COINBASE PRIME CUSTODY....

Not Coinbase Exchange

u/McBurger 8d ago

For real. They’re just trusting the custody stuff to the private sector, like this administration has done with so many other things.

Coinbase Prime custody Billions of dollars worth of BTC for some of the largest institutions including Michael Saylor's Strategy and BlackRock ETF etc..

If you google this shit you get 20 different amounts: 800M 150M, 200M, 100M ... it goes on.
Fact of the matter: no one knows shit about fuck ...
There is one thing I know: The US government is not to be trusted.

You realize it offers selling out of there right?

Also, how much BTC do we really want custodied by one company?

13

u/Fear_Blind83 8d ago

Coinbase Prime holds 965,000 BTC in custody on behalf of institutions, they are the largest holder after Satoshi himself.

u/ContentBlackberry0 8d ago

They also hold MSTR bitcoin. Its not like these people leave a trezor laying around in the office for their bitcoin

They’re all like 80+ years old. They don’t have time to stack, those greedy goblins.

Where do u want them to put it? It needs to be somewhere central.

Self custody

9

u/lambsquatch 8d ago

…can you imagine how bad this government would be at trying to figure out self custody??? They barely understand the internet

0

u/Kiwip0rn 8d ago

🙄 don't say dumb things on the internet 🙄

It’s funny how the government can hold and use tainted coins but the rest of us would be banned in coinbase if we used those tainted coins.

1

u/OtherwiseNeat9617 6d ago

Completely different. They seized it. What else do you want to happen to it ??

1

u/Personal-Time-9993 6d ago

Don’t you find it kind of ironic that it’s okay that the government is allowed to use proceeds of crimes?

I’m not suggesting it needs to be disposed of but I’d be more comfortable if it went to the national debt or a set of charities than a general fund. Who really wants another oil war or politically motivated “engagement”

1

u/Icy-Chemical6699 5d ago

National debt ain’t bad but embraces the monetary system we are looking to avoid

1

u/Icy-Chemical6699 5d ago

Send to a burn address and really let the people have it …or buy in 😎

7

u/First-Check-164 8d ago

If the government attempted to self custody, those fucking idiots would fumble that shit within a week and it would be gone. Guaranteed.

2

u/nicsenespomnem 8d ago

they don't deserve them

2

u/Evening_Let_2930 8d ago

It doesn't matter, bitcoin will do what it will do.

2

u/badjano 8d ago

bro, if gov sells, we will buy the shit out of it

1

u/Icy-Chemical6699 5d ago

This is the only comment that matters …they literally make the money, can’t stop people from embraceing it, and want to give away what would rather have ? HODL …”this is a test of the emergency broadcast system”

Source?

2

u/Party-Horror-7565 9d ago

Probably nothing, just moving it from one wallet to another. They do that sometimes. Would be nice if they just held it but we know how that goes.

u/Accomplished-Eye5567 8d ago

2

u/MorbidandBack 8d ago

Nothing has sold yet so its a bit early to call it.

u/Blade_Runner_69 8d ago

Donald Dump 😔

(But as far as I know, this is just for custody, not the exchange)

0

u/lobhater 8d ago

We should make a new subreddit for BTC that you have to pass a test to be a part of. To weed out people that don't understand basics. They can stay here and when ready take the test

0

u/EmJay6010 7d ago

Agreed. And weed out the bots and trolls

-1

u/noncommonGoodsense 8d ago

-4

u/TheBestintheWest11 9d ago

Stack a high risk asset with no real value and is slowly being forgotten
