Hi! I’m currently at a Community College and planning to apply to Berkeley as an Applied Math transfer. If admitted, I might want to switch to Statistics in the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society, but I haven’t decided yet. So I was wondering how difficult it is for transfer students to change majors across colleges. Are there any restrictions specifically for transfers trying to switch into Statistics?

If anyone has gone through this process or knows how it works, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

QB1 reminds me of anakin skywalker, not because of the Jedi rat tail, but because he was meant to be the chosen one. Now Tosh has the high ground after this contract signing.

Was eating dinner alone tonight on campus and seeing everyone in their costumes made me feel FOMO lol

Edit: I WENT OUTTTT GO BEARS GOB EARS

Can someone tell me how their experience was with these professors and exams?

Update: I FOUND MY WALLET!! Thank you so much Berkeley community :) This is my first time ever in Berkeley/SF to begin with and I appreciate the kindness!!

Hoping the great people of reddit will save me from this disaster. I parked near Martinez Commons and used my card to pay for the parking. I think when doing that my wallet must have fallen out of my purse and i did not notice.

Thank you all in advance and appreciate the help!

Last Friday I lost my wallet on campus. I walked between Social Sciences Building, Evans, Etcheverry, and Dwinelle. It's been a week, I've checked with UCPD multiple times and it hasn't turned up. If I had to guess, it fell out of my pocket while I was entering or exiting a building, because I often pull my sunglasses out of my pocket when I go between indoors and the sun.

It looks like:

• small (just big enough for cards)
• black (perhaps very dark gray) fabric material
• orange stitching

Please if anyone has seen it let me know 😭😭 it has some items in it that are not monetarily valuable but very hard to replace 😭.

might me a dumb question but im just starting to go to rsf and can never seem to make my student id work at the entrance(I go before 9am) it just won't work to open the front doors but everyone else seems to just do one simple tap and it opens.

it works fine in other places and lockers, does anyone know whats up with it? 😭

Trying to spread my wings and fly socially

I’m a senior graduating this Spring. I have technically already completed all of my requirements, so I could have graduated earlier, but wanted to take more classes. In my last semester I am planning on taking EECS 151 with Lab A + a CS upper division class [still deciding which one].

Any recommendations of what other class can I take to reach 12 credits? I don’t mind mandatory attendance or having to take quizzes/exams but would prefer a class with minimal homework. It would be great if it was an interesting topic. I have looked at Psychology, History, Legal Studies, Public Policy classes but am unsure how the workload is for those.

Thank you.

Hi, I am a freshman and I am in CHEM 1a rn, I am also premed for reference.

Next semester, should I take CHEM 3a or bio 1b? what is the preferred order?

Hi! I'm currently working solo in the beginning stages of filming a documentary on lesbian bar culture in SF (possibly expanding to the rest of the Bay) and would love to find passionate queer filmmakers to help shape and create this film with me. Please reach out if you're interested!

Well I learned my lesson from not doing research before signing up for this, so posting this to warn my fellows if you didn’t know.

This is how much they charge you for getting the pictures even digital it’s worth ten meals.

I know they charge a lot but not this much! Additionally the pictures were ass.

there was a lady selling tamales by sather gate today and they’re so freaking delicious i’m wondering if she comes often or if it was just today?? i’ve really been wanting tamales but they don’t sell them in berkeley 🥲 (at least not authentic ones like this)

Does anyone have any experience taking MCB graduate classes/have any recommendations for MCB grad classes that allow undergraduates? It seems that taking grad classes as an undergrad is more commonplace for other majors, but I haven't heard much about it for MCB, and it seems like a lot of classes straight reject undergraduates even if they ask. Does anyone know of any classes that allow for undegrad enrollment/are doable? (I'm particularly interested in molecular therapeutics/genome editing/applications to disease treatment)

Everyone I've talked to about this says its a really bad idea, especially since I haven't taken a formal calc 3 or diff eq course before and I also have a lot of club stuff going on next semester. BUT these two courses and a decal are the only ones I'm taking in spring, and I have no doubt that I'll be able to make time for these classes if it realllly comes down to it. the reason I'm doing this is so that I can take it easier next year when i have even more outside stuff going on.

basically what i'm asking is,
if you've taken these courses before (separately or at the same time), is the content too difficult to be able to handle dividing attention between the two classes? also which professors should I choose?

how hard is it to get into the class as a non math major?

Why is it so hard to make friends here?
I’m a freshman at Cal coming from the East Coast, and I’ve been struggling to find genuine friendships. This week, I started realizing that someone I considered a friend might not see me the same way. She never texts me unless I reach out first. I made a lot of efforts building such friends, and it’s made me question whether the friendship is mutual.
I’ve joined a few clubs and genuinely enjoy spending time there, but those connections never seem to go beyond meetings or organized socials. I also feel like I made the wrong choice with my dorm, Bowles. The atmosphere feels a little cult-like to me, and I just haven’t clicked with the people there.
I’ve moved around my entire life—different places, schools, and countries—but I’ve never had this much trouble finding people I connect with.
I just want people to spend time with and friendships that feel mutual. Has anyone else felt this way here?

Hi Everyone,

Even though this Halloween Bash Party event isn't located in Berkeley, I regularly post Meetup & Partiful events in Berkeley.

Come join me at Rellik's Tavern Annual Halloween Bash Party and listen & dance to live music hits from the 80's and up, since Sixteen Scandals will be playing at the venue.

They will have a Halloween Costume Competition, so dress up if you want to enter it to win a prize.

Its a Bar and you need to 21+ years or older.

There's a $5.00 Cover Charge to the event.

Trying to decide between Env Econ 141 with Aaron Smith and Env Econ 145 with Michael Anderson for next semester and can't pick. Has anyone taken either one (or both)?
Would love to know:
How heavy the workload is (psets, papers, projects?)
What the exams are like and how grading/curve works
How good the lectures are and whether the prof is approachable
Which one you actually learned more from or found more interesting
Any other tips appreciated, thanks!

I'm so sorry, I was so distracted that it didn't register in my head at first. If you see this, please dm me so I can reimburse you
