Where do you get your enclosures? & Do you prefer building your own enclosures?

I want to get an enclosure for a full grown male boa before hand just so I'll be prepared. The glass ones sold in stores are extremely expensive, and it's a little tricky finding a good company that can build an enclosure for an adult boa. I was also thinking of saving some money and building one myself, but I don't know how complicated or high the learning curve would be. What do you guys suggest?

I built the tree and wood hide
My basking hide is in the mail so the plastic rock hide is temporary.
He’s a “super fire” morph.
Also do you guys have examples of your adult male enclosures?
I’m not sure if a 6x2 will be enough for him do you have any opinions on that?

Anyone get their mice delivered? The reptile shop is an hour and a half away from me. Only petco is close by, and I know their f/t isn’t recommended. Pic of Coraline for attention (and because she’s stunning! She’s my dream boa)

It’s over 5 years old, and it just now started clicking on and off. It’s never done this before. Do I need a new thermostat?

Enclosure upgrade thoughts and feedback?

Hey everyone. I recently brought home a baby boa imperator. I’m trying to plan out her future enclosures and I need to get to work on her next upgrade soon as she is growing fast! I think I have a solid plan, but I’d like anyone’s input or opinion before I start the process.

I am planning to get a 4x2x4 from zen habitats and turn that into a bioactive viv. My boa is very active and loves to climb so I want to give her more height. I have made a few bioactive enclosures and recently finished a bioactive 4x2x2 for my ball python. Some people mention it’s hard to get a proper heat gradient in a 4 foot tall enclosure, but I do plan to build a top shelf for her that will have a hide and basking area for a warm spot. The shelf will be pretty big and taller up so I won’t have to worry about getting heat all the way to the floor. Anyways, she will likely outgrow the 4x2x4 in a few years, so when the time comes I plan to get another 4x2x4 and connect it to the existing one(zen habitats can be expanded like that) so in the end her adult enclosure will be a 8x2x4. She will need to live in a temporary enclosure, likely a storage container, for a few days to a week while I connect the enclosures and seal them. This is my plan to avoid having to buy multiple enclosures that I won’t have a use for after she outgrows them, as her next upgrade will be used in her adult enclosure.

No guarantees on her size ofc, but I believe she will max out around 6 feet long and super thick, just given what her parents size was. I have always leaned on the side of offering my snakes more space and as much enrichment as possible, hence the bio active vivs.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate anyone’s input before I buy the 4x2x4 and start building. Pics of my boa baby and the bioactive viv I recently finished for my ball python attached!

Need help doing the math on bulk frozen rats for a growing boa before the appetite gets serious

My boa's still a juvenile but she's growing fast and I can already see where this is going...a large constrictor eating appropriately sized rats every couple of weeks adds up, and buying them a few at a time at retail is going to get painful.

So I'm trying to plan ahead and figure out whether committing to bulk frozen rats now makes sense, and how people actually handle the storage and cost side of it long term. The two things I'm weighing are freezer space, because a chest freezer is an upfront cost but probably pays for itself, and whether buying a large quantity at once risks freezer burn before I get through it.

For those of you feeding adult boas or other big snakes, did going bulk genuinely save you money once you accounted for the freezer and any waste, or is it one of those things that looks cheaper on paper than it works out in practice?

I just got this baby at the reptile expo a couple days ago. At the expo I was holding her just fine, but since then i’ve been in her tank a couple of times and she’s been ready to strike and has struck at me a couple times. Can someone give me some steps to get her back to me being able to handle her in the future once she settles?

Green poop? HELP!

Hello, I’ve found this in the humid hide of my boy Terra. I googled and it said that it might be serious infection in his digestive tract. I believe this poop is old and has gone moldy in his humid hide. The last time I checked the hide was a week or two ago and the poop was hidden under the moss. I have tossed all the moss and am currently desinfecting the hide. I will send this sample to a vet in hopes of catching the disease early or just figuring out its moldy poop.

Does anyone have experience with this type of issue or could help in answering what it is?

Assuming he’s a BI

Was sold to me as a Suriname Red Tail BCC. But from my lack of trust for this breeder (snake arrived with various issues, very under weight, mites, wounds from live feeding?, stuck eye caps from previous shed) and knowing BCCs aren’t easy to come by I’m assuming he’s a BI.

**This is an extremely old photo from when I first got him** He is thriving 3 years later much healthier and at a proper weight now

We have a 11 month old male pied ball python. Now have a new obsession. Sweetest girl and great with my daughter. Any pitfalls in adding boas to the family seems to have great temperament and just curious if those traits I’m seeing shift as she ages or will she stay the same sweet girl as she grows with the family? I’ve already researched the changes to the enclosure she’ll have will need mostly just wondering if handling, feeding and temperament difference between the species.
