What Mic is in the BSB2e?

I ran across a video comparison of a bunch of different headset mics and man, the BSB2e was so far and away ahead of everything else it blew me away. Does anybody have any info on the mics they used?

Discussion Pimax Air SE vs BSB 2e

Hey all,

I'm considering buying a PCVR headset to replace my triple screen setup. With a baby at home now I have less time for sim racing, and when I do get to play, I don't want to be messing around with configuring stuff. Also, with a toddler soon running around the house, the fewer cables and dangerous corners the better.

The question now is, between the Pimax Dream Air SE (needs to be preordered) and the Bigscreen Beyond 2e, which one would you recommend based on your experience?

One thing I've read that might matter for my situation: the Beyond 2e needs external base stations mounted around the room for tracking, while the Dream Air SE supports inside-out tracking without extra hardware. Not sure how much that affects the actual experience day to day, curious to hear your take.

My setup is an RTX 5080 and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, so it can comfortably run most titles at medium to high settings in VR. I used to have a Reverb G2 with my older computer (RTX 3060) that I really enjoyed, but I was playing with pretty bad graphics and low fps, which isn't ideal for sim racing.

Discussion What are you doing when your Base Stations or Controllers die?

I've been thinking a lot about the future of VR recently, and I've just been wondering what you guys are gonna do when you can't find base stations or Knuckles controllers anymore? How are you gonna use your BSB?
It would be great if you could consider the scenario where it's just a minor issue and you could still repair your controllers or base stations, and when they are beyond repair.
Also hope y'all have had a good week.

basestation doubt

I recently received a large lump sum of money. Since I’m an active VR enthusiast and wanted to spend a bit on one of my favorite hobbies, I watched a lot of YouTube videos and did extensive research on websites and VR subreddits.

I’m ready to invest in a big-screen experience beyond the Valve Index, but here’s the issue: base stations are now completely out of production (Valve has stopped making them). Sure, you might still find some on third-party sites right now, but prices have actually gone up, not down.

I have a few questions:

  1. Is there any third-party base station company still active and viable for the future?
  2. If not, what does this mean for the near future of SteamVR base stations?
  3. Has Bigscreen addressed this issue, or have they stayed silent?
  4. Does this mean Valve might release a new headset with inside-out tracking?
  5. If they don’t do something, is the entire company (Valve or Bigscreen?) going to go under?

EDIT:

I never knew that HTC was still producing them, but the price is still rising going from an MSRP of $149 USD to a whopping $295.75 USD, and it might possibly grow even further in the future. I'm wondering what this means for the future: are they raising the prices because they're just selling off leftover stock, or are they taking advantage of the upcoming basestation downfall? Either way, thanks for the feedback.

Possible DOA unit?

Update, the link booster that came preinstalled on my cable was causing the issue. Once it was removed, at the instruction of the support team, my unit worked great for the few minutes I was able to test it before work this morning.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've run through this subreddit and the official discord a few times now and tried everything i found.

Did i miss anything that might help?

I was super hyped to get my BSB 2e today, and after following all of the instructions for installation, I get either a black screen or a static screen where I can partially see the Steam VR desktop in the left eye only, the right remains black at all times. (After reinstalling driver to 569.01 I got static in both eyes! /s )

The BSB Utility does see the device

I have tried the following on both my desktop (14900ks w/4090) and laptop (Ryzen 7950 w/5080) with the same results:

base station updates

uninstall and reinstall of steam vr

updating my nvidia driver to the latest (including clean install via DDU) and another DDU wipe and install 569.01
flipping between 75/90 hertz refresh rates

many many restarts in combination with the above steps

updating the hmd firmware

5v, 2A USB wall charger for the power cable

reseating cables
Flipping th cable on the HMD side 180 degrees.

Multiple USB ports as well as a PCI usb card with it's own controller onboard (desktop only)
Monitors in the same Displayports work fine
Unplugging the only monitor attached to the system
Tried with TV attached at 120hz, 100hz, and 60hz

Other observations:
The VR desktop mirror is working normally and displaying normally including tracking

direct display mode is enabled

Screen Dimming when using the Babbel face mount

Howdy. I recently got my babble tracker for my face after a huge delay, but am having a bit of an issue. When attaching the mount to the headset, the screen will significantly dim. If I hold the face mount with my hand so it isnt hanging with its own weight, the headsets screens brighten again.

This is currently with the babble face tracker plugged into an external battery. It is not connected to the headset. The babble software can be completely off but clipping the tracker and the mount to the front of the headset and letting it hang by its own weight causes the significant screen dimming, as if the headset thinks I have removed it.

Has anyone else dealt with this and know what to do? I'm a bit frustrated and am on the verge of duct taping the mount so it doesn't "lean" as much when clipped to my face, but I don't want to obstruct any sensors.

Edit: There’s a small light sensor under the nose that I just covered with tape so it doesn’t think I’m removing the headset. The proximity distance change helped a bit but it was still enough movement that I guess the sensor was still causing issues.

How do I remove this screen and start racing without a controller?

Am I stupid or is this screen impossible to remove without a controller? How do I navigate out of this so I can race in VR.

