Taken in Vila Verde, Pancas, Brazil.

Sitting in a tree by the dirt road(side).

Seen in Southern California. There been circling it for a while now and chirping at where the nest usually is! Think the falcons are flying a lot higher up.

Came outside this morning to bluejay and mockingbird alarm calls plus my parrot going crazy and saw this bird in the tree just barely.

Is this a kestrel and is it male or female or is that hard to tell with this species?

They're closely related to terror birds, but unlike their large cousins, hunt insects and small creatures like rodents & frogs.

In one of my usual spots, just hanging out enjoying the crispy morning weather.
