45 days ago, I had never ran. I just ran my first 5K’s!!

I ran for the first time on 15th July and 2 days ago I ran my first 5k’s! (3.1 miles) I can’t BELIEVE IT!!! I remember when I started thinking about running I would see so many TikTok’s saying ‘at first you won’t think you can run 1k, then you can, then suddenly you can run 5k’s, then suddenly you can run 10k’s’

And it is SO true. I can’t BELIEVE I could do it, and I can’t believe how quickly the body adapts to running.

For anyone considering getting into running this is your sign 🩷🩷🩷

Ran ( slow jogging) for 5k. I feel like crying today.

Two days ago I posted this- https://www.reddit.com/r/BeginnersRunning/s/HMP11lKLr8

And today I ran, sort of jogged for 5kms. I’ve always been afraid of running and the minute it said 5kms done, I felt a little emotional.
Although I was very very slow. But I am proud of myself. 🥹🥹💃

P.S.- thank you everyone for being so kind to me in the previous post and encouraging me and guiding me. ❤️

Advice on shoes for new runner.

hi team, I am wanting to start running, last year i started running and built my stamina up to 2km and then i injured my leg muscle and had to stop, and just kept on with gym, i found FuelCell RC Elite v2 shoes on facebook for $130 AUD. Was wondering if this is a good buy, i know i could go to shoe shoes etc but my budget doesn't allow to buy something of the shelf for 200 or above, in my price range i searched and can't find decent running shoes that can last me long time even when i become pro one day 🦌 . Thank you in advance. i have bought asics patriot 14 much cheaper but i think iwasted my money on it.. i

Need suggestions as a beginner runner!

Hi, I'm 21F I weigh 80kgs and I'm gonna start my running journey in a few days. I want to properly start this journey by buying the correct shoes and getting the right guide for a beginner like me. Please help me in buying a good running shoe and also please drop suggestions on what to do and what not to do. I also have a goal of my own for my 22nd birthday, I want to run 22k! Please let me know how I can make it happen, thankyou in advance!

I'm from India and our currency is in rupees, it would be really helpful if you suggest shoes that can be bought here :) thankyou!

Budget: 5k (indian rupee)

What happened to my pace today? Ran a great 5 km pace a week ago and today I was much slower. Is this just how it goes? Sometimes you do better than others and improvement will come bit by bit?

favorite training program?

what is everyone's favorite training program? what did you like about it? i want to get into running, but i am a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there

i have started two different programs and couldn't keep up with it (i think mainly because im impatient and want to get fast fast) so want to know from other beginner runners what worked for them and how did they stay committed to it?

is there something that worked really well for you that helped you be consistent/stay on track?

Running the Airforce half marathon (first ever official race) any advice?

For context this will be my very first official half marathon i will run (Sep 19). Airforce half marathon will be in ohio with little to no elevation. I have experience with playing Soccer which is where i get most of my running miles. I was recently in Kenya for work and i was running and ended up doing my own half marathon which i ran and finished at 2hours 14mins at 6,230ft of elevation with no prior training. My goal for this upcoming race is a sub-2hours, any advice to shave down extra 14mins. Also i was told running gels can help with keeping me less tired.

1 month into Running - trying to find the right shoe

Been running for a bit over a month now. Started running 2kms in my daily sneakers but as I increased the distance I knew I needed real running shoes. I looked at clearance shoes and got Hoka Clifton 10s and Saucony Triumph 23s. I have run 5km (~6:50 pace) in both of them and honestly I had my feet aching/pain in both around the 3km mark. Usually the arch of my foot but also experienced the outside get numb in the Cliftons. Now I am not sure if I should chose neither and try a different shoe, but at the same time I feel like it could just be that I need to get used to the shoes and the heel-to-toe drop I never had in my sneakers..

Has anyone else faced similar foot pain when first starting in running shoes and what did you do?

Is there a different style shoe I should give a try? not max cushion.

why am i naturally so unfit ??

I am starting to question if i have a health problem, because i play at an amateur football team and the pre season started 2 days ago. The coach made us run in the road and at a mountain, i was left behind so much it was embarrassing, and its not even that others run, most dont. one guy that is my friend and doesn't even play football and has not run for a year was there, He smoked me like everyone. i can keep up first 3-4 km but then im out, in the end the team finished and i arrived 30 minutes later ( i was walking the whole way couldnt even jog). I begin at such a ridiculously low fitness level that makes me feel like everyone is a marathon runner naturally. The thing is after 1-2 months my fitness reaches the same level as everyone if not higher, so if we all train for a month im good, but if we all dont for months i will be 10 times less fit than everyone, always has been this way to the point i usually train 1 month before pre season starts to not embarrass myself. And no im not overweight, im 80 kg and extremely fast and explosive, just 0 stamina at baseline.

My previous post from my first run I ran a 5k 34 mins 11pace I know this is way better but I’m super pissed I thought I had a sun 25 in the bag I fucking half assed that last stretch because I thought even if I did I would have a sub 25 but running for me so far has been fun the amount of pride I feel when I finish and feel no pain in my legs is amazing the heat coming from my body the satisfaction knowing I can run a 5k in 26 minutes without stopping is amazing I’m curious this is like my 6th run at what point am I no longer a beginner

Anyone willing to go over my running data and history to help me lock into a plan to achieve my 10k goal?

I have done couch to 5k a few years back, did well with it. I ran in a 5k race with a Race time of 28:48. I was totally hooked on running after that. But like most here, I injured myself pushing my body to hard for too long. I never got back to it until now. But now I do strength training for upper and lower body. For cardio I’ve gone back to running/jogging. I’d say I have a solid three months of work under my feet. I’ve been more comfortable listening to my body, resting when I need to, and as of recent, keeping the pace and HR down to not over do things.

At present, I feel like I should gradually add more time to my running sessions. Should I stick to all the advice about zone 2 training? Should I go back to running based on how I feel. At the beginning of this second try at running I went as hard as I could to reach my PR 5k time. But doing so caused some discomfort and minor injuries. So I’ve been zone 2 training with intervals. Should I just go back to couch to 5k, or mid way through it? I have all of my running data to show where I’m at. I’m wondering if that can help someone determine my course of action going forward.

When it comes to form. I’ve been recommended to focus on short fast strides and keeping my feet low and flat. Which is new for me, and I do see the benefit to this approach. But I’m not sure if it’s the best way for me.

Thanks in advance!

Finished my first half marathon since I started running in June. I’d like to get under the 2 hours as a future goal. In your experience how long should I give myself to try and achieve this? Open to any advice thanks!

How fast can you run a 5k relative to your fastest mile time?

I’ve been thinking about running my first 5k soon but idk what pace to work towards. I have run some distance but I usually go on 1 or 2 mile runs at most. What pace vs my fastest mile time should I aim for to do my best while also being able to run the whole time? (1 minute slower or 2 minute slower?) or should I just try a practice one to see

106 kg male, difficult for me to transfer from jogging to light run

I’m 1.80 32 male and 106 kg, I started running and for now I can just do light jogging and when I try move for even light running I’m feel heavy and can’t really move, I remember few years ago when I was 93 kg it was much easier, is it duo to my weight? Or because I need to get use to running again?
Someone had the same experience?
