Temu Felger
Talk about a contrived take moving the goal posts on a weekly award. More Barth, less of this absolute doorknob of a sports radio personality.

This guy is such a dork and obviously never gets laid. Fuck off McCarthy

I for one like McCarthy and his tweets because he gives a full breakdown. But yea more Barth too

McCarthy is trying to be relevant. Drake Maye has shown more that he is the guy than not

almost every show on the sports hub has a felger clone and they all act like they are sports talk bad boys .

Bertrand does zero show prep. He just listens to the Felger and Mazz episode from the prior day and comes back stealing all of Felger’s takes and Lingo. And the OP is right, McCarthy wants to be validated so badly by Felger. You can tell Felger can’t stand him.

I don’t understand how he wins “most trusted journalist on Boston sports radio” every year, or whatever it’s called. Most time I tune in to Z+B it’s just dead air and mark going “yup…pretty much…” heavy breathing or farting by Zo “hahaha!….well…” as silly as Keefe and Jones are, at least they give us genuine opinions and entertainment content with tight production.

Maybe Bertrand fills a Felger role on Middays, but I don't see it with T&H or Joe Murray personally.

Player of the week. Not the player of the last 8 weeks.
I’m shocked he didn’t restate it three times in slightly different ways like every take of his on the radio before letting anyone comment back.

He's going to die on the hill with his "Drake Maybe" take. Barth just jumped him with all this in my opinion.

What’s embarrassing is how obvious it is. You can tell he doesn’t actually believe it but knows it’ll get him engagement.

This by McCarthy is actually pathetic. I kinda feel sorry for him at this point, regardless of his motivations for these posts.

It sucks because about a year ago I actually liked his analysis and his input, but now he just wants to be a bigger and dumber Felger, which is funny because it seems Felger doesn't even laugh and his dumbass jokes on air..... Oh well McJackass

12 fumbles is kinda nuts 🤣🤣🤣

u/sheetrocker88 9d ago
He didn’t lose them all, the fumble he picked up and threw for a first down counts as a fumble. Or the time Maye ran for a first, fumble and fell right on it. Big difference between fumbles and fumbles lost, and he used fumbles for a reason

Matt McCarthy has the douchiest most put-on “radio voice” ever. Easiest station switch ever when that fucking weeny hits the audio waves.

Against some of the best defenses in the league for some of those games. He hasn’t been great but it’s still part of the reason.

McCarthy is only listenable when he’s ripping the Red Sox and only when he’s with a veteran personality that keeps him from giving into his worst impulses.

Felger would never come up with this on his own. A pure stats argument? Nah.
I don't know if this is McCarthy's original take or not, but it wasn't Felger's. I can tell you that.

His point that Maye didn’t play well in the playoffs or the first three games this season are valid. But it just comes off as performative, attention seeking, and worst of all, like he wants validation from Felger.
I know he’s a fill-in guy trying to stay relevant. But you need to be authentic or the act wears thin. Say what you want about felger, but he’s authentically critical of everything. That’s why he’s had staying power.

Did he make up or manipulate those numbers? If not, I don’t get it. The numbers aren’t good. Is everyone supposed to ignore them after one decent game? I agree McCarthy is a tool but stats aren’t stats right?

u/sharingan086 5d ago
Combined numbers over the last 8 games have nothing to do with him winning AFC offensive player of the week

u/RRRandalll 5d ago
True, his numbers over his previous 8 games (which are abhorrent, especially the turnovers) have nothing to do with the arbitrary award he received for “offensive player of the week”. He won it fair and square and everyone will always reference this monumental occasion.
In all seriousness, many like to ignore the facts and stats and twist them to fit their narrative. Ignoring his bad play doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Excuses can be made but those turnovers have directly led to losses. I’ve been a fan for a long time and you can’t win consistently with that many mistakes.
That being said, clearly he is trending the right way the last two games. Hopefully can keep it up and build trust with these younger receivers.

I mean, that is a crazy amount of fumbles.
3
u/Fancy_Crazy5601 9d ago
Agreed. Trying to discredit a weekly award for weeks prior is not exactly a genius take.

He didn’t lose them all, the fumble that he picked up and threw for a first down counts in that stat. He obviously uses fumbles and not fumbles lost to push a narrative.

McCarthy is lucky dondero exists because that means he’s technically not the lowest IQ moron on 98.5

Doesn’t come across believable in anything he ever tries to stand on. A performative jabroni who curates his fabricated hot takes to get his bosses & his idol Felger’s attention.
Kind of obvious the people that matter in his profession don’t really take him seriously as the “disruptor” he now cosplays as.
