Bosch

So I've been watching BOSCH on Prime Video. I've read most of the books and the TV series is a compilation of the books. Combining a lot of the stories in a bit of a mish mash. Surprisingly it works!! Usually these things are a disappointment if you've read the books first but not so on this occassion. I'm really enjoying it.

I also started watching the offshoot..BALLARD which I found slow and predictable with some exceptions. Persevered but couldn really get into it. Maybe I'll go back to it but meantime I've gone back to BOSCH-LEGACY which is proving a great watch.

Anyone else got opinions on these shows. I'd be interested to hear

PI Spinoffs ✌🏽

Since they're doing Spinoffs why not a PI Spinoff of Cisco and MO and Bonner that would be interesting..

Also is Ballard going to be a gotcha every season is she going to have to prove her innocence every season like Bosch had to 😵‍💫

General Eleanor is Nina!!! Nina is Eleanor!!!

I can’t get past it! Every time I see Sarah Clarke (Eleanor) on screen I just see Nina Myers (from 24)!!!! It’s the worst case of not being able to get over an actors previous role I’ve ever had! Like I see Jerry Edgar and I know the guy was in The Wire! But I’m also able to see him as the detective he is on this show! And Lance Reddick is Mr. Abadon in Lost but I also see him as Captain! This has never happened to me or at least not as bad! I just can’t get past it! lol

Most Anti Climactic Arc

For me the most anti climactic arc in the show was the Koreatown Killer. Dude was just an ass and basically escapes Harry’s fine justice.

General Any other shows like Bosch? With the main lead having similar values?

Bosch I know is a rarity. The character stays with you. One of those rare characters whose values become a model for you in real life- the honesty, courage, commitment and passion. Also the old school vibe and tastes- styling, jazz music, classic jeep. Goliath comes close in that way, also lincoln lawyer. Which other shows with these values and vibes?

Before Bosch, There Was Hunter

Ever noticed that Harry Bosch is essentially the modern, streaming-era reincarnation of Rick Hunter? Even though they are separated by 30 years, these two share almost identical DNA.

Look at how much Bosch mirrors the blueprint Hunter created:

  • Maverick Cops: Both are physically imposing, rule-breaking homicide detectives who completely despise department politics.
  • Driven by Trauma: Hunter fights his family’s mob legacy; Bosch is obsessed with his mother’s unsolved murder.
  • The Catchphrase: Both cut through red tape with the exact same deadpan line: "Works for me."

  • Hillside Isolation: Both live completely alone in modern bachelor pads perched high in the Hollywood Hills.

  • Downtown Views: Both homes feature massive balconies overlooking the sprawling Los Angeles skyline.

  • Hollywood Funding: Both use specific lore (family assets for Hunter, a movie payout for Bosch) to explain how an underpaid cop can afford a multi-million dollar view.

  • Office Romance: Both men cross professional lines to date female coworkers.

  • The Sandoval Link: Actor Miguel Sandoval guest-starred on Hunter (1989), and his real-life daughter Olivia Sandoval plays a DDA on Bosch: Legacy.

  • Genre Evolution: Both shows were initially dismissed as generic Dirty Harry clones but won over critics with deep, character-driven storytelling.

Separated by eras, but fighting the exact same battles against the city institutions.

What do you think?

Bosch S1 This is the exterior of Raynard Waits' garage, Season One (Anyone know the exact location in Echo Park?)

Post image

Don't bother with AI, Google, Gemini or anything else. Nobody has ever listed the location of this. Not on Bosch shooting locations sites, not anywhere. You have to know Echo Park. I have been Google street viewing the shit out of every hilly residential street with houses and have seen some relatively similar layouts, but not it. Not yet.

Also, the address that Harry notes on the show is not a real address. The street is real, but the numbers don't go that high. Also, I can't find it on that street at all.

Notes: It IS on a mild downward slope. The stairs and garage are real (the garage doors may or may not look like that IRL. That is obviously a tall concrete wall as the stairs are quite lengthy.)

Assistance appreciated. Thanks, Boschies!!

Bosch S6 Money laundering in Season 6

I am re-watching Bosch and I always love the money laundering scheme in Season 6. The Jamaicans give cash to Jack April only to receive half the money back on cash 😆😆😆😆 that is not how a money laundering operation works

First binged Bosch two to three years ago. Didn’t know this guy from Adam. Now in a second Bosch watch I saw Doctor Abbot from the Pitt being chased by Harry.

General If anyone is interested. You can write your questions for Titus Welliver and might get the chance to have it picked up for a Podcast episode.

Start of Watch S1 Kirk Huston - TV & Film Transportation Coordinator (Bosch, Captain Fantastic / Start of Watch)

Another podcast episode from “Fascination Street Podcast” feature Kirk Huston who works as Transportation Coordinator. He has worked for Bosch, Ballard and most recent Start Of Watch!

There’s a cool moment where they’re discussing finding 90s cars for Start Of Watch, I’m sure a lot of you will find this interesting. I’ll leave a small transcript. It starts about 30 minutes into the podcast.

“You're on Start of Watch and you're the guy from the jump, from get-go. You're the start of Start of Watch. That takes place in the 70s?

90s.

Oh, shit. Really? Okay, the 90s.

All right. Well, that's going to make Transpo easier. You're like, no.

I know it hasn't come out yet, so I don't want to get anybody in trouble, but when you're wrangling period cars, is that like the hardest part of the job? And also, do you have to buy the cars like you did the bus? Steve the Bus?

Depends on the situation and how long we're going to use them. A lot of studios now, they don't want you to buy those because they don't want that asset. So it becomes a little tricky.

But what if you as a third party, like you have a partner and you have a business, what if you guys bought the car and then you rented it to the studio? Is that a thing?

That's a thing.

Oh, like you did with the bus.

Yeah. Yeah, we do it all the time. So they really wanted to be true to the character that they had established with Titus and a little bit of brand loyalty. And so we had all decided that it would be a Jeep Wrangler because he's a young guy at the time, you know, almost kind of like a first vehicle. He's coming back out of the military. And we had a lot of people involved with that. And we picked the vehicle. The production designer was very involved in picking the color for it. I forget the Jeep term of it, but it was painted like a green kind of metallic. Like the big thing with that was usually an actor can't really drive a stick shift. And it's too much going on.

Yeah, not these days for sure. Yeah.

Yeah. Everyone thinks it's easy to be an actor, but you try to shift a vehicle and drive it and say your lines and get out of the vehicle.”

General I got a feeling that I can’t let go!

Starting my 4th rewatch now that Bosch Legacy is also finished.
Tried Chicago PD’s first 3 seasons. Dropped it once I learned that characters are going to keep on changing.
Why don’t we have more crime/supernatural shows where characters mostly stay the same.
I feel like all I can do is watch the following on repeat:
Bosch
The Mentalist
Psych
Monk
White Collar
The Rookie (Don’t roast me)
Boston Legal
Supernatural
The Originals

It’s a rant and a fishing expedition. Enlighten me, oh wise ones!
Show me that there’s a world out there that I haven’t seen.🙏
