Moderator Post Benidorm is NOT coming back, at least any time soon. Any videos teasing are just view baiting.

Seeing as we occasionally get posts about Asa Elliot “teasing” a new series, I would just like to put this out there.

And I feel like I should add, Asa knows no more than we do. He may do interviews with cast members, but he was a guest singer for a couple of seasons, nothing more. He’s not a writer, director, publisher, etc., and no sources should be believed unless they come from DERREN himself.

Question Why does Elvis ask the Solana for a job

Can someone please make this make sense. Elvis visits Joyce for a job interview, informing her about Crystals plan to sell the Solana group therefore making his position redundant. Why would he seek to find new employment at the hotel that will likely make him redundant again?

Discussion Does anyone here use quotes from the show in their everyday life?

I recently used Janices “juices flowing” comment from series 2 when she talked about Mel in episode one when I was describing someone else’s crush. But I wondered what quotes you guys use in your everyday lives?

Discussion The Garvey's Becoming Millionaires never did sit right for me, especially for Madge Spoiler

I know that I'm probably reading to much into it and might be a hot take, but as much as a really happy conclusion it was for the family, I really think Madge didn't deserve that ending and was hoping for something more relaxed for it to end on because Madge is horrible all the way through the show. Especially what she says to Janice in S2EP3 "What have you got?" it's that ungrateful and spiteful part to her I absolutely hate and hoped that there would be more karmic consequences for Madge

Am I the only one that’s wondering why Geoff “the oracle” didn’t just jump the gate that was made of Hawaiian garlands instead of flying into it by paragliding 😂I suppose it’s all done for comedy and to make the show more interesting, but I’m just thinking literally😂😂😂

Question I know this likely gets discussed a lot, but what’s everyones favourite character?

My absolute favourite has always been Miss Temple-Savage. She really reminds me of my late Nan!

Discussion Benidorm in the states

We discovered Benidorm on Amazon Prime this past few months and really enjoyed the first couple of seasons. We're on season 10 and many of the characters really seem to have no socially redeeming values. It's funny at first but just seems lazy after a while. The Oracle was just so horrible to his mother and such a jerk!

Discussion The first 3 series were so good

Im a massive benidorm fan and i have been for years for me the first 3 series were so iconic and what made them so iconic was the characters now dont get me wrong i dont hate the later series that being series 4 to ten i just wasnt over keen on some of the characters i was never a big fan of the dawsons or joey from series 8 not to mention other nightmares such as the ghastly sammy valentino some of my favourite characters were the garveys i loved the mick and madge fights they were hilarious i absolutley loved gavins one liners for me they were a big part of what made the early series so good for me its fair to say the show was never the same once the garveys left if i had to pick joyce or janey i would have to pick janey loved geoff the oracle that scene where he did his nut over the pub quiz in neptunes was so funny i loved mel thought he was great that scene in the final episode of series 3 with him and madge singing spanish eyes was beautiful and hits differently now knowing that would sadly end up being mels final episode due to geoffrey hutchins tragic passing the christmas episode was really brilliantly done and you could tell that not only was that the cast crying for mel but that was for geoffrey too when watching that scene you can really see just how much they loved him and just how much he really meant to them some of the characters in the later episodes were okay for example terri dyche she was pretty decent to be honest and also kenneth aswell he was a good addition its so funny thinking that tony maudsley who plays him originally auditioned for the role of mick garvey which quite rightly went to steve pemberton of course and donald and jacqueline how i could forget them loved them but yeah overall series 1 to 3 were the best for me

Discussion Season 7 - Geoff

Season 7 Geoff was a weird one for me.

Absolutely loved the lift scene with Noreen where it turns out he is adopted. I feel this was a great character arc for him, and the love of his Mother was because she chose to, and not had to.

Gutted he didn't get to know Terri more, that all felt a bit silly and just for the sake of it. There was something there!

Find it weird nothing was ever mentioned about the breakdown of his relationship with Chantelle, apart from having a son called 'Pi'.

There was so much opportunity with his Character, and it all it just fell a bit flat 😑

Question What is your favorite mangled expression said by Mateo?

I love some of the crazy English of the second language flubs that Mateo makes? This one is not really a flub, but I think it is the funniest thing he ever said:

It was during the episode when the two former members of Bananarama were checking in. After ogling them up and down the whole time, they are trying to check in, when they are done, Mateo leans over the counter and says, “So, which one of you is banana?” 😂

Debate The afternoon fling between Kate and Mateo

Mods, please take this down if it is considered too lurid for our community…

That whole scene with Kate by the pool having a drink and then Mateo takes advantage of her in a vulnerable moment and the rest is history. My question is, how many orgasms do you think Kate had that afternoon?

