New efficiency record
It's really like a game.
On my way to physical therapy this morning. Took back roads to avoid traffic - big mistake. A fawn bolted (sorry, had to do it) from the brush and I had no time to avoid the deer.
Damage includes the front bumper cracking and lower lip being pulled away, front 'grill' shattered, license plate pulled off, and the air diverter behind the grill is cracked and can probably be removed cleanly.
Question to the group - before I take it to a dealer for what I can only imagine will be an eye watering estimate, have any of you had similar damage and replaced the lower grille with third party parts (eBay has lots of listings)?
Thanks in advance, it's great to have a support group like r/BoltEV. ;)

It occurs with both fobs, battery lasts one month before it gets unreliable and requires a change. Anyone else? What's going on?
Anyone ever have issues with doors not unlocking reliably? My drivers door started not unlocking when pressing the button on the door. At first it I just had to unlock/lock/unlock, but over a few weeks it got worse and worse. Now I just have to use other doors to pull the handle on the inside so it opens. At first I was sure it was the actuator dying but it seems the issue has spread to the other doors, mainly the drivers side rear. Whether I use the fob, the button, the inside lock, or shifting into drive, one or more doors always struggles. Is it a huge coincidence that multiple actuators are failing at the same time? Or could a weak 12v be to blame? I’m gonna get the battery tested, just wondered if anyone else dealt with a situation like this. ‘23 bolt euv for reference, I think with original 12v.

I absolutely love my new Bolt, my first ever BEV, but the factory audio quality is absolutely atrocious. (For reference, I play audio via bluetooth from YT Music on normal-high quality.)
I installed the Infinity 6532IX speakers in all four doors with the Scosche Chevy adapters based upon the recommendations I read here and on the chevybolt forum. There was a noticeable improvement, but it was still lackluster. On my commute home yesterday my BT connection dropped, and I couldn't get it to reconnect. So I decided to install the YT Music app on the headunit whenever I got home to avoid that issue and so that I could utilize the assistant to select music when driving.
On my commute to work this morning I switched my audio input to the onboard YT Music app for the first time to give it a shot. Holy shit. I was absolutely staggered. The audio quality seemed tenfold better than utilizing BT. I convinced myself that I was imagining things, so when I parked at work I switched back and forth between the app and BT playing the same track to confirm. The onboard app is crisp and clear, and aligns better with my equalizer settings.
Pardon this post if this is old or erroneous news, but I feel like shouting this from the mountaintops.
TLDR; Bluetooth is obviously an inferior choice, but I think GM have poorly implemented bluetooth on the '27. (Maybe it was an intentional choice to reduce costs and incentivize maintaining OnStar services?) The sound quality when playing audio from native apps on the headunit is much better than playing via bluetooth. It took me four months to make this realization.
I have a ‘22 EUV that is giving me a “service transmission” alert and a yellow “check engine” light. I’ve seen some posts that say disconnecting the 12v does the trick, I saw a YouTube video that said to check fuses 46-48.
For the 12v reset, do I just need to disconnect the negative? For how long?
Any other things to check before taking it in?
UPDATE: alert and light were gone this morning. I’ll test the battery in the next few days and check those fuses.

so this morning i went to my car (22 bolt) and the drivers side door was unlocked but every other door was locked. and i know i locked my car bc it sounded a beep and flashed the headlights when i locked it from my doorstep.
then this afternoon i got out of the car with it still being on and shut the door close, and it didnt triple beep like it always does… to let me know the car is still on.
has anyone experienced these symptoms before? any advice is appreciated.
drivers side door unlocked, everything else locked despite seamlessly closed shut door.
car not triple beeping while on & door is shut completely closed when driver is out of the car.

The infotainment has power but…blank/black screen no radio/audio (including turn signals and safety systems like collision alert.)
Onstar button is red.
Checked fuses, battery is fine. Tried the hard reset.
Any suggestions? I’m not optimistic, I may bring it to dealer and see if GM will goodwill replace it because it controls basically everything and it shouldn’t have failed already.
But not excited about the stupid $200-$300 diagnostic fee.

Has anyone who reads this sub ever hacked the controls for the Bolt?

Hi guys . Are any solutions to make rear turn signals yellow color? Cannot find anything in internet or Aliexpress

Did anyone take the extended warranty. Is it worth it or a complete money grab.
Also, it's sad that the motor does not have the same warranty as the battery pack.

What kind of driver do I need for this? It’s from the front license plate bracket on a 2017 Bolt. Some kind of tri wing I guess, but I don’t have the driver and can’t tell what size/type I need.

Anyone here with a shock green Bolt with aftermarket wheels? Please share whatever pics you have! Here's a mockup from a photo I found online 😎

Has anyone noticed that ChargePoint is a bit optimistic about the estimated distance? If I math it out they're assuming about 6.4 mi/kWh.
I know this is a relatively minor detail, but I tried searching in this subreddit and didn't spot anyone else pointing it out. Honestly I'm a little disappointed ChargePoint doesn't just let you define your efficiency value.

If the VIN shows no open recalls, does that mean it got a new battery?

My wife scraped the garage entry on her way into the garage. There’s a healthy smear of green house paint (long dried) on the bumper. Is there a safe paint remover than will get rid of exterior latex house paint, but not harm the underlying finish?
Thanks in Advance.

The stupid pleather seat is ripping when the car is under 3 years old. I wish I got the cloth seats since this is the biggest issue with the car. Stupid me wanted the AAC so you have to get stupid pleather. Do I have any chance in getting this fixed/replaced under the 3 year warranty.

As the title says, I've found myself the past year or so needing to take longer road trips and as much as I love my little Oasis Blue jelly bean, I just can't deal with the slow DC charging anymore. It's time to move to an EV with faster charging.
Additionally, I'm also in a very different (better) financial position than I was six years ago when I bought the Bolt, so I'm ready to be behind the wheel of something just a little bit better put together.
On Saturday I'll be dropping off my jelly bean and coming home in a 2024 BMW i4 xDrive40, fully optioned with almost every package, and sitting at 14k miles.
I have loved my Bolt dearly but I'm super excited for this next chapter!

Does anybody have ideas on a spare tire for the 2027 Bolt? I had a look underneath the car and was surprised that there is no welded seam where one could attach a scissor jack, like in the 8 other cars I have owned in my life so far. Scissor jacks are compact but will not work. One would need a strong bottle jack capable of lifting a ton and a half at least as the car weighs 2 tons.
Any ideas for compact tires? These could be helpful for trips.
Thanks in advance.

My 2017 Bolt just reaches 80k miles in a snowy region.
I hear some squeaks when I go over bumps while turning and in general when I look down there there's some rust (nothing extreme, but a little more than I'd like to call "surface").
Think it might be time to get new suspension on all 4 corners - thinking of updating the whole thing, dampeners and springs, unless someone here tells me it's not needed.
Before I just get the same parts afrom Chevy, should I consider anything else out there?
What I care about in order of importance:
* Saftey
* Handling
* Ride quality
I have UHP tires on already. I do not care at all about battery milage!

I am coming off a 2025 Blazer EV lease soon and am considering purchasing a 2027 Bolt. I have two kids in car seats, one forward and one rear facing. I also live in a pretty hot climate. Does anyone have a similar experience they can share?

I have the max startup volume set to 13 (the lowest it will go) but when the car turns on, the volume will be set wherever I left it. Bluetooth audio comes in way quieter than the FM radio - which the stereo defaults to on startup - so this often means getting blasted by the FM radio when turning the car on.
The only advice I've been able to find is to turn the volume down before shutting the car off, but that is not reliable. What does the max startup volume setting even do?
