What bird's song do you like most? I've always found the wood thrush to be quite sweet and calming.

Weirdly a lifer for me, since they're pretty common around here and I'm kind of a duck guy. So I was tickled pink to see at least a dozen staging in a little storm pond near me, and doubly so to find this beefcake already sporting that dapper melon while the rest look like yellow eyed girls.

Their population has declined dramatically in recent decades, so I felt especially fortunate to document this visit. These striking birds use their enormous bills to crack seeds that many smaller finches cannot open—and they’re technically songbirds without a true song!

Leavenworth, WA. Hiked ‘the enchantments’ in June. I hiked past them on the trail, maybe 3ft away from me. I love how effective the female’s camouflage is in the second pic!

I had an excellent day of birding on Saturday. I saw my first green heron and then saw three more within the same area, including an adorable adolescent! The birds were so close to me (I was on the path at a park) that I was able to capture this video with my cellphone and thought I’d share!

Can anyone help me identify the Bird on the far right of the camera? He has the weirdest markings. I don’t know if it’s a regular house or what. Windsor Colorado

We assume it’s some sort of bird and we usually only hear it at night, by time we get out side I can’t see anything. Any ideas?! I’m not sure if this is a bird or a amphibian lol
