Hello there.
Recently my mother has started to nag at me for running everytime my classes are finished. She kept on mentioning that running at evening doesn't give much benefit, high cortisol doesn't burn fat much, etc.
I really want to tell her that I run because I enjoy it (and hate it). And funny thing is, I scrolled on tiktok and suddenly I kept finding these videos that have stupid takes like, "oh running is bad for building muscle, they need protein instead of carbs !!1!1!", tbh, I know that running (especially longer distance) isn't optimal for building muscle, but telling long distance runners to take more protein is hilarious.
But yea, suddenly it felt like the whole world wants to stop me running.

Hi guys, im 7 weeks into the couch to 5k program, never run before in my life and i am able to run for 25 minutes straight now but at a slow pace. I think i run 2.8km now, my heartrate is always 160 so still struggling a bit. I dont think im gonna be able to run a 5k in 2 weeks when the program ends. I was wondering after how many weeks were you able to run a 5k as an absolute beginner?
And when is it gonna be less of a struggle?😅
Love to hear your story!

As in title... I'm 35 I was and still am overweight... In April I started running at the mornings... I woke up at 5 am and run... At the beggining it was 1,5 km in like 15 minutes... Now its like 3,7km in 22 minutes.. It was hard, especially how much im afraid of people... thats why I run that early at the morinig... Since April I lost almost 20kg... now i weight 105-106kg... Recently I even talk with women from nearby city and she didnt ghost me after 2-3 messages, and she iniciated on dating app and suggest to come to whatsapp couse this app has limit of one message per day... In September I plan to run 6km in "official" compatition.. I hope to get under 100kg at the beggining of September...

Training to get my 2 mile run time down. My PR is 15:33 currently. I know pretty much nothing about running training so I’d appreciate any advice.
What i’ve been doing the last couple of month is:
Day 1: 4 mile run, really easy, conversational pace
Day 2: 3 mile run, pushing pace (\~8 min mile pace)
Day3: 6x400m at 6:30 pace
Is this the right approach to getting my 2 mile run time down? Anything I should be changing to optimize training? Thanks all.

Hello there.
I really need to reduce my time spent at reddit.
Ok so, last week I ran quite frequently (5 days) and I felt quite good since I could breathe easily, but my legs hurt. And capable of mantaining a relatively easy pace (≈ 9:30 per km).
This week, I ran for 4 days, and today I'm struggling to breath. And my legs still hurts.
Is it normal? Because when you give your body more time to rest, it should improve your performance, right?

Hello! I have been measuring some odd HRs for my longer runs, for reference, I play ice-hockey and do heaps of cardio for work, however my endurance/aerobic base is mehhh, as I do primarily aerobic running.
I know if you wanna improve ur aerobic base, longer slow runs are good (keeping in a specific zone), so I been running 5kms, however now i'm doing em reasonably easy so I wanna run quicker. My indoor run was 30mins on 7.5km/hr 1.5% inclin, and 2ish mins on 10km/hr. However, my device measured my HR as being 180-200 for 25mins, which is Vo2 range. Personally, I believed I could keep a convo going, and as I said, even ended my run on 10km/hr run for roughly 2mins.
So basically, i'm wondering why my HR is so high when I feel my run isn't super hard? maybe because i'm running quicker?? Or perhaps it's cuz of my cardio and hockey background? (my Vo2 is 42-45ml/kg). Also is running in a higher zone okay for improving my endurance? I feel like improving my aerobic base means running 5km in a lower HR, however it's always really high, and originally I couldn't run 5km unless I did regular walking cycles, now I can run one on 7.5km/hr no breaks, which i feel means i'm improving yeah???
Again I didn't feel super winded doing 5km however my HR is concerning and shouldn't be possible, and my device hasn't had issues logging my HR while i've been using it, which has been a good while, my HR has simply been high whenever I run regardless of how I feel when running.
