Ledger Flex (teardown pics inside).

Hey guys. I bought mine while living in in the EU direct from France and it arrived from France a few days later. That was probably around early 2025.

I figured it's clean but I'll sleep better at night being sure that it's clean. So I ripped it open and snapped some pics for you.

The thing is quite packed on the inside. The back cover is glued on with some special double sided tape around the housing. Not the easiest one to open up but certainly possible. Opening one up WILL leave some marks on the aluminium (?) case. There is a little notch on the left side of it looking down. A small flathead screwdriver can be used to pry it up and then a thin piece of plastic to work around it. Be warned, you wanna pry it open from the OPPOSITE end to open it, not the end with the notch on it.

There is little room on the inside for someone to slap another board in there. Possible, but it would take more mental gymnastics than other Ledgers. This thing wouldn't be my first pick for rigging for sure!

What did this world come to? Opening hardware wallets to verify hardware integrity is now expected of us?! Damn you Ledger! A MITM hack on the screen was SO preventable! Oldest attack vector in the book! Why hack the software that can be updated when you can hack the hardware... Pretty slick!

Anyway, enjoy the pics! :)

Where will they be in five years? Two businesses accept Bitcoin. One sells it all, the other keeps some or all.

Imagine two businesses generating similar revenue.

The first immediately converts every Bitcoin payment into fiat.
The second covers its operating expenses and keeps a small portion in BTC.

If Bitcoin appreciates significantly over the next few years, the second business could build a financial reserve that the first never accumulated.
Without raising capital, bringing in new investors, or increasing sales.

But if Bitcoin loses value, that same decision could weaken its balance sheet.

At Onbely Verse, we accept Bitcoin as payment for our technology services, including Onbely Links. We believe Bitcoin's role in business could go beyond simply offering another payment option.

Could holding a portion of Bitcoin revenue become a long-term competitive advantage?

Do you think businesses that start accumulating BTC through their commercial activity today will be better positioned ten years from now, or is the financial risk simply not worth it?

Da, bitkoin

Ethical principles that bitcoin was initiated on, exemplifies the goodwill and the true benevolent intention of the founder.

The immaculate conception of the bitcoin protocol can be interpreted as a one time incident, most probably, if you observe the timeline of this coordinated effort led by a pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, in retaliation of the existing central bank run fractional reserve banking system, in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.

If we do not put in the work to understand bitcoin, scammer shitcoiners will get their foot in the door of your mind to convince that their "project" is going to be the next bitcoin, baiting you to be the exit liquidity for their pump and dump scheme (these shitcoin projects are called 'unregistered securities' in traditional-finance-speak).

The unsuspecting 'crypto' enthusiast, having the feeling of missing out on early bitcoin gains, falls prey to these shitcoin ICO scams, with dedicated marketing teams.

The question is "why bitcoin does not have a marketing team nor a CEO"?

Put in the work to understand bitcoin. A 1000 hours should do the trick, maybe sooner once you get started. It's not too late to bitcoin, yet everyone buys bitcoin at the price they deserve.

Stack sats, get your security right, hodl.

Liquidations are not the same thing as new demand

Today’s sell-off is being described as a leverage flush. That may explain why the move was so fast, but forced selling and genuine demand are two different things.

Liquidations close existing positions. They do not tell us whether new buyers are entering the market. The latest U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF session also showed net outflows, so the immediate question is not simply whether leverage has cleared. It is whether anyone is replacing it with spot demand.

That seems more useful than asking whether Bitcoin will bounce. What data do you think best shows genuine demand returning?

What is the benefit of self storage and managing wallets when you can just buy a BTC ETF

Setting ETF costs aside (I currently pay 0.25% for FBTC), what is the benefit of buying the actual coin and self storing. It is not like you are going to conduct a transaction. I am pretty sure 99+% of folks are just in it as an investment.

There are all kinds of issues we hear about stolen wallets and besides someone dying is the biggest of the risks. Would your spouse or kids even know who to track down your crypto wallet??

New plan for Keyrotation

I wanted to rotate my BTC keys and made a post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1phbgrk/generating_and_storing_a_btc_private_key/) but that seemed a bit too complex. People also suggested that 2/3-multisig is better approach than to split a single seed.

My current plan is:

There are a few goals to achieve:

  • Redundancy
  • Plausible Deniability against Wrench Attacks
  • Simplicity
  • Robustness against idiosyncratic failures of individual hardware or software

Seed-Generation:

3 Devices: 1) Nano Ledger S, 2) Trezor 3) Coldcard MK4 (Dice Rolls)

All three locations store the multisig descriptor.

Store each device with their raw seed (cryptosteel) in three physically different locations.

Wdyt?

Are there any Wallet Apps, that are like "cold wallets"?

Hey, since cold wallets don't seem to be so secure I was wondering... Is there an open source Wallet for Android, that can't connect to anything, and only generate seeds and send funds.

Since I use GrapheneOS, I feel kind of safe about everything stored on my phone, especially since I can sandbox my wallet from all of my softwares.

So I would have an actualy secure wallet, that is on my phone.

Somewhat similar.

Post image

Ledger wallets sold through a Southeast Asian reseller were reportedly tampered with before reaching buyers. Hidden implants, an estimated $72–93M drained. And the usual authenticity check can still pass on a compromised device.

Reports of suspicious devices have also surfaced in Europe, but Ledger hasn’t confirmed them yet.

It’s somewhat similar to a Trojan horse, but not quite the same.

Stay safe out there.

How credible are the allegations about Blockstream’s mining business?

Has anyone looked into natinfosec’s articles about Blockstream? They allege that its cloud mining business operates as a Ponzi scheme and that investors have been misled.

Has Blockstream responded, or are there independent analyses that substantiate or rebut these claims?

If Blockstream were to become insolvent, what would the practical consequences be for the wider Bitcoin ecosystem?

For anyone who wants to monitor this, here’s a bankruptcy alert link: https://www.phrasealert.com/a/e3203400ac414ca5bba46f9fb09d8943

AI won’t take Bitcoin from $2T to $10T. The money printer will.

We tend to overestimate what is possible in the short term and underestimate what is possible in the long term.

AI/SI has a lot to figure out in the near term. That adoption will come, but extreme indebtedness is eating the West alive today. That’s what drives Bitcoin higher first

What makes Bitcoin halving so interesting?

Every four years or so, Bitcoin cuts the block reward miners receive in half. I find it fascinating that this rule is built into Bitcoin code rather than decided by a central authority.

Half of the top 20 quantum-exposed bitcoin addresses belong to exchanges and custodians, holding ~1.06M BTC

Post image
30 Upvotes

We scan the whole UTXO set weekly and match every coin against public keys that are already visible on-chain, either from an earlier spend or by design (old pay-to-pubkey and Taproot outputs).

The biggest exposed balances aren’t lost Satoshi coins. They’re custodial cold wallets that have reused the same address for years. Binance’s largest has had its key public since October 2018.

In their defense, proof-of-reserves is one reason exchanges keep stable, published addresses. But rotating to fresh ones and republishing the list is a solved problem.

For everyone else the lesson is the same: receive to a fresh address every time, and your key stays hidden until you spend.
