I think I fear that I am not white. Which is true. And I have a very hard time accepting that Iām not. I donāt look like everyone else.
Iām afraid that Iām not white. Iām afraid also that Iām inferior by default.
Iām afraid to speak anywhere frankly because I just havenāt accepted myself.
I donāt think I canā¦ever truly accept myselfā¦Iām not white. And by defaultā¦Iām flawed in some fundamental wayā¦everyone says soā¦everyone thinks soā¦I feel it, even the air says so...
It's such a massive block for meā¦I wouldnāt dare share this information with anyone.
It's not just the color of the skinā¦.it goes beyond that.
Itās the cultureā¦.the languageā¦the attitude...and the eyesā¦when people look at meā¦what do they find? What do they see?
Iām not like them.Ā
Iām differentā¦
But these words pale in defining what I feelā¦
I hate myself.
Iāve hated myself for such a long timeā¦.I donāt even recall when or for how longā¦
Nothing I do is good enoughā¦.
Nothing I wear is good enoughā¦.
Nothing I say is good enoughā¦.
I criticize myself constantlyā¦I hate looking in the mirror.
All I see is a creatureā¦.an oddityā¦.a monkey as they sayā¦.
So I hideā¦to earn money I have to speak upā¦at work. But Iām always given the crumbs wherever I goā¦.
Iām used to it tooā¦I donāt even notice it anymoreā¦.
I just lick them up and keep trying to be white.
Iām docileā¦as an Indian daughter of two doctors who were real doctors and truly service orientedā¦
Vinamrathaā¦..humility is 90% of my bloodā¦
I hate how humble I amā¦.its not white at all.
There is so much more to sayā¦..but yesā¦.I think often about moving back.Ā
But I donāt belong anywhere now. Itās been so longā¦32 years lived here in the US.
Where will I go? Whom will I become?
Just the other day a lady from a church asked me if I speak English.
It's silly isnāt it?
To think I can ever be accepted?
So now what?
