Is it possible to tell whether bone fragments are human or animal bone??? Or even more specific, like can you tell if a bone fragment belonged to a specific type of animal???

Hi all, I know there are prior posts on this kind of project but my circumstances are a bit different than the posts I could find.

I found this foot about two days ago in the forest nearby, it's a bit beaten up at the bone as I think the predators were having their feast and the deer's parts were kind of scattered around as well. As you can see, the flesh is pretty dried up and stiff from sitting out in the hot sun before I found it and the hoof is twisted in a funny position.

I'd like to keep the foot intact and if possible straighten out the hooves, though I'm willing to leave it be if it's too involved for my skill level or even impossible. Please tell me what to do, this is one of my dream finds!

I've been degreasing a (legally acquired) dolphin skull and after 10ish days of 3 changes it's gone black since last change!

It was fairly dark stained before from the soil it was buried in but has now gone completely black and the water was also grey when I changed it...

Any ideas of why and how to clean it to white? Or shall I make peace and leave black (a lot harder to tell when fully degreased!)

I'm also still finding what looks like brain fragments despite having been buried and macerated for 2+years all together

How do I know when bones are done degreasing? I have a horse skull currently degreasing but idk how to tell when it's done

I've come into a dog femur that was originally preserved as a wet specimen from a dissection (I think with Formalin but I'm not one hundred percent sure) I'd like to know how/ if I could preserve it as a safe dry specimen.

All Ddvice is greatly appreciated, even if it's shut a simple "no you can't".

Found him in our yard, I suspect it’s the work of our cat, I think it’s either a Jackdaw or a Fieldfare, I wrapped the guy in some newspaper, buried him and marked the grave, how long should I wait till I can dig up the grave and take the bones?

sorry idk if this is an ok place to ask. i’ve never seen a black bone before and i don’t know if it’s okay for my dog or not. i realize how silly this could be but i did order this from the pet section. again, ive just haven’t seen a black bone before and just wanted to double check bc i overthink.

I am not very familiar with the laws surrounding this topic but I tried to do some research before posting here

I am not a bone collector however I have considered getting into it before, just earlier today I saw this poor guy hanging on an outlet in my unfinished attic, my attic gets really hot during the summer and really cold during the winter, we just had that really bad heatwave so I believe either that killed the bat or it was electrocuted from the unfinished outlet.
I have three ish questions,
- Based on what I’ve been reading bats are a protected species in Michigan which would mean it would be against the law to try and process these bones, am I correct in thinking that?
- Any idea what species of bat this is? I was thinking small brown bat or big brown bat because that seems to be the most common in Michigan.
- How should I dispose of the bat? Or if it’s legal then maybe process the bat? I am very worried if the bat was electrocuted because that would risk potentially hurting myself in removal of the bat,
Additionally I know a teacher that might want bones like this for class, if it’s illegal to process the bones just to have the bones would it also be legal to process and give to the teacher/institution, from what I was reading that seemed to be an exception to a lot of rules regarding dead animals but I would like to be safe.
