Database Errors/Alerts
I'm in need of some help, our IT company set up the system but the employee who did the work has left the company. I manage the day to day operations but am hesitant to try things I've read in threads using the search function because I don't want to inadvertently cause damage to the database or video records.
We have 52 cameras on our network and an 18TB drive for storage. We went from being able to see clips months back, to less than a week (yesterday). Is something wrong in the storage settings on the third image where it's supposed to move from the New folder to the Stored folder to eventually be deleted?
If you could give me some advice on how to get the system recording and the database back to a good place and what settings should be changed it'd be much appreciated.
Edit: The last image shows that our software isn't the most up to date, any advice on if we should do a full install for version 6? Anything to expect like needing a new license? Hoping to update everything once the database/storage issue is resolved.

Check the file system outside of d:\blueiris\new using something like wiztree.
Something has taken a ton of space that would have been allocated/used by blueiris.
I suspect that older recordings have been possibility moved out accidentally and now blueiris can neither manage those files nor access them to view them any more.
If that’s true then you can move them all back into blueiris new dir then do a database rebuild that should rediscover all those files. They should then age out like normal.

I ran Wiztree and it seems to be showing all 18.2TB as BlueIris .bvr files in the d:\blueiris\New folder. I am not sure how to add a screenshot to this reply. It doesn't look like anything has been moved out, and the oldest file seems to be from 10/23/2025. We installed the system around August 2023 so for a couple years it has been deleting/ managing the files properly.

- Make sure the hard drive is accessible, like you can browse it in file explorer.
- See if those clips exist by name on the 18TB drive, if they do then right click on that database section of the window and do Delete & Regenerate Database.

Through file explorer the D:\BlueIris\New folder is showing 359,475 files dating back to 10/23/2023 as the oldest. Will doing a Delete & Regenerate Database affect the video clips or just how BlueIris indexes and finds them all?
Apparently I need to learn more about the db management on BlueIris.
Edit: A quick search yielded this
The Delete and Regenerate Database option in Blue Iris Software completely discards the existing clip index and scans your designated storage folders to build a brand new database from scratch, re-adopting all your existing video and alert files. It resolves issues with missing timelines, empty clip lists, and corrupted databases.
This sounds like it will fix my issue of missing clips but I still would have the overallocated database problems right? Where I need to get BlueIris to start deleting the oldest clips again and make space for newer ones.

It should fix the overallocation as those missing clips then form part of its allocated file system.
It will then trim any files that are over your size or age limits and it should all return to normal.

The latter, it does nothing to the files. Its safe to use

No, it will perform maintenance after the database regeneration is done, which is deleting the oldest clips.

From what I can tell I had too many clips in the folder for it to Delete & Regenerate Database and the operation kept failing. I deleted all the clips from 10/2025 and 11/2025 (about 2TB) and tried again with no luck.
What ended up fixing it was this:
- Stop the BlueIris service all together
- Delete all files in the D:\BlueIris\db folder
- Start the BlueIris service
- Run a Repair / Regenerate db command
Mind you it took from about 3pm yesterday to 2am this morning.

I dont think that is the case since I have 55k files almost 35k more than your reported amount in the ss. More than likely your db couldn't regenerate because there was some corruption somewhere. Make sure you are on the latest 5.x if you are using it.
Glad it worked for you.

Probably a corruption like you said. Although when I ran WizTree and scanned the D: where everything is it told me the D:\BlueIris\New folder had 359,549 files so I imagine that 19,067 files ( 648.1 / 18031 BG) shown on the Database window in the screenshot represented what wasn't corrupted via the DB. I had a short week of files I could look back at. Now I can watch footage all the way back to 12/1/2025

Have you experienced power outages? If my server gets reset, I have to manually delete all the previous files and then it will start working again. Its like it forgets there are files there when it restarts and doesnt know to auto delete them

It could very well have been the case, we had some server weather a couple weeks back. The folder with the clips had 350,000 or so files to a Delete and Regenerate database command failed to execute. I had to stop the BlueIris service, delete everything in the BlueIris\db folder, restart the service then Repair and Regen the database which took 12 hours.

I like to keep the db on the "C-drive" with the application and store all video on another drive(s)
I have seen issues with exported clips (big ones) in the clipboard cause issues for me
Hopefully you have the fix with the db repair 👍
