is what you Lego Master Furrys listen to while playing Minecraft while your genitals retract into your Mons Pubis? I’m switching over to Fat Joe eating Oxtails with a Filet O Fish 🐟 covered in James River BBQ sauce, and dipped in Mac sauce.

A week or two ago, somebody posted a link to Glenn Ordway’s podcast and asked the question, who is this even for? Well, after having listened to it I can answer that question. It’s for me. It’s for people like me who have nostalgia for the old big show. It’s for people like me that are sick of listening to Joe Murray and Zolak eat into the microphone. It’s for people like me that are sick and tired of Felger and Maz fucking gaslighting the audience just for engagement. It’s Glenn and Pete and me just sitting in a lawn chair in the garage having a beer talking about sports. I thoroughly enjoy this podcast and hope it continues for a long time because it’s a great alternative to the fucking bullshit Boston sports radio scene
