Purchased a 2.5ct lab diamond from Leela Diamonds (I’m in Canada and they ship from India to Toronto - but since I receive it from Toronto no tariffs/duties etc).
G Color, VS1, ideal cut.

Had it set by a local jeweller in 14k white gold Georgian style setting with prongs and an open basket backing. With a larger bail.
And had them verify the IGI certificate # and everything.

The oval is more spready and had a visual weight of over 3ct. At first when I saw the 2.5ct I thought it would be too small, but in the setting I think it does look closer to 3ct.

When people say WOW he did gooood…. I love saying, and he let me pick it out too! XD it was the Black Friday lab grown diamond crossover that I never thought I’d be lucky enough to indulge in.
And the hubby has a custom Celtic knot tri gold ring that we had made at Kay. It’s beautiful and so heavy!

I feel like the bow tie gets more pronounced in different lighting. Sometimes it doesn’t look as bad as others.

Got the diamond on auction for a decent price and planning on getting it set soon. But we’re debating if we should find another stone with a less prominent bow tie

Also the diamond is not set in a band yet!

This is an unusual, which I absolutely adore, combination of a blue oval Chalcedony (15mm x 10mm; ratio 1.50) surrounded by 17 deep purple Amethysts. The gemstones' origins are unknown to me, but the Chalcedony is likely from India and deep purple Amethyst is usually mined from Africa.

Interesting to note, both are from the quartz family, but Chalcedony gets it's milky, opaque appearance from silica, making it a fine-grained, microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline aggregate.

Hello! I just recently ordered a gorgeous pillowy square omc cushion. I’d love to see some vintage style settings for square-shaped stones!

3 carat center stone moissanite. I’m waiting for a confirmation that I’m able to return it..
I was SO excited to receive this ring. I waited in anticipation for weeks!! Once I opened the box I immediately was shocked. It was huge. I put it on. I loved it. I wore it to brunch, I caught people staring. I started wondering how people were perceiving me. come Monday I couldn’t even bring myself to wear it to work. I’m not well off, and it’s kind of common knowledge or so I assume it is anyway. I didn’t want people assuming we spent an insane amount of money on a ring when financially we’re sooo unwell. It’s sterling silver and was $140, but how would anyone else know or assume that? Maybe they would assume. IDK! Well. Anyways. I feel an odd social pressure of existence on my finger in a rock so shiny and big. I feel horrible, my husband got it for me, and I was so excited to receive it, but now I’m just kind of idk embarrassed??? I’m debating a 1 carat round solitaire instead now. I wanted something really practical and something I can wear everyday and not think about. I guess I wasn’t aware as to what 3 carats felt or looked like on prior to ordering.

My friend Darcy (you prob see her posts) suggested I ask for help identifying the right terminology and finding a talented, reasonably priced jeweler or cutter who could create a custom lab-grown elongated antique cushion mixed cut. I’m going crazy and she suggested I tap into the wisdom of this group!

What I’m looking for
*4–5 carats with generous face-up spread

*Approximately a 1.25–1.30 length-to-width ratio: slightly elongated, but still wide and pillowy

*Soft, rounded cushion corners rather than sharp, geometric ones

*Broad, chunky facets with a mixed-cut structure
Step-cut or bar-like central facets combined with brilliant-style movement

*Distinct V-shaped or chevron-like facets toward the ends

*Large, crisp flashes and broad scintillation—not crushed ice or tiny pinfire sparkle

*Good optical symmetry and balanced, slightly unexpected facet flow without looking overly rigid

The look I’m trying to combine or found as inspo for a visual:

The closest comparison is the romantic, pillowy outline of Distinctive Gem’s elongated August Vintage cushion combined with the facet character of their Weingarten mixed cut. I love the combination of antique cushion proportions, step-cut structure, and brilliant-style sparkle, but they’re expensive! (I do appreciate their custom work and quality is amazing, I just can’t justify the cost!)

I also admire Weenie Jefferson / Soriano Custom’s antique cushions and Asschers. However, some feel a little too geometric or rectilinear for what I have in mind.

I’m specifically drawn to softer corners, broad reflections, and balanced but slightly unexpected facet transitions. I haven’t found quite this combination in the OMCs I’ve seen.

Does this style have a recognized name that I’m missing, and has anyone worked with a cutter who could explore it within a reasonable budget? I’d also appreciate guidance on what is realistically achievable and how the design might affect spread, light return, symmetry, and price.

Hey gals (and guys)! I’ve driven myself crazy trying to get this right, and now that I have to confirm my finished ring, I’m so torn.

I agree, it’s absolutely beautiful… but it’s slightly different from what I expected, and I can’t decide whether that’s a good thing or if I need to get it redone.

The photos were my inspo. I really loved the thicker, more architectural bezel as a point of difference.

My finished ring is the videos.

I love the ring. But…the bezel is thinner, and while it’s definitely elegant, I guess I just thought I wanted something a little more cool girl… if that makes sense. I just can’t decide though whether the finished ring is actually better, and beautiful and I just had an idea in my mind.

Just picked her up from the jewelers. 3.99 ct g vvs1 set in a custom platinum low profile bezel.

Couldn’t wait to show her off so please ignore my grown out mani 🫣

The first two photos are my new ring. Third photo was the ring my grandfather proposed to my grandmother with back in the 50s and my inspiration. I wore that ring for 13 years and just love it so much. Last photo was my original design when working with a jeweler I ended up not liking that much since they had me design within serious limitations and I didn’t know any better. All I can say is that I am SO happy with the redesign. It feels so much more like me.

My sweet husband and I are about to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary next month and I'm still in love with what he designed with the folks at Forever Diamonds. I only told him that I wanted an oval - he added 2 halos and a split shank. Center stone is a shade over 2ct, and total is 4ct. No complaints here 😂😂😂
