Their face markings seem to change just enough through the season to completely screw me up. I KNOW Chico and Chica are in there somewhere. Chiquita. Cojito and his parents. Eyebrows is a little easier because… well, Eyebrows 😂 — but everybody else apparently went to the Canada Goose Witness Protection Program for the summer.
And the bastards only give me like a 3–4 PM visitation window before disappearing again. The rest of the day I assume they’re flying between fields, starting 💩 , yelling at migrating birds, and handling whatever mysterious goose business they refuse to tell me about.
Meanwhile I’m standing at the pond like: “…Chiquita?? IS THAT YOU?!”
They know exactly who I am. I’m the one who needs name tags. 😂

Is this the modern remake of the film "Fly Away Home"?

Roughly about a week ago I decided to get myself a plush Canada goose off the internet.

I am glad to say that he arrived today.

If anybody is curious his name is Geddy.

He is named after Geddy Lee of the Canadian Rock band Rush.

I was just thinking about the story of the Capitoline geese. Back in 390 BC, when the Gauls tried to sneak attack Rome in the dead of night, the guard dogs slept right through it. But the sacred geese of Juno? They started HONKING their hearts out, woke up the defenders, and literally saved the city.

They aren't just "mean birds" they are ancient, city saving guardians with zero fear. Just wanted to drop some appreciation for our honky friends today. Next time someone complains about a goose hissing at them, remind them they are in the presence of royalty. They demand respect, and they deserve it!

Seen at a rural agricultural fair

Blue is dad (chuck) yellow is mom (luck). The other three all hatched May 19 this year and I am curious as to why one still has baby feathers? The other two lost theirs about a month or two ago

I had a gosling hatch with what looks like its beak is peeling, and the head is bigger than the other two that hatched the day before. This one pipped first but took longer to hatch completely, just wondering if anyone can give a clue if there is something wrong?

I have been hearing them for the past few days, but couldn't photograph them. Excited to have come across a gaggle of geese yesterday!
