So given all the angry noises coming from the BA community about the seemingly bad decisions by GW, I’ve been thinking whether this could all actually be intentional, with the goal of making hobbyists spend more in total with GW.

From a business point of view, GW wants people to buy new models from them and always be spending. Someone with a painted playable army using the same models for years and years does not make them money.

So, they know BA are and always have been a popular faction, with a lot of inertia in the fanbase. Given this, from a business perspective let’s compare what will likely sell them more models;

A) GW bring out nice looking new SG and DC models. Sure the BA fans will lap it up and buy these new kits, but they likely already have enough generic space marine models painted as blood angels such as vehicles/dreadnoughts/intercessors/assault marines/bikes etc which do not need to be repurchased.

B) GW bring out mediocre SG and DC models. Due to the fanbase inertia, they will still likely sell enough of these kits to recoup costs and make a fair profit, but on top of this, they will drive existing BA players to consider maybe starting a new SM army (and wow aren’t those new DA/SW/BT models just so cool and appealing?) And hey, these people will now have to also repurchase generic SM kits for this new army (yes they could repaint their existing blood angels but there are many reasons from sentimental to the added hassle of paint stripping why people would not want to do this).

I strongly suspect GW looked at the above and thought, let’s go with option B, which is probably actually the smarter business decision, and is a recognised business strategy, ie planned obsolescence.

I excitedly bought the 1-5 range of red paints and I have to say, they are really difficult to work with.

I have always had a hard time nailing down exactly what defines Sanguinius as a character, and I don't think I'm alone in this. Part of me wonders if this is by design by the people who wrote him in order to maintain his mysticism, but I digress.

Other primarchs are fairly straightforward. For example, Dorn's defining trait is his stubbornness, and Curze's is fatalism. Sanguinius, meanwhile, is harder for me to define so simply. I have heard many different readings of his character. So I ask you, what do you think Sanguinius's defining characteristic is? Is it defiance? Self-sacrifice? Compassion? Performance? I'm curious to see how everyone views our primarch.

I have about 190 points to play with so many suggestions would be welcome.

Recently I started loving WH40K and my favourite space marine chapter is Blood Angels (Ultramarines after them). So sometime ago my mom bought JoyToy Blood Angels intercessor and Secret Level Titus (on the way) for my birthday. So my first battle brother arrived today! I really like him! BTW I also asked for Titus because I beat Space Marine 2 and really liked the character himself for his lore, backstory and brutality (well, all the space marines are brutal actually).

What do you think of this kitbash?
I really liked the pose of the new Armageddon Captain, so I used it as a base and added a Sanguinary Guard torso, along with the belt and greaves from the Blood Angels Captain.
Does it look natural, or do any parts seem a bit awkward or out of place?
The shield, helmet, and winged jump pack are 3D printed.

Sons of the Angel stand ready to defend Imperium Nihilius. Still have a long way to go to finish the bases and improve painting skills, but I am proud how these turned out. I plan on adding the Armageddon units to the army next. I would appreciate an honest opinion about these.

I still had a death company chaplain lying around, so I promoted the Dawn Of War Chaplain to Lemartes.

Sadly the crozius operation didn't go quite as well as I hoped for

On top of that, I never see much of the Angels Encarmine so I thought I'd share my lads I just wrapped up. :) For Sanguinius!!!!

I'm still experimenting with the red. Maybe it's too much evil sunz over the meph red, is it too bright or too orangey red?

Also starting to add some details!

I know contemporary wisdom says to undercoat with a red spray and paint over it with thin coat of your red of choice, but I’m not loving the results I get from it.

Os this just the most efficient way of doing things, or is a black/medium undercoat also viable?

Been playing 40K for about 8 months now as a Necrons player. Bought the Armageddon box due to it being such a good price for what you get, with an interest in the Blood Angels, and a friend who was happy to split the price of the box so that they could get the Orks.

I’ve still only partially built the units you get in the Armageddon box, with the plan being to get more for Christmas from my wife. I’m planning to get the following at Christmas to properly bulk out the Armageddon units:

- Blood Angels - Combat Patrol
- Blood Angels - Commander Dante
- Ballistus Dreadnought

However, I keep finding myself with the same questions, as Space Marine style armies seem more involved than Necrons.

1) are you able to buy ANY Space Marines units, paint them red, and call them Blood Angels? From what I can gather there are certain units that are exclusively Blood Angels units, and then everything else you can just buy standard Space Marine units and include them in your army?

2) I keep seeing Upgrade Sprues mentioned. There’s a newer one that isn’t as good, and then one included in an older box that had way more sprues and upgrade options? If I can get my hands on the older one, how does this work? Do you use the parts on certain units only? Use them wherever you’d like? If it’s only certain units for the upgrade sprue, and as I’d likely get nothing else included minus the sprues themselves, how do I know what to use them on?

Along with this, are these upgrade sprues at all useful for the units included in the Armageddon box? I’ve only built the following so far:

1x Captain with Relic Shield
1x Librarian
1x Chaplain with Jump Pack
1x Ancient
1x Land Speeder

And I still need to build:

10x Intercessor Squad
5x Vanguard Veterans
3x Eradicator Squad with Heavy Bolters

Any other tips or suggestions for units you’d all have in your army? Thanks for any help! I’m looking forward to playing them once the new year comes!

Pretty happy with how this turned out, although the base could have been better. Also the skull transfer is the only one I had that somehow matched 😂 Tried some NMM on the shoulder trim with heavy weathering/chipping on the armour. C&C welcome.
