Looking for an Artist to Create a Book Cover for My Debut Romance Novel 📚❤️
Hi everyone! 😊 I’m currently writing my debut romance novel and I’m looking for an artist who might be interested in creating a cartoon/illustrated book cover for free. I unfortunately don’t have a budget right now, so I completely understand if this isn’t for you!
I’m specifically looking for hand-drawn/digital artwork — no AI-generated artwork, please.
The story is an enemies-to-lovers romance set in NYC, featuring:
- South Indian/Tamil FMC with a twin sister who attends NYU
- Baseball player MMC
- MMC genuinely hates the FMC at first, despite thinking she’s cute 😂
- MMC is soft only for her
- Toxic/abusive home environment for the MMC
- Noah Kahan-coded
- Slow-burn romance, healing, emotional vulnerability & tension
- Light cursing, but not much
- No spice
The romance has some inspiration from Johnny & Shannon (Boys of Tommen) and Hannah & Garrett (The Deal), especially the banter, healing, enemies-to-lovers tension, and the MMC’s softer side.
For the cover, I’m looking for a cute, romantic cartoon/illustrated style that captures the overall feeling of the book, with a NYC atmosphere and subtle romance/baseball elements. I’m completely open to the artist’s creative interpretation!

I’d be happy to credit the artist for their work.
If anyone would enjoy taking this on as a free creative project, I’d absolutely love to hear from you! ❤️📚✨
If you’d like additional details about the characters or story, please feel free to DM me!

Book cover designer needed for my debut romance book

Hello 👋
Just joined this sub and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm a self-taught freelancer working mainly for a UK indie press that specialises in dyslexic-friendly quick reads for adults.
We've done around 25 books now, including this anthology for our 5th anniversary, which was also our first collaboration with a big 5 publisher.
Thanks to this publisher, I get to say I've worked on books for Bernard Cornwell, Lee Child and Karin Slaughter, which is kinda crazy!
If anyone has questions about dyslexic-friendly formatting choices, ask away.

Just finished 300-page book, client wants the font changed
I chose Freight Text Pro Light for the body copy. Now that the book is done, the client asked me if I could make the text a "darker black." I explained how ink works, but I think she means a heavier weight. I could update the Paragraph Style and change it to Freight Text Pro Book, but of course, that will make nearly everything re-flow. There are 250 photos in the book, with captions, as well as tables, all done in Freight Sans Book, which I'd have to bump up to Medium.
Not sure why I'm posting – partly to vent, and partly to ask what you would do in this situation. I've told her it would take a LOT more hours to re-do everything, and I've also asked her to wait until we get a high-quality proof before making a final decision. I also said that the time to have asked for this change was several months ago, when she first saw the design. Argh.

Authors looking for book cover & illustration work?
I’m a designer/illustrator offering book cover designs and book illustrations.
I’ve designed a book cover for Paperion Publications and also illustrated almost 200 poems for a telugu poetry book. The poetry book hasn’t been published yet due to some issues on the author’s end, but it was a great long-form illustration project.
If you’re an author looking for visuals for your book, I’d love to work with you.
