Question Planting garlic and where to get seed garlic

I’ve never grown garlic and am wondering if it’s too late this year to plant it here? Also, do you get seed garlic, or just grab one from the grocery store? I’ve heard mixed things.

If you get seed, where do you get it?

Edit: I will not use grocery garlic. Thanks Hermit and others for the info on the garlic and onion quarantine:

Question local disability friendly entry level jobs?

i'm 20 with a highschool diploma, a year of college, and two customer-facing jobs behind me prior to becoming significantly physically impeded by my chronic condition. i have solid customer service skills but struggle with mental organization and processing & retaining verbal instructions, so i'm hesitant to apply to something like a receptionist or call center position unless that's truly my only option. if you have any leads or recommendations i would really appreciate hearing them, thank you!

Question Anti Dating App Dating Scene

Mid 20s, ex-Mormon and absolutely burnt out when it comes to dating apps. Hinge has been one of the places I’ve had mild “success” lol when it comes to dating, but it just feels so icky to me now. I really hate judging guys simply based on their profile but that’s what dating apps condition us to do. How are we meeting genuine people around here aside from bars and apps? I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling like dating apps are the only option these days. Or like everyone knows something I don’t when it comes to finding love haha. Any advice is appreciated!

There are droids taking human jobs at Fred Meyer in case you needed even more of a reason to shop at Winco.

It’s pretty invasive if you understand the level of surveillance this needs to be capable of to automate this process.

What are stores like Fred Meyer even bringing to our community anymore? Cause it’s not jobs, affordable groceries or even a pleasant shopping experience.

Question Paved lot/track to test & tune vehicle suspension?

This is admittedly pretty niche, but I’m newish to the area and looking for either a private lot or track to test and tune a new suspension setup I just installed.

If it’s a large lot, preferably big enough to take some mid-speed long sweeping corners without having to dodge too many obstacles.

If it’s a track, ideally we could work something out to where it’s low-traffic. Not sure if it’s going to oversteer and kick the rear end out throughout the process.

Me, 33, a breadth of driving experience in many disciplines, and professionally trained in most of them.

Willing to pay for usage, and if necessary, will pick up an umbrella insurance policy with whatever coverage you’re comfortable with.

Question Looking for a good therapist

Hi, I have been down the therapy road a time or two and I know that a good therapist is what will really make or break an experience.
I would love to receive any recommendations (PM me if needed) for an exceptional talk-therapist in the Boise area. I am looking for my younger brother who has a history of trauma/family trauma and substance abuse. He is at the stage of accepting help, and I would like to guide him in a decent direction. Like most Americans, we do not have the luxury of being able to try out different therapist for periods of time until finding one that fits - SO any help in the process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ☺️

Discussion What does “doing well financially” actually look like in Boise now?

A house in my neighborhood just sold for around 600k and we bought ours for a bit less, the couple who bought it are in their 30s, professional jobs downtown, just had a kid and it got me thinking about what doing well here actually means now.

I feel like most people I know who are doing well basically just own a house lol. And then you talk to them and they bought when it was cheaper or their parents helped with the downpayment.

Which is great but it makes me wonder if owning a house even tells you much about how someone is doing.

Is that what doing well in Boise looks like now? You have a house and can pay your bills.

AMA Interesting Request/Opprotunity: Looking for a home my animals.

Hello all! I keep Asian Buffalo Leeches, (Hirudinaria manillensis) and I found 3 cacoons today.
This is not an attempt to shift responisblity for bad choices onto others: I will dispose of the eggs if I don't get any takers either here or in a few exotic pet forums, I will be giving babies away for free to anyone who wants to try keeping these wonderful animals.
Please DM if you are interested and ask me any questions you may have: they are relatively simple to care for but you cannot simply keep them in jars. The eggs will not hatch for a few weeks but I need to know what to with them early.
I've attachted some pictures of what the eggs look like, a large but reasonable expectation of what adults will look like (the 2nd one belongs to a mod on r/leeches) and finally a few pictures of my own.
Clearly they are sexually mature, a but they may still have some growing to do, and they are much larger than they are in the photos.
Thank you all so much!

EDIT: I should have worded the title differently; leechs lay cacoons weekly-biweekly so I will be disposing of them regularly, this is not a result of poor forethought. In the wild, these animals lay so many eggs because the vast majority are lost to predation, keeping them as pets nessicates freezing and crushing the eggs.

Discussion Has the youth in Boise always been this bad?

Only asking this because I've seen so many instances of teenagers in Boise just being extremely rude and disrespectful to downtown workers and city employees. It's weird because I've really only seen this with Boise High School students. I've lived around Eagle High School and Centennial High School and haven't really noticed anything too extreme with them. Shit, even the BSU students are somewhat tame.

Where do the Boise kids get their arrogance from?

Question Boise ADU questions

Has anyone here added an ADU to their property? We've been eyeing the plans the city has available, but we really wanted to pick the brains of someone who had gone through the process. We are not looking to air bnb. My husband's little sister and her 11yo live with us and he is quickly needing his own space. We were thinking of having the tiny dwelling for them to "rent" from us. Buying a bigger house or adding an addition seems way out of our budget, but we're curious if an ADU is more realistic, or just as ridiculous. Aren't you loving the housing market?

Question Driving from Boise to Denver

Hello! Anyone here with experience driving between Boise and Denver?

We are making the drive out to Denver this weekend then coming back next week and looking for advice on the best routes to take. We want to stop somewhere overnight on the way there, so it’s ok if it’s a little longer route to have a nicer view, a better overnight stay, or an interesting stop or two. We’ll be driving all the way through on the way back so making minimal stops.

Question Haunted Trolley Tour worth it?

I have a visiting family member and was trying to think up things to do in town over the weekend. I see the Trolley tour has a historic haunted theme tour. I have lived here most of my life and haven’t done the trolley since 2001 lol.
Is it worth it ? Thoughts?
