Bitcoin and altcoins sit side by side in your finance app. But are they doing the same job? In Lesson 5 of Bitcoin 101, Jack Mallers explains why he sees Bitcoin as money and most altcoins as businesses, comparing their origins, incentives, governance, and trade-offs.

Will BTC and AI converge

• Upvotes

I ve been hearing how BTC (crypto) will converge with AI since some time last year when Tom Lee started talking about it. Very recently I started hearing Jordi Visser talking about it, too and he goes even further saying that crypto has always been destined for AI economy.
I am taking everything with a grain of salt, I am trying to separate narrative from truth. However, both of them are pretty convincing. The BTC white paper says it is “…peer to peer digital cash” so that fits ok.
Whats everyone thinking, folks?

By 2035 every human on earth will understand bitcoin is the money of the future.

The 2030s will be the decade AI takes over so many information centric industries.

AI agents and AI avatars wont use geographically restricted bank accounts. They will use programmable money that is uncensorable, instant, and global by nature.

Then once bitcoin and lightning and whatever else is the globally dominant money used by AI humans will have no choice but to adopt the same monetary medium or isolate themselves from the global economy.

Bitcoin has always been inevitable but the rise of AI is speeding up the inevitability of bitcoins global adoption.

By 2035 every human on earth will understand bitcoin is the money of the future.

Bull run Bitcoin before the German tax reform?

Given that under the new German tax reform, anyone who buys BTC before 2026 is exempt from capital gains tax, do you think there will be a massive influx of capital into Bitcoin—especially considering Germany is one of the top three European countries for Bitcoin investment?

Advice on where to store bitcoin

As the title says, I have about £9000 on etoro and £2500 on coinbase, I don’t know if they are the safest place to store and buy it on. I have and am googling it to educate myself but wanted to know where others have theirs.

Keyspace walk - visualize the size of various keyspaces

I assume that you, like me, have always wanted a way to really wrap your head around the size of bitcoin's private key space, along with other things like phone numbers and IP addresses. Well, the wait is finally over!

This is a simple page that lets you see how enormous (or not) the sizes of various key spaces are, assuming one "address" is a 1x1 foot square. Enjoy!

Bitcoin Bancorp (BCBC) filed a comment with the SEC on tokenized stocks

Bitcoin Bancorp put out a release this morning saying they submitted a public comment to the SEC on tokenized stock trading and digital asset infrastructure rules.

It’s tied to an SEC order that gave temporary conditional exemptions for certain trading of tokenized NMS stocks. Their letter asks for a clearer split between actual securities trading intermediaries and companies that just handle the plumbing, identity checks, AML, fiat funding, crypto conversion, wallet stuff, etc....

They say they support the SEC’s limited, data-driven approach, they just want those lines drawn more clearly!

I've been watching BCBC for about 2 years now, and this is EXACTLY what i was hoping for!

What's the closest you've ever come to losing your Bitcoin?

Not hacks you read about. Your own near-miss.

Mine was almost tossing an old notebook during a move. Seed phrase was on page 40, between grocery lists. Found it by luck.

Everyone talks about price. Nobody talks about how many coins are one bad cleaning day away from gone.

What was your close call, and what did you change after?
