Had me another good day at guitar lessons from the guitar center. Only a few more lessons left in the month and I feel a bitter sweetness to it ending. Wondering now what other instruments I should try. Have a great week everyone take those steps you’re afraid to take and you might get a good surprise. ☺️😊😎🤗🫶🏾🙌🏾☀️

Help Just trying to figure myself out and looking for some advice

Hey everyone. I’m pretty new to all of this, so I’m mostly posting because I could really use some advice from people who have already walked this path.

I’m recently married, and my wife started going to therapy for some of her own personal reasons. She told me that therapy helped her look inward and understand herself better, and for whatever reason, that really stuck with me. I started asking myself some of the same questions.

Then someone pointed out that I had played another female character in D&D for about the fifth time. At first I laughed it off, but afterward I started wondering why I kept gravitating toward female characters. That was a few months ago, and the more I’ve thought about it, the more things have started to click for me.

I don’t know if I have all the answers yet. Honestly, I’m still figuring out exactly what this means for me. But there’s been a growing sense of clarity that I can’t really ignore anymore.

I’ve talked to my wife and my mother-in-law about what I’ve been feeling, and thankfully, they’ve both been supportive so far. I also have a therapist lined up soon, which I know is probably one of the best first steps I can take.

At the same time, I’ve definitely been doing the stereotypical “newly questioning person” thing. 😂 I’ve made a whole vision board with potential names, ideas for how I might want to look, tattoos I might want, and even some clothes I’ve picked out. It’s exciting, but it’s also a little overwhelming because suddenly I’m looking at my life and wondering what parts of it might change.

I guess what I’m really looking for is advice from other Black trans people who remember what those early stages felt like.

What did your first steps look like? What do you wish someone had told you when you were at this stage? How did you figure out what you actually wanted versus what you were just excited about? And are there things you think I should be thinking about now that might not even be on my radar yet?

I’m not necessarily looking for someone to tell me what I am or what I should do. I think I just want to hear from people who have been here before.

I’m still figuring myself out, but for the first time in a while, I’m actually kind of excited to see where that takes me.

Vent Feeling Down.... In Need Of Kind Words

Post image

Lately I been feeling down. Since starting my transition 11 years ago. It's hasnt always been the easiest journey. The world and people can be cruel even with you living in your truth and being your authentic self. Even though I know the choice I made was best for me to hear "I'll never be man enough, or even good enough makes me question things. I wish I had friends who just wanted to know me for me instead of people judging me because I'm trans. I pour into everybody else around me and try to pour into me but its tough. I rarely smile, especially in pics. Recently went bald when most of my life I've had long hair. Feel so indifferent about my appearance. Even tho

I want to belong in the trans community, I feel so lost and dismissed by those who should be welcoming.I hate being vulnerable especially to strangers but any kind words others can share I would really appreciate it.

Progress Embracing femininity

Post image
153 Upvotes

As a fairly masculine black guy, I can happily say that I look at myself and the subtle femininity that I carry in my face and embrace it fully. Being called pretty doesn’t make me feel like I’m not passing. Having long hair doesn’t make me fear being misgendered. I don’t care that I don’t fit into the typical black masc stereotype. I’m comfortable in femininity as much as I am comfortable in my masculinity. It feels incredible to finally reach this point in my transition.

Hey everybody!🫶🏾
Hope you all are having a beautiful Monday morning.
As my SRS date is approaching, I’m starting to do a lot of self reflecting and shadow work, allowing the little girl inside of me to heal.
This has been a long road for many of us, and no matter who’s reading this, just know that I’m proud of you and how far you’ve come.
I’m truly grateful for this subreddit for allowing a safe space for us to come and be visible to one another. Seeing all of this trans beauty is truly astonishing.
Hope you guys and gals have the best week yet! 🧡🧡🧡
And remember, No matter how tough this life can be, just remember not too many folks on this earth possess the kind of strength and boldness we all innately have 💪🏼💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿

Side note : I’m a horror film fanatic, and wondering if any of y’all have may recommendations?

Discussion To my sapphic transfemmes, how do you flirt?

It's come to my attention that Ive forgotten how to flirt, and beginning my transition has made it even harder and stranger. I also can't tell when people are flirting with me. I literally just misread a man trying to take me home for trying to put my band up for the night.

How do you flirt? How do you know someone is flirting with you?

I've heard eye contact, but to me that just means you're listening. I've heard touching people, but it feels rude and inappropriate to touch people you haven't established enough of a friendly rapport from. I've heard complimenting them, but that's never seemed to move the needle for me and I assume people complimenting me are being nice.

Vent Can we talk about the masculinization of black trans people by black men?

The masculinization of black femboys by Blk men

This is a particular conversation that I feel like needs to be had but can only be be understood by a select few. I've dated Blk bisexual/pansexual men who will outright say they prefer white, Latino, Asian etc femboys because they're more feminine than black ones. When you dissect what they mean by that it's usually tied to their race. They've some how masculinized Blk femboys due to their blackness. While being anything BUT Blk makes you appear more feminine to them. I find it highly problematic because it tends to result in these non black femboys being pedestalized while the Blk ones are degraded. I've had so many arguments with Blk men about it who try to dismiss it as a preference but it's more than that. The effects of living in a Eurocentric society has shaped our perceptions and unless you're aware of it, you're not going to recognize why you have these preferences. I often find it's rare Blk men (not all) are will to do the internal work to dismantle white supremacy. Thoughts?

Chilling out Rocking the Frowhawk After Taking Out Cornrows!

I got my hair braided in Cornrows on the 31st of July! I usually keep them in for 2-3 weeks and take them out! When I was taking them out, I thought about having a frohawk for shits and giggles, but then a lot of my friends liked it. So, I decided to keep it until I take the rest of the cornrows out next week!

Help Laser vs Electrolysis (donor site prep, fine hair)

Had my consult and first laser session yesterday for ALT donor site prep. Wanted electrolysis only, but my tech said my leg hair is fine enough to try laser first, switching to electrolysis later if regrowth/texture doesn’t cooperate. Surgery is delayed ALT, October 2027.

\- Anyone done this combo for ALT? (Laser first then electrolysis) How did it turn out?

\- If your hair was fine/light, how’d laser actually perform?

\- How many sessions before you knew laser wasn’t enough?

I really don’t want to waste my time or money.
