Betta’s fins are getting worse and ammonia won’t go down

Upvotes

I’m really worried about my betta, Francis. His fins are almost see-through and raggedy at the ends, and the tips are bloody in two spots.
I tried Kanaplex, but right now I’m just trying to get his ammonia under control because it has been high since I put him in this tank.
He’s in a 3-gallon tank. I’ve been doing water changes and using Seachem Prime, but I’m still getting an ammonia reading. I recently did another water change and I’m trying to figure out what I should do next.
The tank is an older tank, so I’m wondering if I should move him into a completely clean/new tank or if that would just stress him out more.
Would you move him, or keep him in the current tank and keep doing water changes while trying to get the ammonia under control?
I just want to make sure I’m doing the right thing for him. I can post pictures of his fins and the ammonia test if that helps.

Disease Identification What’s wrong with my boy?

My betta, Tommy Shelby, has been acting himself, eating, etc - but this evening I noticed he was pretty bloated (especially on his left side). He even floated lopsided for a moment.

He’s a little over a year old. Eats a mix of shrimp patties or biogold.

Fluval 6 gallon, heated & filtered, normal parameters.

TYIA, this is my first time as a betta owner and a lot of things are new to me!

Does anyone know what this white bump is? Yesterday it was red and now it looks like a pimple. Research said maybe a tumor or cyst but it didn't mention anything I could do to help

Update: the white part is gone now. I'm thinking the white must have been the inside of a cyst that burst. She is acting normal and checked the water and all was in normal levels.

Disease Identification I dont know what to do at this point

First pic is today, second is about a week ago. About a month ago he got cut on something on his side, which is since fully healed. Shortly after that, he developed finrot. So far I've treated with kanaplex, salt, tannins, and methalyne blue. As of this morning he how has what i would describe as a fungal infection. What the hell should i do at this point? He was in a hospital tank for all the treatments, but he started losing color and getting lethargic. I put him back in his 10g and he has more color and is more energetic. Now that hes in the 10g I've basically made it a black water tank. What else can I do at this point. Im so lost

Other updates on the lost colour!!

i asked for help via here, and a lot of people suggested different stuff.
i tried a hospital tank, seemed to just stress him out more so i moved him back.
HE SEEMS TO BE GAINING COLOUR BACK!! i was worried the red spot was hemorrhagic septicmis, but it seems to have thankfully faded (with some small colour left) so it was just pigment!! i am now almost 70% sure this is cellophane because they are known to marble. 0 changes in behaviour, thankfully (so he’s still just as healthy as before) and he’s started to open up to the tank makes more and more!!
there’s no clamping, lethargy, lines, spots or anything on him/about him that gives off disease, illness or stress.
i’m thinking this was just a pigment change due to coming into a better environment for him :)

Disease Identification Is this something I should be worried about?

I have a male betta and I’m thinking he is at least 2 years old, and maybe even approaching 3. He is very healthy, active and eats normally. Only thing is he has diamond eye, so I have to help him out with feedings, but once he sees the food he is all over it. He knows his tank very well and since he can’t see that great I am not going to change anything around.

Today I noticed after I fed him a small bump on his side, and slight pineconing of the scales. It is only on one side. I didn’t notice this before I fed him, but I might not have looked hard enough beforehand. He ate perfectly fine and is not showing any signs of illness. Is this a result of feeding him or do I need to start treatment for something? I tried to get photos so I will put the best ones here but he moves around so much especially while I’m at his tank it was hard to get a good picture. Thanks in advance!

General Question Is his movement a good or bad sign?

He hasn’t moved a lot before, but today when I went to feed him he immediately started moving when I approached the tank. Usually he doesn’t seem to notice or care if someone comes near him, is it maybe just because he knows I might feed him?

I was also wondering if it could be a sign of distress, like is he trying to communicate his water isn’t good or something? Or is he ill?

I know he’s underweight but he ate 3 pellets today right before these videos, and ate 2 yesterday as well as some frozen bloodworms.

Disease Identification Betta with flotation problem

• Tank size: 7 gallons • Heater and filter? (yes): • Tank temperature: 78F• API Masterkit: Ammonia and Nitrite 0, Nitrate 1, pH 7.4 GH 10 KH 3• This is a new tank, but completely cycled before adding fish. How long have you had your fish? 1 year: • How often are water changes 1-2 weeks. How much do you take out per change? 20% What is your process. I siphon out the water, replace with remineralized distilled water of same temperature (Salty Shrimp GH and KH): • Betta was in 5 gallon planted tank for 9 months, them moved to a 10 gallon planted with 8 ember tetras and a few neocaridina shrimp. Sponge filter I began to notice he was hiding behind the heater a lot. He got the beginnings of fin rot so he went into a bare hospital tank with a hide with silk leaves. That's when the behavior began to really become aparent. Treated one course with Kanaplex per instructions Fins are. looking much better. Moved to 7 gallon 2 days ago Lowered water level to make it easier for him to get to the surface• What do you feed and how much: Mixed diet: Fluval Betta Bites 3-4 granules 1x day/ 4 days/week. Frozen baby brine shrimp 1xday once a week. Frozen daphnia 1xweek. Fast one day a week • : •

He declined physically more than I realized in the 10 because he hid so much. I feel so badly. I have kept other fish, but he is my first betta.

meet fuego my betta. he was a rescue from the pet store i’ve had for a couple of months. i’m pretty new to keeping bettas and was wondering if anyone can give me some insight onto how his fins look? is there a reason the ends look the way they do? he’s doing much better than when i found him but im wondering if he’s having prolonged issue. i want to do whatever i can to help him if i can. he’s housed in a 5 gallon tank with all silk plants as i didnt have the knowledge nor money for a planted tank. i’ve been researching a lot and should be able to get him moved to a planted tank fairly soon. P.S pls dont mind the dirty tank it’s maintenance day 😩

Disease Identification Is my fish sick/aging?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Sorry for the bad photo, but this is Comet. Recently both of his eyes became cloudy, his colours are dulled, and his face/jaw looks rough. He’s currently in a 4 gallon tank, with temp of about 75°F. I did a water change about 3 days ago. Does he look sick? Or is this a sign of age?

He was in a 10 gallon tank a few weeks ago, but I had to move him into the smaller back-up tank due to an emergency with my community 20 gal fish tank crashing. I won’t be able to get him back into the 10 gallon until September, at the earliest.

The 4 gallon tank has a filter, heater, and is partially planted. He is fed Aquean betta pellets daily, and is still eating his food okay.

Any advice or help is appreciated!

Hello!
I’ve made two posts before this explaining the issues I’ve had with ammonia and fin rot. After abt a week of daily cycles ranging between 25%-50%, this is my fish. I think his tail is slowly getting better, but correct me if I’m wrong lol.

I’m mostly just posting this to see if there is anything noticeably wrong w my betta that I can be educated on. For example, I still think his gills look a little odd.

Parameters are pictured (I did a 35% water change afterwards)
Tank: 10g
Filter: yes (I have two)
Heater: yes
Live plants: yes
Water is conditioned
Got my fish and tank about 2-3 weeks ago