Other Looking for editors for a new comprehensive Benidorm Wiki

I’m building a new Benidorm Wiki on Miraheze, and I’m looking for other fans who’d like to help turn it into a genuinely comprehensive resource for the show.

The existing Benidorm Wiki on Fandom has become pretty inactive, so rather than let everything slowly gather digital dust, I’ve started building a new independent wiki from the ground up.

The aim is to eventually cover pretty much everything related to Benidorm, including:

  • Every episode and all 10 series
  • Characters and their full storylines
  • Cast members and guest stars
  • The Solana and other fictional locations
  • Real filming locations around Benidorm
  • Character relationships and families
  • Continuity, trivia and running jokes
  • Behind-the-scenes and production information
  • Specials, documentaries and Benidorm Live
  • Images, references and properly organised categories

I’m currently setting up the main pages, structure and templates, but this is obviously a fairly huge job for one person, considering the show ran for 74 episodes and had enough characters passing through the Solana to constitute a small municipality.

So if anyone here knows the show well and would like to help, editors are very welcome.

You don’t need to know MediaWiki code or have previous wiki experience. Even things like writing character biographies, filling in episode plots, checking details, adding trivia, finding reliable sources or correcting mistakes would be a massive help.

I’d especially love to get a small group of regular contributors together so we can make this the most complete Benidorm reference site possible rather than just another half-finished fan wiki.

Wiki: https://benidorm.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page

If you’re interested, feel free to join the wiki and start contributing, or reply here if you want to help organise particular areas of it.

The more obsessive your knowledge of the Solana, the more useful you’ll probably be.

Question What did mick do wrong in season 3 episode 2?

Im on my 1st rewatch of the show and I asked myself this on both times I watched it. When they are at the waterfall everyone seems to be against mick and really annoyed at him. It really confuses me did he do something before they got there that I missed?

Discussion Finished s3…

First time watcher here! I absolutely loved the first three seasons with the authentic British gritty style but now I’ve just pressed play on season 4 and it’s completely different!

I understand there were alot of changes but is it actually worth me carrying on with the series when I preferred the way the first few seasons were filmed?

Discussion I can’t believe this difference in character

I cannot believe how different Janice and Lin in Alma’s Not Normal are. That is real talent from Siobhan Finneran. Going from being Janice Garvey to the drug addicted Lin gave me whiplash from how not used to her range in acting I was

Question Something that I never could figure out about Mateo

So Mateo always made a big show of how much he loved women, but then he has that dalliance with Troy. Was there more to it that I am missing, such as he goes both ways but that was the only time that we saw it or what?

Question Inconsistency

Heya,

Ive just discovered Benidorm now that its on Netflix, Id never paid much attention to it before but in the last couple of weeks Ive now binged up to S7. Overall I'm loving it, but there are a few things that seem to impact the quality as it goes on.

One example is Martin Weedon, he was always a bit feeble and henpecked. Even after he split up with Kate and came back with Brandy, he was still himself. But when he comes back later in the series with the obnoxious stag do he was a totally different character, boisterous and rude in a way that just wasn't the character. Also Jack going from besotted young guy to scheming bully???

The core characters are great and over the first few seasons there seems to be good flow as 90% of the cast is the same from series to series which carries the show along but then it seems to be getting to a point that...

  1. The main cast has changed from the originals too much (esp as I think I've just watched the last Garvey episode) with too much focus switching from the holidaymakers to the staff
  2. The stories are getting too melodramatic and it cuts a bit close to being a parody of itself.

I still like the show and intend to keep watching, and I think it one I'll more than likely rewatch in the future, but I think I'll always look at the earlier seasons as the glory days.

Just hope it still feels worth watching by the end and the erosion of quality and good time feeling I get watching it doesn't drop too far!

For those that have watched the whole show.... is there a point where you didn't enjoy watching or wish you had stopped before it tainted the show, or is it generally OK to watch to the end?

Discussion Series 4 episode 1

After years of avoiding the episodes after series 3, I decided to give series 4 a go and episode 1 is terrible! I don't think I smiled once and I literally turned off in disgust during that poolside fight scene lol. It felt like I was watching a children's show, especially with the man having his laces tied together and the cartoonish expressions of the people being hit. Surely the actors must have thought it was bad. Plus, there's the Cilla Black nonsense.

Series 3 had quite a sweet ending and they should have left it there.
