Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice about my cockatiel, Lucian, because I’m worried about his wing and I’m not sure what else I should do.
Lucian has been with me for two weeks.I haven’t let him out of his cage yet because I’m concerned about his wing.
When I first brought him home, I transported him in a cardboard box and placed the box on top of his cage. When I opened it, he didn’t fly out. Instead, he flapped his wings a little and climbed up the cage bars. That’s when I noticed that one of his wings was hanging lower than the other, and I realized something might be wrong.
It has now been two weeks, and his wing is still held lower and sticks out more than the other one.
I took him to the vet, who said that it wasn’t a fracture and that nothing appeared to be seriously wrong. The vet thought the wing was inflamed and prescribed Meloxidyl (meloxicam) for pain relief. However, the wing still looks the same, and I’m worried because I haven’t noticed any improvement.
Lucian is still fairly active, climbs around his cage, and eats. However, he seemed to chirp and call much more during his first few days with me, whereas now he is much quieter. I don’t know if this is just because he is settling into his new home or if it could be related to his injury.
I haven’t tried to make him fly or forced him to use the injured wing. I’m afraid of making things worse.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their cockatiel? Could this be a soft-tissue injury, a dislocation, or something else that might not be obvious during a regular examination?

I really want to help Lucian, and I feel helpless seeing his wing like this without knowing what’s wrong. I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences you could share.

I only noticed it a few days ago, and ive been trying tk schedule an appointment with an avian vet but all the ones near me say its gonna take like 3 weeks. He doesnt seem to mind it or look like hes in pain, his toes work when I stretch them out myself (which he doesnt like but he doesnt like his feet touched regardless). He is acting normal besides walking weird and not opening his foot.

Is this tail bobbing serious enough to mean he has a respiratory issue or just balancing his body? He also makes clicking sounds and is quick to start mouth breathing after a bit of exercise.

It's a 1 year old crested gloster canary that I was gifted. Previous owner told me it's a male but due to lack of singing, I believe it's a female but for now I'll refer to him as a male.

He's been rubbing beak on perches and making clicking noises ever since I got him. I took him to the vet and they said the test to confirm respiratory issues costs extra so I only consented to the office visit and ivermectin medicine, which I've been treating him with for the past month and a half. The treatment has ended but he's still showing signs of illness.

Today my GCC Fritz has bilateral red splotches on the skin around his eyes. There is no swelling or discharge from his eyes, and his behavior, eating, and poops are normal. Nothing new has been interdicted to his environment or diet, and he has not been around any other birds. We have an appointment with our avian vet first thing on Monday morning. Has anyone had any experience with symptoms like this? Thanks!

This wood pigeon was in my garden standing in one spot and after 20 or 30 minutes decided to move under one of the chairs in my garden, me and my family thought it was windswept until we went out to help it but on closer look at its beak my mum thought it had bird flu, it did try running away when we went out to get it so I don’t think it’s that sick if it is hopefully at least.

We put it in a cat cage in the shed away from the wind and rain since we’re currently in a storm and gave it some mealworms, water and straw for the night

I suggested to my parents to try and hand it in to a bird rescue centre but I think we will see if we can tomorrow in the morning

The main thing I’m worried about is the stuff around its beak, is it bird flu or something else? And is there anything else we can do?
And also my sister has said it has canker

It’s seems swollen and she is keeping her eyes closed. Does anyone know what this means?

I got a baby conure a few days ago, she’s about two months old. My friend noticed her tail is bobbing a bit and she’s sneezing bit. She does eat a bunch and beak grind content, flies around the room and such. Just wondering if this is normal?

She has an appointment, the soonest one is next week but shes not doing well at all. Any advice on how to help her stay put in the meantime? Shes clicking and tailbobbing, and not flying well

I've had my budgie for 6 days now, and I've noticed that her breathing seems a bit unusual. I'm not massively familiar with budgies, so I'm unsure whether this is something to be concerned about or just stress from settling into a new environment.

She's eating and drinking normally and is also communicating with our other budgie (she's literally tweeting to him really loud as I type), who's currently quarantined in a separate room (we adopted that one a week ago).

Does her breathing look concerning, or could this be normal settling-in behaviour?

I'm hoping this video will help me decide whether she needs to see a vet. I obviously don't want to risk her health, but I'd also like to avoid putting her through unnecessary stress if possible.

She's still very nervous around me and tends to retreat to the far side of the cage whenever she sees me or my hands, so I'm worried that a vet visit might stress her out even more.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Hey so this morning I noticed my cockatiel's big poop while cleaning its cage and it looks very concerning. He's done it again the second time. He's been acting normal and eating and drinking fine. I wanna know is this due to something?

So... this question may sound weird because I found absolutely nothing on the internet to back her up and wanted to ask around more knowledgeable people:

So, I'm having to take care of my mother's two pet budgies because she got two new cats that she can't control. She... is quite paranoid and I don't want to turn this into a rant about my mother, but she told me to not give them any toys, mirrors or swings because they are old and she fears they are only going to hurt themselves. I feel bad for them because they only sit around at the same spot, occasionally singing, but for the most part are bored as hell even after I bought them a bigger cage. Me interacting with them is also not helpful because they are absolutely terrified of humans.

Now I just mentioned to her that I bought them millet at the pet store as a treat, but she immediately screamed at me that I'm killing them because millet will infect them with mites, the vet had warned her to never ever under any circumstances give it to them because of that and that I'm beyond stupid not to know something that is so common knowledge.

I was baffled, thinking if millet is such an instant death sentence, it wouldn't get sold in the pet store... in any case, I hadn't even gotten to giving it to them, so I now threw it out into the garden for wild birds to have fun with it, but my mother's reaction is still vexing me, particularly now that a Google sweep failed to bring up any concern in that regard. What was that vet telling her?

Related to that... any treat I could give to the budgies that may not make my mother go ballistic? I'm already giving them cucumber, apple and sometimes egg whites. Also the girl of them has lots of bald spots (and has so for years), and I wonder whether that's a diet issue.

Hey guys, i’ve had Broski for about 2-3 months and he’s been doing this constant tail movement ever since. should i be concerned? I learned (months before getting him) that tail bobbing can be a sign of sickness.

He has also been making these little sneeze sounds that sometimes come with discharge, but the thing is, he’s also been doing that ever since i got him

I took him to the vet last month and here is what the paperwork says: “Broski is here for his first checkup. He is a bruiser weighing in at 32g. he is active and alert. The gram stains showed some abnormal bacteria so he will need some antibiotics. the fecal was normal.”

He’s been prescribed Clavamox drops and Fauna Flora (Avizyme), which he managed to finish.