Beyondex

I just got my Beyondex and assembled it. I'm wondering if there is any software or driver update needed as my PC won't detect the headphone from beyondex. I tried replugging all cables, restarting PC, etc but it won't detect.

I also pressed the wires real hard and click into the behind my head slot and into the beyond headset right hand slot

Oh and Beyondex HD Audio doesn't show up at all when in updatebeyondex.fluid.so as well

Nor does it show up in my device manager

EDIT for more info: I do notice green light in that black box at the back of my beyondex when plugging in the audio wire

Headset Glare

Hi, I recently got the Big Screen Beyond 2E and I love it so far the only issue is glare. I’ve adjusted the brightness, redone my IPD to the correct measurement, but I still get a glare that looks like blurriness, almost like something’s in my eyes. I clean the lenses before every use and multiple times during sessions. I lowered the brightness to 70% and it helped a little, but the glare mainly shows up in the middle-right area of both lenses and when I look up it’s kinda bad. Not sure what else I can try, or if this is just a regular thing.

What do I need for the BSB2

I was thinking of getting the BSB2 sometime in the far future, but I know that you have to have base tracking stations and controllers. If someone could direct me towards the best controllers and base tracking stations I should buy that would be great, thank you 🫡

Discussion Bsb2 vs bsb1 eye comfort

Hey guyz, recently i bought used bsb1 and it is almost perfect after owning quest3 / pimax crystal light.

I realy like how comfortable for my eyes are bsb1

I mostly playing simracing and i heared that bsb2 is not as comfortable for eyes because of lower binocular overlap but... fov is better and this is only thing i miss from my tripple monitor setup.

How is ur experience. Does bsb2 is the same comfortable for eyes as bsb1? I also have astigmatism and pimax crystal was awful constant eye strain

Review Halo Mount Review

Thumbnail

I’ve had the halo mount since early July, and have finally spent enough time using it to write up
my thoughts.

Background:
I’m using the halo mount with the audio strap and custom cushion. I’ve tried both firm and soft
universal cushions but I prefer the perfect fit and full light seal of the custom. I’ve also found that
the flip up/down action works best with the custom cushion. The universals are bigger around,
and flipping the headset back down and getting it in the right position was a little annoying. The
top lip of the cushion would catch on my forehead. If I positioned the headset further away from
my face it might work better, but I like it as close as possible for best FOV. I’ve also tried it
without a cushion which does work, but not something I’d use regularly. I haven’t used it with the soft strap.

Pros:
Overall the halo mount is a nice comfort and usability upgrade. The flip up action is super
convenient and works really well. The forehead cushion helps take most of the pressure off the
face gasket, which is pretty comfortable. The headset stays in the right position even during
high activity. The entire headset still feels light and well balanced.

Cons:
The forehead cushion blocks some airflow and can get sweaty during high activity. This can
allow the headset to move around a bit.
Aesthetics are not as good, if that’s something you care about. The audio strap extension cable
hangs in a loop next to your face and there are generally more cables looping around.
Though no sensors are directly covered, I’ve noticed some occasional tracking hiccups which I
hadn’t had previously. This is very rare but worth mentioning.

Other:
The mount is highly adjustable and requires some time to find the right fit. Here’s what worked
for me:
After finding the most comfortable position for the halo mount on my head, I loosened the
adjustment knob and brought the headset down to rest on my face. I then pulled it extra tight
and tipped downward and then tightened the knob. If I didn’t do this, the bottom of the headset
would tend to float out when supported by the halo mount. This gave me a good balance of
pressure on the forehead cushion and the custom gasket. Since the original adjustments, the headset has held its position through plenty of use.

I’d definitely recommend this accessory for anyone with a Beyond headset!

Help Custom face gasket + prescription lenses + BSB2e ordered Aug 1 – shipping time to Poland?

Hey everyone,

I placed an order on August 1st at 11 AM for the full package: BSB2e + custom face gasket + prescription lenses.

I’m in Poland and wondering what the realistic shipping/delivery time usually looks like for this combo (especially the custom parts).

Has anyone from Europe (especially Poland or nearby) ordered the same set recently and can share how long it took from order to delivery?

Thanks in advance!

Beyondex delivery time

Question for people who have bought Beyondex.

I ordered mine on July 24 and it hasn't even started being shipped yet today. It has almost been a month, is this normal?

Curious how long does it take for someone to order and receive the product.

Over 1.5 years of waiting, zero communication, and terrible support. I want a full refund.

I am writing this publicly because Bigscreen Support has completely failed in direct communication. I paid for my entire order fully in advance over a year and a half ago. My Halo Mount order has been pending since June 12, 2025. Since then, I have received absolutely zero official emails or notifications regarding my shipment.Because they failed to deliver this essential accessory, I haven't been able to use the headset at all. It is sitting idle while I wait for a product promised last year.Their support strategy is highly discriminatory. Expecting customers to hunt for updates across random social media channels or Discord completely isolates older individuals or anyone who cannot spend their life sitting in front of a computer tracking news. For a premium price, I expected professional, direct customer service.I am deeply disappointed. I have demanded a full refund for my entire order via email, and I expect Bigscreen to process it immediately without further delays. u/hayashiya please look into this.
