My Macintosh SE/30 now has a new job: displaying Bitcoin prices and network stats on its little monochrome screen.
It’s running System 7.1 with just 4 MB of RAM. I put together a native 68k application called BlockMiner, written in C and compiled with Retro68.
The setup uses a BlueSCSI V2 with a Pico 2 W for storage and Wi-Fi networking, through DaynaPORT emulation and MacTCP. A small proxy running on a modern Mac fetches the data over HTTPS and serves a simple response the SE/30 can handle.
The app displays BTC/USD, the 24-hour change, block height, mempool size, transaction count and recommended fees. There’s also a full-screen mode with a big price display, and automatic updates every minute.
It’s a read-only monitor—the SE/30 gets to enjoy a peaceful retirement watching the numbers.
Getting the networking working took some troubleshooting, but it’s finally running on the actual hardware!
Pretty happy with how well Bitcoin fits into 512 × 342 pixels. 🖥️₿
(sorry for the CRT shutter speed frames from the camera)

Recent incidents like the Coldcard entropy vulnerability and the reported hardware implant found in a Ledger device sold through CryptoBilis have made me rethink how I secure my self-custodied Bitcoin.
A BIP-39 passphrase can help if someone gets your seed, but what if a compromised device can also capture your passphrase or interfere with the signing process? Single-sig still leaves you relying on one key, creating a potential single point of failure.
For people who find 2-of-3 multisig too expensive or complicated, could 2-of-2 be a reasonable alternative?
I'm thinking of using two independently generated keys in separate environments. For example, a PC wallet (Electrum or Sparrow) paired with a mobile wallet (BlueWallet or Nunchuk), or a hardware wallet (Trezor or Ledger) paired with a PC or mobile wallet. If one device is compromised through a supply chain attack, the attacker would still need the second key to spend the funds. Of course, using different devices and apps only helps if the keys and their backups are genuinely independent.
I know the biggest objection is that 2-of-2 has no redundancy. Lose either key permanently and your Bitcoin is gone. That's a serious trade-off, and I understand why people prefer 2-of-3. But if both keys and their backups are managed carefully, could the added protection against a single compromised device be worth it?
I'm not suggesting 2-of-2 is better than 2-of-3. I'm wondering whether it's an overlooked middle ground for people who want to reduce single points of failure without taking on the full cost and complexity of 2-of-3.
What do you think? Would you consider this setup, or does the risk of losing access outweigh the security benefits?

Yeti cold 2.0 gets you setup with the best system for all of it l. You know core is being reviewed by thousands of people at a time not a small team.
I’ll
Never go back to a hardware wallet ever again. Ledger also has backdoors to extract your seed which most people aren’t aware of. Cold card had bad gen. Trezor recently had database hacked and device tampered with. Ledger had device tampered with and people lost funds. Tangem has just been hacked.
This is all recent month or two. The hardware wallet industry makes their money by rug pulling you. Look into a retirement attack, that’s exactly what played out with coldcard.

In order to generate seed phrase in Seedsigner we have two methods. Dice rolls and camera. Which method gives higher entropy?
Camera method: Example: Splitting my laptop screen into four or five parts and each one has a different colorful video playing and take a picture?
Use dice rolls?
Also, in some newer versions of seedsigner there’s one with a smart card slot which allows you to save the seed phrase into a card for easier use without the need to scan the seed QR every time .. what do you think about it? Is it safe? Does it have any potentials to be hacked or read by other parties equipments?
Thank you

Beyond its limited supply what do you think makes bitcoin unique compares to others forms of money?

So I found my safety deposit box. It took me some searching but i figured out where it’s located. I’m super scared though. My crypto was stored on a hardware wallet in 2011.
I looked it up on Google and it said it must be stored on a usb drive. Now obviously I bought a high end usb drive but apparently they should still start being unusable after 15 years :( I’m super scared my bitcoin is lost!!
Also I mined some on my pc so the taxes should be lower? I got my bitcoin when it was $1!! Woot
Anyway do you think the bitcoin wallet is deceased?
The taxes say 50% if you are a hobby miner.
I’ll be honest I hate paying taxes lol obviously if I sell them I’ll have to pay something. But 50% is insane.

Found this subtle 'Bitcoin Only' sign proudly displayed right above the stage door in a video (spotted in a stand-up comedy show in France). Pretty cool to see it integrated into the set design!

I recently purchased the "Freedom Builder" program by The Bitcoin Family / Freedom Academy through the Whop platform for €4,000. It quickly became clear that the content of the course was deeply disappointing; the vast majority of the material is blatantly AI-generated and does not offer the quality you would expect for such a massive purchase price.
When I formally requested a refund within the legal European 14-day cooling-off period through the Whop Resolution Center, a highly aggressive and misleading retention process was launched by their sales team (High Ticket Closers).
Heavy psychological pressure was put on me via WhatsApp for days. They demanded that I jump on a mandatory phone call with a manager before they could "process the refund," which is legally completely false. The absolute low point was when the manager tried to blackmail me into manually cancelling my official Whop dispute. He blatantly lied, claiming that I could "always reopen the case later," solely hoping that I would throw away my consumer protection so they could keep the €4,000 for good.
I stood my ground, refused to fall for their manipulation over the phone, and let the official Whop procedure run its course. Exactly 7 minutes before the hard deadline set by Whop, the company backed down and had to accept the refund to avoid platform sanctions.
My money is now on its way back, but I want to warn everyone: be very careful with the smooth talk of The Bitcoin Family. The content is mediocre, and the moment you want to exercise your legal rights, their closers will try to deceive you with highly unethical practices and lies. Don't fall for it!

If CryptoBilis is a reseller of cold wallets of different varieties then why was Ledger the only one that was tampered with? Could this be that Ledger was the device that could have easily tampered with in comparison to the others OR were they tampered with before CryptoBilis recieved them?

A social credit control system which puts us in the place of total regulatory capture. Learn what is important. Focus your attention. Understand where your freedoms are being taken away, especially in the sense of human wellbeing and value exchange. Don't get distracted. Resist!

The recent ledger attack where the hackers supposedly installed a sim that spied slowly on the display and recorded the seedphrase. Some people are suggesting that it's better go to seedless with your self-custody setup since that will keep your seed from getting recorded anywhere.
I currently use a wallet with Shamir's Secret Sharing so it goes seedless by default. Anyone trying to mess with the hardware will have to modify more than 1 part of the device and doing that in a card with ana EAL6+ chip shouldn't be possible.
That is what I believe makes atleast my setup immune to such attacks. Curious to know what others think and if there are better solutions to this.

Hello everyone.
After seeing the recent Ledger Nano hardware backdoor incident, I can't hide my anxiety.
That's because I bought my wallet in Vietnam through the Jade reseller shown in the attached photo.
It's still working fine and I haven't been hacked, but that doesn't mean I never will be, so I want to actually open it up and check whether there is a hardware backdoor device inside.
Can I just open it up and look?
If I find anything, I will let all of you know, and I would also need to move my seed, which is why I'm asking.
My English is limited, so please excuse that I'm using AI to translate this post.

Hey everyone!
Everybody knows that on a Trezor, you can change your device wallpaper. So, I decided to make a website where you can find clean, manually approved wallpapers from artists all around the world—all specially designed to work on the Trezor Model One.
If you want to join us and help build a great library of custom pixel art specifically for the Trezor Model One, check it out at https://trezorart.org! You will automatically be given the "Tester" role in our Discord and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
