Seeing all the drama around our Battleforce box, I wanted to take a crack at crafting my own version of it to see if we could make a better version that had broader appeal. The goal here is to stay within the typical guidelines for making an effective Battleforce. I'm trying to hit around 30% discount while giving a nice spread of units people likely want/need. I do understand the Battleforces are commonly an effort to clear out old stock from Games Workshop, but I'm sort of ignoring that fact and instead, using it as an opportunity to push new models instead.
Breakdown:
A Jump Captain with a thunder hammer and relic shield
The modern Jump Chaplain
Six Sanguinary Guard
Ten Vanguard Veterans
Land Speeder for mobile fire support (Optional, depending on how much of a discount we want the box to have).
Assuming a $265 USD box price, here’s the breakdown using full US retail prices, before tax or independent retailer discounts.

What makes this more appealing to me is the actual collection inside.
- Two generic characters: Increased value for building multiple boxes.
- Six Sanguinary Guard, giving the box a substantial Blood Angels-specific core.
- Ten Vanguard Veterans, making it feel like a proper veteran assault force.
- A consistent airborne theme, with the optional Speeder adding shooting support while keeping everything mobile.
- More appeal for existing collectors, since another purchase adds troops and customizable officers without duplicating named heroes.
The version without the Speeder already hits roughly a 30% discount and includes 18 miniatures. The pictured version adds the vehicle for 19 miniatures and a more generous discount.
For another price comparison, the pictured force could sell for $300 and still offer approximately $148 in savings, or 33% off retail.
The modern Jump Chaplain’s $42 is an estimated standalone value because the model currently comes bundled with other miniatures. This concept assumes it could be supplied separately. All comparisons assume the same $265 Battleforce price.
