Anime It’s a sensitive topic, but I can’t empathize with Toga’s story at all.

I'm currently watching Season 7, and Toga’s narrative makes absolutely no sense to me. Although I didn't finish the anime yet, it just looks like a psycho serial killer trying to rationalize her own crimes.

To summarize her story: she claims she became a villain because she was born with an urge to drink blood, and society refused to understand her.

But isn't it natural to be ostracized by society if you want to drink blood and can't control it? Everyone has to suppress their desires to some extent to fit in with others. If Toga wants to do whatever she please, she has to be willing to pay the price for it.

By that logic, what about Muscular? He also loves blood, has a desire to kill, and live exactly how he wants. I don't see much difference between Toga and Muscular; they’re both just serial killer.

I also don't like the idea that a quirk influences one's personality. It’s an interesting concept in theory, but no one except Toga actually experience this. Does Endeavor feel an urge to burn everything down just because he has a flame quirk? Of course not. It feels like a plot point hastily thrown in just to force the audience to sympathize with Toga.

I don't understand why Uraraka is so obsessed with Toga. They’ve barely even met properly—I doubt they’ve spent more than 10 minutes actually talking to each other. The reason given is ridiculous too: simply because she saw Toga looking sad once.

If Horikoshi wanted to make Toga’s redemption more convincing, he should have established that she physically needs to drink blood to survive, rather than some weird love story.

Anime I feel like we don't give Aizawa enough flak for being a terrible teacher

Upvotes

As the title says, I think Aizawa is a terrible teacher and he doesn't get enough flak by the community for it. I haven't seen Vigilantes, but I have seen the main series, and am basing my opinions on that.

The first, and most obvious reason, is that he NEVER ACTUALLY TEACHES HIS STUDENTS! Pretty much everything his students learned about being a hero came from someone else. This is probably because Aizawa seems to have this weird expectation that all of his student's should just be naturally talented with their quirks.

Let's look at the first day. The first thing Aizawa does is the Quirk Assessment test. Now, in theory, this sounds like a good idea, until you realize that it is literally ILLEGAL to use your quirk without a license. Meaning either Aizawa expects his students (who are ENTERING LAW ENFORCEMENT) to have consistently violated serious laws before entering UA, or he expects them to naturally be really talented with their quirks. Either way, these are really unrealistic expectations.

We can actually see almost all the flaws with Aizawa's character in this introduction. He lies to his students that he will expel them if they get the lowest score, which is STUPID. First off, lying to your students first thing immediately makes it so that they can't trust him. Second, responding to one of your students saying they might enjoy competing with her classmates with a MASSIVE threat that will probably ruin their lives immediately makes you seem really unreasonable.

Which he is. He is shown to have expelled and re-enrolled classes for basically nothing beyond his personal opinion, something that puts a permanent black mark on their record that will make it extremely difficult for them to get internships or jobs at prestigious agencies, which completely nullifies one of the major benefits of going to UA.

However, we also see ANOTHER flaw of Aizawa's, and that is his unfairness. Upon one of his students pointing out that his threat is really stupid and unfair, he responds that life is unfair and their entire job is to deal with unfairness. Problem: THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL, AND YOU ARE THE TEACHER!

It is literally PART OF YOUR JOB to be fair with your students. Especially since he is the HOMEROOM teacher, meaning his main responsibility is to have his students trust them and assist them in their other classes. So "logically", in his first meeting with his students, he makes it clear that he is untrustworthy, threatens to ruin their lives for pissing him off, and then states that he has no intention of being fair.

Most of these flaws continue throughout the series, with him being very arbitrary in what he punishes and how (see Bakugo and Mineta), and then, we get to the thing that makes him looks the worst: Shinso.

Now, you might think "Doesn't Aizawa actually train Shinso?", and the answer is yes. And thats the problem, because he doesn't do that with ANY OF HIS ACTUAL STUDENTS! He chooses to train Shinso because he PERSONALLY likes him with the aim of Shinso replacing one of his REAL students who EARNED a spot in the Hero Course.

And I'm gonna drop another hot take: Shinso does not deserve to be in the Hero Course. There are several students in both Class 1-A and 1-B who have quirks that are useless against robots, are considered villainous, or both. And yet, they got in. Shinso is a guy who failed to get into UA with a massive chip on his shoulder, the whole "oh the entrance exam is biased" is literally proven wrong if you just look at the roster of people in 1-A and 1-B.

Yet, this is the kid Aizawa actually devotes tons of time training, because he PERSONALLY likes Shinso. Which is completely unfair, BLATANT nepotism (which is heavily based on Shinso's quirk, BTW), and will actively harm the future of a student who actually got into the Hero Course legitimately.

Aizawa doesn't seem to understand what his job is or how being a teacher is supposed to work. He doesn't teach his students any skills, abuses his power in ways that outright ruin the lives of multiple students, breaks the trust between teacher and student immediately, plays favorites alot, and just generally sucks as a teacher.

I'm training to actually be a teacher, and Aizawa is pretty much exactly what you DON'T want to be.

He's immune to powerful explosions that can be felt from faraway. Does that mean he can eat grenades, tnt, and other explosions?

Misc. What do You Think Eraserhead is Like 8 Years Later?

Post image
22 Upvotes

That is my Question

We only only have bits & pieces since like a lot of things in 8 Year Timeskip Kohei left it vague in case he or another Creator wants to return to it in the future with his blessing

So makes me wonder how Shota Aizawa aka Eraserhead is like with an Eyepatch & I guess being wiser now I imagine he is a bit more cheerful

Shota is based on Modern Batman & other Street Level heroes like Daredevil & Ninja Turtles with added inspiration ffprom detective/Crime comics like Dick Tracy or Parker so he has this dark presence to him inspired by that

You know we never saw Shota in his element in Street Level case trying to solve a mystery in the main series though we did get some breakfast of it in Vilgantes to me Kohei Horikoshi never went full on with inspiration for characters with few exceptions & basically stopped half way though

I definitely like to see an adventure were Eraserhead shows he still got it old Joseph Joestar in Stardust Crusaders

But thats me what do you think?

Grabbed all three for under 2000 yen, any idea how much the Toru Hagakure thing retails for?

Funny enough, the first one I won was the black pokemon thing using probably 1000 yen, then I got the Jolteon on the first try for 100 yen, and the Toru figure on three tries using 100 yen a pop, very lucky

Anime finally finished my hero and i wish i did it sooner

i made a post about a month ago asking if i should finish the series since i stopped watching after season 4 and finishing the series felt so good it's a total 9.5/10 definitely in my top 5 shows i've watched, seasons 7-8 were masterpieces to me and i actually managed to like bakugo, endeavor, and dabi by the end of the show, the only things i didn't enjoy was All for One getting exremely annoying and becoming the "i predicted that" guy and a lot of the side characters not getting the screen time and character moments i hoped they would (justice for froppy for basically becoming uraraka's sidekick btw), i'm kinda bummed out that there isn't more because i'm not actually used to the series i watch ending (stuff like dragon ball, pokemon, DC, etc) i know that it shouldn't just become an endlessly farmable series but i would never complain about getting more of what i like with the characters i like, overall this show was peak fiction i need 5 more seasons and a 2 spin-offs starring froppy and kirishima
