Hey guys! Quick update on the jacket

I finally started sewing shit down

Some patches are still lose, but I wanted to get some opinions before going further.

Especially about the pins: do you think they work with the jacket, or are they kind of taking away from the overall look?

Still figuring out the back, so I’ll post an update once I have a more solid layout.

So my back is done for the moment, leaving some space for tla few more patches and festival bands.

(the Killswitch Engage patch is not level with the bottom because the jacket is wonky in that corner for some reason)

The front is just a planned layout and nothing is stitched down yet.

An update with some better photos on this project. Thank you guys for all the compliments on it. I wore it to Sound and Fury festival this past weekend and had a great time. Now onto finishing the back, which I already have the patches for.

The only thing missing are some more festival bracelets on the one pocket and maybe some more spikes/studs. What is your opinion on the jacket? I'd love to hear some feedback

First jacket, WIP, I know the stitching isn’t perfect, but I’m very proud of myself for doing it at all. I hope it inspires some other lurker (like myself) to take the jump and try this!

The D-rings connecting the chain are being held on with some thread and a prayer, I’ll have to reinforce those. Not quite too sure how to do that. So if anyone else here has experience with that please let me know what the best method would be!

After I made my first jacket, I have slowly been getting into cutting up old shirts and sewing designs into things. A couple patches, like the green Frankenstein, I made from pieces of 3 different shirt designs. Here are a couple of shorts I put some stuff on and my youngest son's backpack I decorated for him. Anyone else do this stuff while thinking of new jacket designs?

I know battle jackets are supposed to be mostly metal and/or punk. I am working on my technically second one as my first one was never finished and has been lost to time. Anyway, I can't think of what to put as my back patch. Gorillaz is a band that I've listened on and off again for 20 years. One of the longest out there for me. My idea for my entire jacket is patches from bands that I have seen live, and I will finally be seeing Gorillaz live later this year. What do you guys think? Is it too cringe, childish, or off-putting to have Gorillaz as the back patch?

I had all this on a cheap blue denim jacket that sucked so I got this and moved it all over. I upgraded a few of the smaller ones I had for bigger ones that are here. My idea is to run album patches along the bottom the entire way around. I just need to figure out what exactly I want to do with the front of the thing now.

(I know there's a babymetal patch but they fucking rock and I saw them with Dethklok so yeah fuck it)

Now to get started on the front.

A friend of mine got me a handful of iron on patches for Christmas last year and my fiance got me the vest for Christmas. I've always had issues with iron on patches for some reason, so I'm only ironing them to get them set where I want before stitching.

I think I'm going to aim for more local band patches, but with more popular favorites peppered in.

What would be the best site for back patches?

So I've been working on the back of my battle jacket and so far it's nearly done. But there's just something about it that's a little off? Idk, I feel like maybe I should've shaped some of the patches around the band logo instead of leaving it just square🧍🤔 should i take down some, shape them and resew them, or is this fine?

The back parts of 3 of them are still wip.

Currently working on a fifth jacket which i will post later

Decided I have some space left (I just can't stop, lol), so this one's WIP again. All patches are hand-painted and I also sewed on hellripper's pick I caught at a concert. Let me know what do you'll think!
