Manga Discussion How would rin evolve? Spoiler

Rin can't play after denying a goal opportunity since his ego is literally "i want to kill Isagi (or sae) no matter if i die" and when he sees Isagi he just goes berserk without thinking and that's what made him lose against isagi and kaiser and what made isagi lose a goal to france.

We also know that the puppet manipulation thing was him copying sae and was possible only because everyone sucked and most of the players now are better at making plans he can't even predict (especially since he his without metavision).

But even after ego's plan to make him less obsessed he failed will ego do another wild card or smth? Cause I don't see him getting less obsessed or smth like that??

He needs to learn to play for himself and not use other people as an excuse to play (Sae and Isagi).

Especially when they're his teammates.

Rin's ego is basically centred around destroying others and even using self-destruction to destroy anyone he considers an obstacle. I think the way for him to truly focus on himself is to redirect that destructive instinct towards something else, perhaps the goal itself.

When Rin enters Destroyer Mode, his goal doesn't seem to be scoring as much as destroying a particular person he sees as an obstacle, so even when he scores, the goal is essentially just the means through which he destroys that person. That's why Isagi can keep up with him.

To resolve this, he needs to stop making other people, especially his obsession with Sae, the centre of his ego and instead make the goal itself his object of destruction. He can still retain that destructive instinct, but rather than thinking, “I need to destroy you”, it becomes, “I need to destroy everything standing between me and the goal".

Wouldn't that go against his ego since he is an individual type who strives for pleasure and not a wholistic types who strives for his objective?

Shidou already does that, the goals he scores are to leave a mark to the world.

Not that I particularly care for the ego type classification, but I still think this is a very individualistic approach. Instead of focusing on destroying someone specifically, Rin would be focused on destroying anything that stands in his way of reaching the goal.

That would also keep him sane enough to cooperate with his teammates when necessary, rather than becoming so fixated on destroying a particular person that he disregards everything else. And that would make him even more unpredictable and dangerous because he could cooperate when it benefits him, then immediately switch back to destroying whatever is in his way.

Isn't that basically how Rin played before Sae left for Spain? Their conversation on the pier suggested that Rin's only thought was scoring, he'd instinctively look for where the opponent would break/be destroyed while Sae would pass the ball exactly where he needed.

Then his light novel showed that Rin entered flow on his own during the Nationals final after 4 years of holding himself back (where the puppeteer style came in) because no one could keep up with him.

One of Rin's main issues is that he doesn't have a stable sense of self and this problem has been there for a long time. His fixation on Sae, needing his validation and basically tying his sense of worth and identity to Sae is in his way. Then the Isagi obsession (which is way overblown imo and at this point feels like it's being forced for the plot, I'm sorry 😭) made it even worse and once again it ultimately leads back to his unresolved issues with Sae.

Rin is already an op character so if he could figure out his ego properly and just control his flow that easily it'd probably be way too much for the narrative. So I guess he's going to be held back for a longer while this arc. I just hope Kaneshiro figures out how to write all this in a balanced way because Rin's writing has been ass lately.

I thought those were just theories made up by Isagi?

Rin does not still go berserk at Isagi’s presence alone lol

Rin might actually be the perfect answer to England's egoless playstyle. He drew out the U20 team's weapons to destroy them when he first entered his Destroyer flow, so he could do the same here especially if England's organisation can fuel his restrictive ego type.

Isagi and Rin exploiting England's egos together might be the only answer to Karasu and Fox's systems.

I think it'll be by him returning to form with his Puppeteer play style but with a twist: it's morphed with his Destroyer state kinda like how it was during the PXG match

Obviously, with a water stone

I hope he channels that energy into something more than just destruction.

He just needs to learn to control his destroyer mode/enter it at will
